Not really.Being an Apple fan who bought a $300 book just for bullet testing, wouldnt be surprised if he removed the iPhone in that 15 minute interval and "Caused" the iPhone to win
I'm with you, all youtube videos are untrusted, especially when used to prove an internet talking point. All videos and photos are capable of being manipulated in some way shape or form and that should be the stance of MR posters going forward.

This whole "water resistance" is meaningless if Apple will not stand by their product and replace it because of water damage, in my opinion. Until they do that, I won't be testing out the water resistance.

Until they do that, they shouldn't refer to the device as water resistant.

They could use a pressure sensor/capsule

I'm not sure how that could work inside a sealed phone.

That sure is a big bow! Where is that from?

It is a singer called Sia. Don't feel bad, I had to call my daughter and ask the same question. :)

Here she is at the Grammies.

IP - certifications are not worth much if the manufacturer refuses to actually warrant their implementation.

Everything with Apple products these days are gimmicks, not advancements.

Why is it every thread starts out with a bash of some sort?

Please tell us how water restiance or even water proofing to an official standard isn't and advancement?

How is it quality Bluetooth buds with a new chip and logic that is easy to connect isn't an advancement?

The coming new iDevice screens aren't an advancement?

The faster Watch this year isn't an advancement?

...

Bashers get really tiresome, so why don't they quit giving us the quick gimmick comment and make some advancement comments?

Oh no, they're going to remove the charging port. IPhone sales are down, to boost sales this new model will be a throw away phone. When the battery is depleted, you simply replace the phone.

Water resistance is not a feature that Apple can use to promote innovation with their phones. Too many other phones had it first, and for way too long before Apple did. Mention it, then move on.

Oh cool, lazy racism on a thread about water resistant smart phones.
Directed at someone you don't know - who isn't even German.
Well done.
Class.

I don't think you know what racism means. Also, I'm part German... so yeah, there's that.

Regardless, I'll let this go because you obviously didn't pick up on the sarcasm of my first reply and we've now derailed this post. Enjoy the rest of your weekend in .DE, amigo!

You obviously thought this ad was solely about the speakers.

Hmmm in a world of imagery did you miss something here?

After reading some of the comments on here I feel the need to state the obvious, water resistant does NOT mean waterproof! Water resistant is exactly what it says, its resistant to water, so if your out in the rain your fine, however it's not a very good idea to submerge your iPhone in water fully. It's not Apple's fault or their responsibility if you decide to submerge your iPhone in water!

Pointing finger to someone else doesn't make it ok. That only means that now instead of one there are two bending the fine print to meet their agenda.
It points to an trend in the industry. And as others have noted, with the one exception being the active, all manufacturers seem to have the same warranty policy.

It can be submerged as stated in by the rating in depth of 0.15 to 1.0 meters for 30 minutes or less and should be fine (at least when it's still brand new and has not been used in extreme environments). But many units fail a glass of water test.

Does not make it good or right policy.

That is a different discussion. Increasing water resistance benefits the customers and the manufacturers as it reduces water damage and costs associated with replacing water damaged phones. I still will not go swimming with my phones as they are not waterproof.

This is not the issue. The issue is lack of honesty. From all parties involved.
