what do u mean? can u be more spcfc. ?

I am saying that just because Apple released a new lightning dock does not mean that it would make the stick to what they have now. Lots of phones will be able to use this new dock for years. What will stop Apple from using the new USB-C port on the 6S is that the port is too thick for the thickness of the iphone. I can not see App;le making the iPhone thicker, well maybe till the 7

Yeah exactly I agree with you just bcos they released pointless dock they won't do it ..? No.
That is just marketing gimmick for stupid ppl..
But what I disagree is that the port is not any thicker than lightning port what is bigger is the connector ..
The connector when is plugged it is not plugged in all the way connector stick out about 2mm (i don't like it!)
I just received (today) mini usb type c (3.1) SSD m.2 enclosure from china .. it is beautiful thing nice and very good quality. The transfer speeds are like 200MB/s from 3.1 to 3.0
Once laptops will support this usb 3.1 that will be wow really want to see speeds !
check the pics :

The Galaxy Note 5 is all but confirmed to have the usb-c port.

...keep up ;)
If, IF, Apple were to go type C on the iPhone/iPad, it wouldn't be a USB 3.1 connector, it would be Thunderbolt 3. And I bet it would require an authentication chip in the cable, so no cheap type C cable for us.

Man what nonsense u talking about ? they (intel) just gonna introduce thunderbold 2 what u talking bout thunderbold 3 ??!!?
cheap 3.1 cable ?!?! what do u mean cheap ?? in what way ?
I think you have confusion in cables and connectors little bit

Faster charging would be a good thing. But why should it (only) be possible with USB-C? Isn't it more a divice / charger thing?

Because regulations of making 20 different cables stopped that and by year 2016 all smartphones or wall chargers has remain same one standard .. It is EU regulation..
So that is why USB c been invented..
Lightning is just gimmick it is nothing else just USB ..
What Apple might do is support for thunderbolt ( which I doubt) and USB 3.1 too..

I think you need manners ..
I know it uses that connector
I just said that .. Check it ..

{SNIP: BICKERING} I am betting the thunderbolt 3 cables will be much more expensive due to internal chips, licensing, etc vs a standard USB type c cable would be. Hence the cheap USB c cable comment.

there is nothing special about bloody cables jeeusus it is just freaking ordinary cable omg..
why they wud be expensive..
this is it how iphone owners are brainwashed by apple that even stupid cable you have to buy is $50 dollars (being sarcastic) this is just ridiculous and disgusting from apple..
usb just because is cheap doesn't mean it is crap .. ! it means that it is UNIVERSAL and need to be available to anybody and for everybody !

Nah it won't be on the 6s. I'll say the 7 is a high chance tho.

And really everyone shouldn't complain considering the benefits it'll have. What benefits did the Lightning connector have? Being able to insert it either way? Yay...

Data transfer, syncing/backing up with iTunes and charging speeds will be super fast with usb-c iPhones.

Your data transfer statement depends on the chipset Apple would use with the USB C connector. Look at the Nokia N1 tablet. It has USB C but is only USB 2.0.

Apple will use a non proprietary port on the iPhone when it benefits them to do so (aka never).

Using USB-C on the iPhone/iPad is a good way for Apple to lose a tremendous amount of money on OEM accessory sales and 3rd party licensing fees.

what a nonsense stupidity.. why they implemented c type when it isn't even 3.1 ... oh dearr. that brand only annoys me
glad it vanished ..

Or potentially some regulations might push them to going with something non-proprietary.

As they can go with USB-C if that's being pushed as more of a standard (that Apple themselves contributed to quite a bit) and as at least in Europe regulations are starting to take effect in relation to standardized connections.

My bet would be that Apple goes for wireless charging to avoid issues with European regulations regarding to connections. :D

Or potentially some regulations might push them to going with something non-proprietary.

The problem with the European common EPS is its micro usb-b on the device side and usb-a on the charger side (if detachable).

USB-C is not common EPS.

So the regulations will need to be rewritten for usb-c which goes against the entire point of the regulation. But I guess they could have 2 common EPS connectors.

It appears that an included adaptor is a work around for this regulation. And in my opinion it would be more profitable for Apple to include an adaptor for European models that way they can maintain their very profitable licensing agreements.

I don't want anyone to get me wrong though. I'm all for a standardized port just up until this point Lightning connector was better then micro usb-b. So if usb-c can do everything the lightning cable can do plus more AND be a standard I'm all for it!
