Apples loyal customer base will pay those prices, they always do.
I was a massive Apple fan boy since the late 90’s until recently when these extortionate price increases starting happening since 2017.

Over time they have eroded my loyalty to the point I actually quite hate Apple right now and have stopped buying their products altogether.

So don’t be so sure the loyal fan base will stick around forever.

I bought a discounted M1 iPad Pro, just after the M2 version was launched. I wanted an iPad with:
  • Face ID unlock (don't want to figure out where Touch ID button is)
  • Cellular network service (mainly for GPS)
  • More than 64GB storage (128GB is enough)
  • 4 speakers (for great sound in portrait and landcape mode)
  • Pencil 2 (easier charging)
The 2021 M1 iPad Pro was the best option and priced very near to the current iPad Air (which does not have Face ID and the next step is 256GB)

But no way do I want to pay a ton more, if I ever upgrade (in 6 or 7 years from now). If all the above is brought to the Air, sure, I'll go with the Air.

Personally, I hope the new basic iPad (10th gen) fails big time, and sends a clear signal to Apple that they are being too greedy.

As Apple push their services you would think that they would want mass adoption to grow the userbase, especially as they are about to lose their lock-ins due to future regulation.

What planet are they on. Who is this for? Almost everything is more difficult to do with the iPad and spending another £3-500 to make it more computer like is a laugh as well.

Not going to happen. It never happened with any Apple product at that scale. Maybe 20-30%, but not 60-80%.
Nobody is going to pay that much regardless of how less frequent they upgrade.

Aren’t Samsung Tablets also OLEDs for years now, at a significantly cheaper price range than the iPad Pros (at least in my country like 30% less price).
To be honest for these prices they should offer the availability to use iPad OS AND Mac OS. iPad proapps are still lagging (looking at useless Photoshop now).

Child, I don't know if OLED is even the flagship feature most users want. I need a larger screen, better battery and probably another Thunderbolt port.

Yet you can buy a 55” OLED smart tv for $1,500? Something doesn’t jive with this 80% price hike from Apple for an OLED ipad pro. $1,500 to start for the 11” OLED iPad Pro would mean a maxed out 11” iPad Pro will cost well over $3,000 now! One that doesn’t even run Final Cut Pro yet? That’s crazy! I usually get the maxed out 11” ipad pro & was planning to upgrade next year. I might just have to upgrade this year instead. I don’t want an OLED screen THAT bad to pay over $3 grand.
Samsung's high-end tablets have OLED and don't cost that much.

It seems crazy to me the prices Apple is going to. In the US, they have kept prices already high, but in Europe prices are bordering on absurd levels.

I love my 13" iPad Pro, but if this happens I will be done with the Pro level of the product altogether. For me to use an iPad in the fashion that I prefer requires the 13" device, and a price that far beyond the current price simply won't be worth it. The limitations of iPad OS simply would make this price ridiculous.

I don’t see the value in switching to OLED. I’m totally happy with my mini LED M1 version and the only thing I’d like to see happen with iPad Pro is getting battery life up to 14-16 hours. That’s not going to happen with the use of OLED panels.
Well I assume the M3 chip which is supposed to be more power efficient and more performant might balance the battery life.

I purchased about 3 months ago an M2 iPad Pro 12 inch, and I wanted to wait for the next year's release.
Honestly, I kno I will be jealous on the new iPads but truth be told, for what I am using it - no upgrade is actually required.

For me battery life is irrelevant, mostly I am close to a power socket.

However, for many I assume the OLED and an M3 might just make sense if they plan to port Pro Apps to the iPad.
I am not falling under that category :)

Apple devices in my use case - are worth an upgrade every 3 years median to feel the upgrade, to save the mindless spending and to benefit from the tech.

That seems way too high. I just understand the benefit of Oled. Is it that much brighter and vivid than the current iPad Pro models? Will battery life be better if kept at full brightness, etc…?

I would have no problem with the pricing and gladly buy it..............

IF AND ONLY IF

The new models would have the FULL functionality of MacOS, ran MacOS apps and had multiple thunderbolt I/O....

this is a case where I either will wait for the iPad to get onto their refurbished store or ask one of my Apple Store friends to use their discount.

I really don’t think the price will be super high though.

I could see a larger screen, different materials and other features though. along with a much better OS.

That's hilarious, truly is. They will only price themselves further and further out of the markets. And their profits will suffer.
I don't think they will price new iPads anywhere near this level but I do think they'll push them over that 1000 barrier starting price. Just like they have done with the iPhone 'Pro'.
I'll just buy refurb, like my awesome deal 13 Pro, and I should be able to get a great saving on a Mac when I have the money for one.

Breaking news; in 2023 Apple is considering changing their slogan to 'Think Expensive'.

Here's my advice for anyone looking to buy an iPad: skip the regular Apple store and head straight to the refurbished online store. You'll get the best value deals and can save hundreds, and even though these models may be older, they perform just as well and can easily last you for the next 5 years. Most people never even use half of the capabilities of the latest models, so don't overpay for performance you don't need. Go refurbished and save some money!

iPad Pro 12.9 with Magic Keyboard & equivalent storage is already more expensive than a MacBook Pro, so that’s a weird comparison to make as something “new.” Of course the iPad already has a superior display, touch screen, depth-sensing camera, cellular capability… remind me why people buy a 13” MacBook Pro again?

We need to HOLD and not buy at that price! if people buy then Apple will think that is acceptable!! and that will be the new price for the future.
Agreed, I'm keeping my wallet far away from whatever that is... not that I would upgrade anyway, but now I have incentive not to.

I very much doubt it will stop here. The division between other options/comparison in the lineup in regard to pricing will follow suit imo, so no point in making informed and money saving choices just yet!

As others have already pointed out, Samsung have being using OLED's in their tablets for some time now and at a fraction of the cost of Apples 'planned' price increases. Apple cannot therefore justify their price increases to factors other than greed because Samsung are under the same economic and supplier constraints as Apple is and yet they have not substantially increased the price of their tablets.

Therefore, if Samsung can do it on the cheap, why can't Apple? If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck then it's a duck. Apply that to Apple and it translates to if it looks like greed and smells like greed then it is greed.
