I had no idea people were such photo buffs. I'm picky in some areas too so I guess we all place value on different things. I do see the blown out outside of that picture though but didn't notice until someone pointed it out vs the iPhone.

Those pictures look great. The verge is full of iPhone fanboys

I would almost agree except Josh who had the Nexus 5 in the video bashes iOS 7 as much as possible. He isn't a fanboy of any platform and is a pretty straight shooter. However, it is possible the conditions of that studio could not be handled by the N5 very well even though it may have a decent camera.

Jesus I go off to the pool for an hour and come back and there's 7 pages of bitching at The Verge and good ol Ken gets a banishment !!!

And he was apparently substantially tipsy on Whiskey.

Well you guys...

Im extremely disappointed with 4.4.

Many improvements under the hood, yes, but not much to the end user. And 4.3 didn't bring any new features also, just more under the hood improvements.

I expect the battery of the Nexus 5 to be slightly better than the one in the Nexus 4.

Im gonna wait and buy a top smartphone from next year. Probably HTC One 2 if they include a better camera.

Seriously now... how can anyone be excited about 4.4?? Screen recording? Full screen mode? By the way, this ONLY works in videos, games and books app from what I've read. There's an API, but with stock google apps it wont work.

Ahh i don't know what to do!!!!!

I am due an upgrade now and currently have the 4S. My 4s is on its last legs, so i need a new phone. But like you i was looking at the htc one, but that's old now. The Nexus 5 or LG2?

Yeah sorry man but it looks like you just missed the most entertaining hour in recent MR history XD

Seeing how 4.3 and 4.4 havent brought any new major features i would definitely go for the LG G2, mainly for the battery and better camera. It will also get 4.4 in a couple of months probably.

That's where full screen is most important. I wouldn't really want it anywhere else. Imagine having to swipe up just to hit the back button in Chrome every time you want to navigate back? It could get annoying.

Of course, in an ideal world, it'd be system wide and user-activated.

I think 4.4 is pretty exciting even if it is relatively small. Also, don't forget, Google is updating their core apps individually.

A lot of the things promises with Kit Kat were rumors anyway. For example, I don't see a choice to pick color accents. Nor that recently rumored more robust backup system. A few things are disappointingly missing, but overall, I really like KitKat.

How do you know? We haven't seen a single review yet. Google is touting 17 hours of talk time which is quite impressive.

The Nexus 4 promised pretty incredible battery life, too. It got no where near that in real world use.

But you're right, until reviews (and more importantly, tests) come out, we won't know for sure.

Just got a confirmation email!!!!!!

For my Nexus 5 case....

+1 Lol

Feck !

:D well someone PM me and fill me in. Did he come back after his faupar earlier with more guff?

Apparently Ken got banned. Lol.

There was no shortage of people asking for his thoughts post-announcement, though. Heh.

Blind test!

For those who haven't seen it yet, pick which is better:

Even though the lobby shot looks overexposed, it looks much better than I expected from the way that verge piece was saying the camera is garbage.

I think I'm gonna be delighted enough.

The Verge is full of it in regards to the N5 camera! From the samples I've seen from different websites, the N5 camera is WAY better than the N4's. Thank Goodness! The Verge is full of iPhone fanboys.

The camera and flash placement/look is a bit weird. Even ugly, but the rest of her is beautiful:

I love that soft matte plastic back. Feels great on the 7, I imagine it'll be the same on the 5.

Looks way out of place on the white model imo, otherwise I think the white back would be nice.

Opted for the seamless black. I think in all but bright lighting, this is gonna be a moot point.

Don't get me started on the "white" model, if you can even call it white. It's hideous, and yes, the weird black camera against the white back is one of the reasons why.

I don't understand why Google doesn't create a truly full white Nexus. I would've easily ordered that one if they did. Get with the program, Google.

Speakers will be a giant downgrade from the HTC One:

The bottom of the phone houses the single mono speaker (on the left) and the main microphone (on the right), buoying the dual-function microUSB/SlimPort in the middle. Initial testing found the speaker relatively low at maximum volume, but it was not overwhelmingly softer than the average Android device on the market.

I actually kind of like the panda edition. If they had a black, full white, and panda edition and black was sold out, I'd get the panda edition.
