Don't get me started on the "white" model, if you can even call it white. It's hideous, and yes, the weird black camera against the white back is one of the reasons why.

I don't understand why Google doesn't create a truly full white Nexus. I would've easily ordered that one if they did. Get with the program, Google.

Speakers will be a giant downgrade from the HTC One:

The bottom of the phone houses the single mono speaker (on the left) and the main microphone (on the right), buoying the dual-function microUSB/SlimPort in the middle. Initial testing found the speaker relatively low at maximum volume, but it was not overwhelmingly softer than the average Android device on the market.

:T

I got the white one. I think it looks really good.

I wish Google concentrated more on gestures and swipes.

If they implemented swiping gestures like "Zephyr" tweak for iOS, it would be great!

They should've at least made the buttons, the camera, and the sides all white too in the "white" version. I could've lived with the black front.

Apparently Ken got banned. Lol.

There was no shortage of people asking for his thoughts post-announcement, though. Heh.

Blind test!

For those who haven't seen it yet, pick which is better:

some of us already know which one is the 5s and which is the N5........i think it will surprise a lot of people....

Me too.

And Zephyr was my most favorite Jailbreak app. Ever try Swipe Home? It's the Zephyr equivalent. Better, in some ways.

It's fundamentally changed the way I use my HTC One. The "blank" HTC one center is perfect for this app.

Gizmodo says the Nexus 5 has an extra "little helper" core to its processor that:

... The Nexus 5's "bonus core" takes care of the little things while the rest of your phone is fast asleep.

This extra chip should also help with battery life, which the Nexus 5 is already doing pretty well on.

I didn't know this. Is that just how SnapDragon 800's are? Or is this a special SnapDragon 800?

What SIM size does the N5 take?

I'm very excited about the Nexus 5. I've never kept an Android phone past the return period before. Since I haven't had an iPhone for two months now, and I don't want another one, I don't think I'll be returning the Nexus 5. I'm determined to no longer do contracts, and I'm so pissed at Verizon for their business practices that I have sworn to never use them again, regardless of if they have better service or not.

Just ordered mine.

Originally ordered a 16gb white but that didnt ship until 11/22. I realized that the white would turn dirty after use (I wouldnt use a case with the n5 since there is no glass back)

Cancelled that and got a black 32gb because it ships 11/15 and itll have a higher resale value.

I should have ordered two and put one of eBay. Some people will become impatient with the near month wait for one. :(

There is no reason for anyone to do contracts anymore, everyone is doing without except ATT and Verizon now, Activate the Phone on T-Mobile if you have good coverage in your area, better yet you can do MetroPCS all of their GSM phones use the same towers as T-Mobile same exact service for about $10 less than T-Mobile , And the Bill is Tax inclusive , I use MetroPCS and have no issues at all and I have used T-Mobile before, it's the same exact service except factoring Taxes and everything else MetroPCS is about $15-$20 cheaper a month

It's really only verizon that is forcing contracts. ATT GoPhone Prepaid Sims are great, essentaily same level of service as postpaid ATT, same APN.

I bought a Straight Talk SIM and one month of service already. If I don't like it, I'll probably use AT&T GoPhone.

Do you get LTE with those?

$60 for unlimited ?

Yes LTE, No of course not unlmited :p

$60 for 2gb data, unl text & voice $10 per additional GB

AIO (ATT owned MVNO) is available for those that want unlimited. There are some other caveats there, like it goes through a proxy server, different APN.

I've made up my mind and this will be my next phone.

Only if I can get it in the 32GB variant of course. But it'll be brought in by LG here.

Stupid question, but is some of that 4.96" screen being taken up by the Back / Home / Fwd soft buttons? Do they ever disappear when doing things like browsing the web, viewing photos, etc?

I'm used to many of the current-gen Android phones having these soft buttons "invisibly" tucked down, off-screen and only appearing when needed.

Too many pages to read thru. Have there been any reviews yet? Again as some here who are holding out, im waiting for battery life and the camera review.

Im pretty patient and even i am a little anxious to pull the trigger here but teh site says a 32GB black is a 2-3 week ship date.

Must restrain and wait for the actual numbers here. Im sure ill be able to get one this time round and it wont be sold out for weeks like the N4.

The verdict is out whether it's system wide (user activated perhaps?) or just limited to a few key apps like watching movies, playing games, reading books.

But yes, the nav bar does slide down and away allowing full screen mode. It's called Immersive Mode. Google it. Lots of info on it.
