Nexus 5

You sure? Sprint is cdma

Can't tell if you are being sarcastic but yes it works on CDMA too

----------

Yeah, how could they display it in one of the Google kiosks at the Google Play store price, yet also have it in the Mobile section with this advertised price?

Oh wait, we are talking about Best Buy here. Of course, they'd do that. And none of the staff will have any clue that the unlocked version can also be activated on Sprint.

We've seen it on a best buy google kiosk? At 349?

No, no guessing that's where they'd display it, considering all other Google gear (Nexus 7, Chromecast, Chromebooks) are presently displayed there. Wouldn't put it past Best Buy to sell it from two different locations in the store at two different prices, hoping to take advantage of people's naiveté.

Oooh ok gotcha. Yeah I wouldn't put that past them either.

Wow at $799!

I could get:

1) 16GB Nexus 5 - $349
2) 16GB Nexus 7 - $229
3) Google Chromecast - $35
4) A case for the N5 and N7 - $40
5) Screen protectors for the N5 and N7 - $20
6) Wireless Charger for the N5 - $60

With all that and tax, I'm up to around $785.

I hope the new wireless charger doesn't take months to be available like it did last time with the Orb.

Either way, though, I think I'll probably buy a more generic qi charger off Amazon or something...

Lulz @ Best Buy unlock prices.

I sincerely hope that's just an error on their website. If not, lulz!

I doubt it was a mistake. Take a look at any of the full retail prices (Replacement - phone only as they label it) and you'll see the same thing.

Galaxy S4 16GB - $749
HTC One 32GB - $699
Moto X 32GB - $699

Purchase any at a carrier store for full retail and they are far cheaper.

Par for the course for Best Buy.

Major bummer. Best [at ripping you off] Buy, AM I RITE!?

Or a iPhone 5S 32gb (to give you the same amount of storage) off contract and $36 for lunch and the bus home. :)

So basically the same price as a 32GB iPhone 5S! :D

Is no one irritated it didn't come for Verizon or AT&T?

To me not releasing on all 4 major carriers is a huge joke..

Verizon butchered the GNex and whined about wanting some icon apps on it so after that, Google said FU to their demands. Thats why you dont have it. Blame Verizon, not Google.

Hi I also ordered a n5 am a bit confused on the messaging app tho its the hang outs right?
Will most people download a different app for that and if so what one??
I don't use hang outs and all
any help would be great.
The messaging app is Hangouts, through which you can get to Google+ chats and SMS messages. If you consider Google+ to be sort of like iCloud, the messaging ability is similar to iOS's Messages/iMessage, except that it won't automatically replace your texts with iMessages (like Apple does) - you either do the Google+ message or the SMS, and you choose which.

Frankly, I wish they'd done something like Apple, where the app just routes things directly when both users are on an Android device. Maybe next time.

Anyway, you can use any SMS app you wish, and any chat app you wish. Hangouts is just the default. Odds are, unless you specifically mean the Messages app on iOS, the app you're used to is also on Android.

So I have read peoples first impressions of this phone after their unboxing. It seems everyone is happy with battery and camera. I have heard it at least 3 or 4 times. That this is the best smartphone right now. Everyone is saying it is such an upgrade from the N4. And that Google did a great job on the phone. The only place I have seen negative first impressions is The verge. I really believe this thing has a ton of promise. Couch I believe you are going to want this phone.

Here is what an Apple fan thinks about it.

64bit is entirely unnecessary to run a desktop operating systems as well. All the major desktop operating systems have 32bit versions. Without having 4gb of ram or more, there really is not benefit.
Let's have this conversation in 3 years.

Apple is just jumping in now to get experience and so that the iPhone 5S / 2013 iPads will run later OS versions that are OS X/iOS hybrids. You'll see.

agree 100%. Maybe they are just releasing it bit by bit and we'll get an update in the future to allow us to have it "auto select".

It's not that difficult given that it 1) already knows the hangout user and the sms user are actually the same person and 2) it knows the person you're sending to is "online" and able to receive the message.

Wait... What? Sure, 32 bit is still offered, but that software is for legacy machines that are marginal on the specs. Not sure what machines you can buy today that only offer 2gb of RAM, but there aren't many. Even $350 laptops and desktops come with a minimum of 4gb and run 64bit.

64bit is the only way to move forward if the intention is to merge mobile and desktop environments, even at the most basic levels. I think Apple didn't need to do it now, as we are still a couple years off, but it isn't going to hurt by doing it now either. I have a feeling all OEM's will be moving to 64bit in 2014, at least in their flagship phones. People will say they are copying Apple, but in reality, this would have been implemented no matter what. Apple just did it first.

The temptation is becoming more and more of a b*tch each time I read about this phone. What I'll miss most is the camera of the S4. But I really.... REALLY want 4.4, that battery life and the instant OS updates. Ugh.

Nah, its pretty simple. I'm not shocked at all, you are the one who seemed shocked and disappointed, not me. My point stands, what a "decent" upgrade is depends on the user and is highly subjective and much more opinion than fact. If anything you have upgraded from "average" upgrade to "decent" upgrade, lol, changing your nomenclature as you go. What's next, "semi good" upgrade? in the end if you cannot quantify what "average" or "decent" means they just end up as nonsense terms.

Here you go again missing the main point. It is an upgrade with nothing mind blowing or earth shattering at the same price point to the consumer. I am not debating the minuscule level of upgrade here. I am saying it isn't an "S" upgrade, but it isn't mind blowingly innovative, but in the middle. If you want to try and cherry pick little details that are not part of my overarching argument, go right ahead. And maybe you missed this part of my last post:

Saying "average upgrade" could be seen as positive or negative depending on the person. Negative person: ZOMG HE SAID MY PHONE IS NOTHING SPECIAL!!! Positive person: Alright, decent hardware bump at the same price as last year, totes buying it!

Overall, my point is that there is nothing crazy about this upgrade. But it is good that they kept it at the same price point, which, again, is pretty standard these days.
