You do realize this Nexus works on Sprint, T-Mobile, and AT&T, right? The same exact phone works on all those networks. That's really rare.

So what are you pissed off about? That you're a Verizon customer and don't get in on the fun? Blame your carrier for that, not Google. If they hadn't crapped all over the Galaxy Nexus, you'd probably have the Nexus 5, but because of that, you'll probably have to wait a couple of generations. Google wasn't happy with Verizon at all.

Or, are you pissed that you can't get it subsidized on AT&T? If that's the case, stop being a cheap bas%$#&@ and buy the damn thing for a couple of hundred more. You'd be an idiot to buy it on contract anyway when it's so cheap off contract.

Some people just need something to complain about.

The iPhone came for all carriers... Just saying.

Let's be civil, yes?

Anyway, the iPhone 5S has 5 different models as opposed to the N5's 2 and retails for twice the price. Apple's profits are closely tied to iDevice sales; Google's aren't, and Google still gains from other Android phones even if a carrier doesn't carry the Nexus. Google has little incentive to bow to demands from Verizon.

Years after it was ONLY on AT&T.

Then ONLY on AT&T and Verizon.

Then ONLY on AT&T and Verizon and Sprint.

Then finally making it to T-Mobile.

Just saying.

True, and the nexus has been around for a LONG time and they still haven't hashed a deal out with Verizon..

Thats another thing, the iPhone comes with ALL bands. This is how it should be so you can cross carriers easily.

Great point about Verizon...... I don't think Google has any intention to start releasing the Nexus on all carriers...... I don't see them pursuing all markets for release. They could double and triple distribution if they for example chased the market in China. Heck...they won't even let MRU buy it in Ireland! :)

Verizon had their chance with the Galaxy Nexus and f'd it up.

Edit: Also, if you want to cross carriers easily, you buy the phone unlocked. How much is an unlocked iPhone?

I've been tempted by two Android phones this year and haven't wanted to pony up the $650 for the google play editions (HTC One, SG4). The N5 will be the phone that gets me to finally try Android.

Can't wait to order mine when I get paid near the end of the month.

Why is it stupid to say that a flagship phone should come to all 4 carriers same as the iPhone, Note 3, S4, HTC one.

Google took a big chance on Verizon and made the Gnex an exclusive.

Verizon in turn urinated and defecated all over Google and Gnex owners by making a mockery of everything the Nexus line was intended to be.

Mind you Sprint wasn't much better with Nexus S 4G, so I wonder what concessions they made to Google to get another chance with the Nexus 5.

Meh could be google's fault just as well.

If they could hash out a deal with Apple, I'm sure they could do something with Google.

The iPhone has been the number one selling phone on Verizon since it became available. Verizon can't afford to piss Apple off.

Just to add to this, Verizon is also pissing off those that bought the Nexus 7 LTE as well. They still won't activate them, claiming they need "additional time for testing".

Verizon probably won't care though, because as you point out, the iPhone is pretty much keeping them swimming in customers. As long as that doesn't change, the niche market of Nexus owners will be treated like second class citizens at Verizon.

This is a flag ship phone that is not on all carriers. Just saying basically every other flagship phone is on all 4 carriers except the Nexus 4.

It's a joke.
Every other flagship phone is there to make a profit for their manufacturers, so it is in their interest to do whatever needs to be done to get the phone onto that carrier. The Nexus is Google's flagship phone expressly because it is delivered unaltered for a pure Google experience, and they are not in any way dependent upon the phone selling to remain profitable.

Get a LG G2 and you'll have what is in many ways an arguably better version of the N5, plus you'll be lucky enough to get the NFL app on there! Permanently!

Literally the only reason Apple was allowed onto Verizon (after Verizon said no and lost the iPhone to AT&T/Cingular) is that Verizon wanted the profits. The Nexii aren't sold in enough quantity to justify Verizon deciding not to follow their general policy of peeing on everything they sell so people can tell it's a Verizon device from a mile away.

I ordered my Nexus 5 around 2:45 EST. My card was declined and I was only able to update it last night. Luckily my order shipped today!

Pwned? Really?

Give me some documentation this is Verizon's fault.

It's a joke.

Verizon's policies are in direct opposition to the Nexus business model which requires straight android updates without carrier interference and additions.

Verizon's need for nasty branding, bloat and meddling in the update process is why they don't get a Nexus 5, and there is no way around it because of CDMA.

Verizon customers should think twice about their carrier instead of blaming Google for Verizon's stupidity.

The concessions they made this time around were that they weren't getting a separate model. So its the exact same one that people use on gsm carriers and thus will be updated at the same time.

You'll even get the Verizon logo on the front of the phone. Free of charge.
