So WHY has this thread turned into a petty pissing match about carriers ?

Because of this guy. Was crapping on the nexus5 then changed his tactics to crapping on google halfway though.

Anyone else really disappointed in the nexus 5?

There was insane amount of hype about this phone. I remember people saying there might be a feature to activate google now through voice even when the phone was asleep.

It seems almost exactly the same as the nexus 4.

It's all catch up. Most people don't care about 1080p. Camera seems like software improvements, I expect it to be slightly better than the 4.

The only thing I find interesting about this phone or maybe android 4.4 is that hangouts is the new stock message app.

The camera for sure looks worse than competitors. And the 4.4 camera app looks exactly the same as 4.3.

New processor, but not 64bit.

Don't see any new features aside from inclusion of LTE, but I feel like this is far from overdue - Nexus 4 should of had this.

Overall I get a meh feeling after watching/reading about the Nexus 5.

Is no one irritated it didn't come for Verizon or AT&T?

To me not releasing on all 4 major carriers is a huge joke..

The iPhone came for all carriers... Just saying.

Why is it stupid to say that a flagship phone should come to all 4 carriers same as the iPhone, Note 3, S4, HTC one.

True, and the nexus has been around for a LONG time and they still haven't hashed a deal out with Verizon..

Thats another thing, the iPhone comes with ALL bands. This is how it should be so you can cross carriers easily.

Meh could be google's fault just as well.

If they could hash out a deal with Apple, I'm sure they could do something with Google.

Pwned? Really?

Give me some documentation this is Verizon's fault.

This is a flag ship phone that is not on all carriers. Just saying basically every other flagship phone is on all 4 carriers except the Nexus 4.

It's a joke.

Wife's phone was ordered at 9m est 10/31 with est of ships in 2-3 weeks. WE JUTS GOT shipping notice! She should have her phone THIS week. I thought Google had more stock than the website portrayed in shipping estimates, but this is surprising!

peeps with shipping notifications - if you remember the time you ordered it, could you post that too? i have a nov. 8 date, ordered it around 4pm EST, but still have a pending label...grrrr...

I ordered at 2:10 EDT and it had date of leaves warehouse by November 5th. I just got my shipping confirmation.

Come on guys, let's not do a repeat of couch, Vegas, and strausd. Let's try and stay on topic.

I'm very excited to see these shipping earlier than stated dates. I think Google probably knew they would be able to ship them out pretty quick, but could have just wanted to say more conservative shipping dates to be on the safe side. That is what I would have done if I ran a business that had such an awful previous launch.

Seems Google over estimated their shipping times. :D

I didn't order last year so didn't have to deal with that debacle but it appears google got things sorted out this year.

You'll even get the Verizon logo on the front of the phone. Free of charge.

LMAO

ur also gonna pay $90 a month MINIMUM.
atnt prepaid for 45 or tmobile 30$ a month on nexus 5 > stuck with the g2 on verizon 2 years

anyway i got the shipping notification FINALLY !!!!!! was waiting all day .

I wonder when there will be constant stock.

I bet it's calm as kittens after the holidays.

Not so much due strictly to Nexus 5 demand, but component scarcity across the board making logistics tougher as everyone ramps up production for Santa.

As I read all the posts I grow more impatient for my Nexus. Should be here Tuesday. Hopefully, I can sell my Note II to offset the money I just dropped :D

Does anyone know of a way to subscribe to an iOS calendar on the N5? My wife uses iOS and it would be great if I could do that. I generally just export my cal from my mac once a week. (Which is subscribed to her cal) But there has to be a better way. Anyone?

I go back and forth between my iPhone and N4 now. However, if I can solve the above issue and the camera lives up to the initial reviews, I can finally just use one device.

The one thing that video showed me is that android still has a ways to go in image stabilization compared with iOS.

My god that was excruciating to watch.

Those were done on the fly I'd presume in the initial race to upload the first Nexus 5 videos, since then I saw better videos. They're maybe not as good as the iPhone's but personally, having the Canon G12, I couldn't care less.

So now that the Nexus 5 is official how do we compare it to the Google edition phones?

Do they have better battery life and produce better pictures (at least the GS4). Could be interesting to see how the 2600 battery of the S4 compares to the one in the Nexus 5, and also if a 13 megapixel camera produces better pictures with AOSP compared to the 8 in the Nexus 5.

I believe the camera sensor in the Samsung S4 and Note 3 is far superior to that of the Nexus 5, so even if the Galaxy GE phones only had 8mp cameras, they would still win out.

I think the battery in the Nexus 5 will equal that of the S4 though, if not do better. Different CPU's with the Nexus 5 having the better of the two.

Trying to persuade my Grandad to pick up one of these. He doesn't want an iPhone (which I'd prefer as the whole family have them, including my Grandmother!) as he likes his current HTC.

Well, the battery can't be to bad based off what a member on the XDA forums has posted below. It's hard to make out a lot based off these screen shots, but the important thing is that the battery is not awful, like some have predicted.

That's a good question, though I think I personally would opt for the GS4 GE for the phenomenal camera, bigger battery, and physical home button that ensures the whole display is usable in all apps

So, where can I go to get some quality hands-on time with the Nexus 5? I am genuinely intrigued by this phone. I figure that if I can save $300 instead of buying a 5S, it would be worth my while. I'm coming from a iPhone 4.

BTW, I really like vanilla Android. I was playing with a 2012 Nexus 7 this whole weekend and it was a great experience compared to my past android adventures (with mostly frustrating low end virgin mobile phones.)

Id be thrilled with that

That's impressive for an android phone. Very exciting.

I'm impressed that my phone shipped on a Sunday. Presumably I'll get it tomorrow since it shipped from Toronto and I live in Toronto. :)

You have just given me even more hope that it won't really be 3-4 weeks before my phone ships.
