I'd like to remind those of you who are just getting the phones and who wish to root it that it's likely better to do sooner rather than later so you lose less when unlocking it.

The unlock thread has examples for various OSs. It's much easier than it used to be.

Can someone tell me what cable for the N5 to hook up to TV is it just the micro to HDMI cable thanks.
It's a SlimPort cable, like this one.

I tried that one with my Nexus 4 with mixed results. It worked well at times and terribly at others, and I've read similar reviews of other such products. Maybe they'll work better with the 5. Honestly, I'd spend the money on a Chromecast instead.

I ordered a white Nexus 5 32GB from the Play store yesterday & was quoted at 2-3 weeks for shipping. Much to my unexpectation, it has already shipped and should be delivered tomorrow! At the moment I have a 5S on AT&T and I was hoping to get nano-to-micro SIM adapter before the Nexus arrives. Does anyone know of a brick-and-mortar store I could find such an adapter? I live on Long Island.

I have an unused micro SIM available that AT&T could activate in the Nexus, but would they charge me for this?

Hmm, based on fondling points I'm kind of having a tiny bit of buyers remorse. There is no heft or quality feeling to this phone. It's not that it's cheap, it's very solid and feels like it will last a long time, it just feels like an empty display model if that makes sense. Like those empty plastic shells they have at radio shack. I kind of miss my G2 feel, and that was infamous for feeling cheapie, but it had heft and just felt solid.

Speaker is kinda bad, it's clear, more so than the G2, but it isn't anywhere as loud as my ip5.

I shouldn't base anything on my 15 minutes of use, I will give it a couple of days. My main thing now is the camera and the battery life. I kind of miss Cyanogenmod too.

They're working on CM11 but apparently the phone and lock screen aren't working properly right now.

So there's not way of adding more blocks to the settings tab when you swipe down the notification screen? Obviously unless you install a different ROM.

My main concern is, how can I turn off and on auto rotate quickly?

The power control widget is obviously wasn't updated considering it still has blue accents...

The best I can suggest with a stock phone is to drop a Settings widget (set for Display) on the home screen, then it's just a tap to open that and a tap to turn auto-rotate on/off.

Serious question. How does what you described feel any different than the iphone 5? I felt the same the first time I held the i5, but learned to love that light, airie feeling.

Based on feedback I've seen here, I would strongly recommend against an adapter. Many have reported it getting stuck, although that was especially the case when it was inserted without the SIM (i.e., when swapping back and forth between phones). I'd call AT&T and see if they could activate that SIM.

That's pretty much the conclusion I came to too. It's crazy to think that Google wouldn't put that on the drop down...or even allow you to edit the blocks in that area...

Google is following Apple by giving us less options for some reason. I see no reason why we can't have customisable toggles in the quick settings. It's available in custom ROMs, Sense, TouchWiz and maybe others.

This is one of the reasons I switch to CM or other ROMs because they give you more options. People say vanilla android is great but the truth is it could use a lot of improvements too.

No, they shouldnt charge you. I've been switching sims (nano to micro to nano to micro again) multiple times a month. Actually went to the att store to ask for 5 micros and 5 nanos so i could save future trips. If it matter, i go from an iPhone 2gb plan to smartphone 2gb plan (the plan is grandfathered now) and my bill is the exact same. Other than the multiple "add and removes"

I tried to down an orientation lock widget but it didnt play well with kit kat. Wouldn't even show up in my widgets list.

Yeah, and even Apple has auto rotate as a quick settings with their new swipe up tab.

I mean I see no reason to have the data/reception toggle over the auto rotate.

But why do they only have 9 blocks? There is clearly more than enough room for another row of toggles.

Currently annoyed by the fact that I can't have the animations in iOS 7 without the Parallax effect. Neither OS is perfect I guess :p

Who knows why these companies decide to give us less options when there's no obvious reason to do so.

Seriously considering a Nexus 5 come March when my O2 contract is eligible for an upgrade.

Has anyone in this thread "switched" and how do you find it? It would be my first Android device and I am coming from an iPhone 4S.

Ah very good. Adapter warning heeded. I'll forgo that route and see what AT&T can do. Thanks :D

Yeah, but I'm actually more bugged by the fact that it's not a default quick setting to begin with. I mean, obviously the auto rotate toggle hasn't been there in any of the versions of androids...so why does google think this isn't necessary?

I'm coming from an S3 so I'm used to having those options at the top of the notification tab.

The best implementation of the "new" quick settings toggles was in a ROM I was using...basically, if you have no new notifications, a swipe down would bring you directly to the quick settings. I don't mind not having this though.

Yeah I agree, I hated the ip5 when I first held it because it was so light and hollow feeling compared to the 4s. I actually still have my old 4 and whenever I use it as an emergency phone I realize how nice it feels, it was truly the last of the "rolex" feeling phones IMO.

The ip5 has some styling though to make it look nicer, where the N5 doesn't have those chamfered edges, any colors, aluminum cold hard feel, etc. But in terms of weight, yeah you are right.

Download notification toggle in the play store much better then stock.

For those of you who already have your Nexus 5's in hand, how is the sound quality/ voume levels of the extrenal speaker?

Obviously nothing will match the HTC One, but I find the S4 to have a batter external speaker than the iPhone 5s. Can anyone compare these?

Thanks!

I've used AOKP in the past and it had it and I really liked that feature.
