I already picked up the Note 3 but will be picking up the Nexus 5 this year as well. Want to see if I'll like stock android and a 5 inch display. Past on the Nexus last year because no LTE was a no go for me.

That's makes sense. LTE was a deal breaker for a lot of people. Can't go wrong with stock! You can build on it and make it whatever you want.

Getting impatient waiting for the Nexus 5. I can't stand iOS 7 and these stupid animations. And I loved playing with and setting up my family member's HTC One, and now Galaxy S4. So much personalization and the ability to quick compose texts...oh my god.

What are the odds this comes out for ATT right away? I have an upgrade waiting...

Nexus smartphones typically are sold unlocked through the Google Play store first. Carrier versions may not come until months later.

Interesting - thank you. Damn. May need to buy a 5S then and re-sell it since I have a carrier subsidy in my monthly payment.

That's what I did. Bought a 5S for 200, sold it later that day for 760. Totally ready to buy a Nexus 5 now.

Yes indeed. Or look into att gophone if you aren't on a family plan.

do you use go phone? If so, how is it? I'm thinking about using it for the nexus 5.

Does that mean that we won't be able to see / touch / play with one of these phones in a store?

Probably not immediately. But t mobile did sell the nexus 4 last year in stores so there's a chance they will again. I'm guessing they won't though considering they didn't even stock the moto x in stores. But who knows. I hope they do carry it.

The Nexus line has not been carried in an ATT store since the nexus s. T-Mobile has been the main carrier for all the nexus phones. Like posters have said they might not even carry the phone in store, but I would say there is little to no chance at all that an ATT store has them. Just got to buy it out right unlocked.

I actually feel like best buy will carry the phone. They have really started to carry google/nexus products (tablets/chromebooks). Of course, they will ask some ridiculous price like $699, but they usually price match

Yea I am hoping they will, but I am not holding my breath.

As if waiting won't be hard enough...

Android 4.4 KitKat website will have a countdown timer

No one knows exactly what the KitKat countdown timer is counting down to.

Does Best Buy usually over-charge for the nexus products? I went to check on the new Nexus 7 a few months ago, but I think it was listed for the regular MSRP, which either matched Google Play store or was very close.

Yes sir. On the $60 unlimited talk text +2gb LTE. Bought my last refill for $50 on eBay. I have had zero problems unlike my previous experience with straight talk. I highly recommend att gophone. Prepaid is the way to go, its time for the US to join the rest of the world. I was absolutely shocked when att announced the plans this summer, they are actually being competitive!

Since my phone is free from carrier bloat and interference, stock tethering works as well. I would imagine same will be true for nexus 5.

Friends Dont let friends buy carrier phones :p

Thanks! I'm definitely going pre paid I just wasn't sure which one. I think I'll try go phone first. I like that it uses the ATT network that I'm already used to and I can go into a store if I need something.

They don't over charge for the Nexus 7. But for the Nexus 4 it was way over what google was charging. I assume because they don't officially partner with google for the phones. Hopefully that will change.

They were selling the phone for T-Mobile, so it was T-Mobile's pricing, even though it was the same phone. Hopefully they sell it directly from Google this time -- like they're doing with the Nexus 7.

I use go phone, it's great. With online coupons you can get their 2gb data, unlim text/talk plan for $54 to $57 and that's out the door, no taxes or fees added. I believe the only caveat is no roaming, but does anyone really roam these days? I've never roamed on ATT, but I live in the northeast.

Thanks. Do you get the coupons through ATT? And I never roam here either in the southeast.

I don't mean to hijack the thread everyone but it's still nexus 5 related since a lot of people may be looking to use the phone on pre paid? Right? :)

So... was there no accouncement on the 15th? Just realized that I completely forgot that something was supposed to be announced (or was at least rumored to be announced). The waiting game continues...

Nope. We got nothing. All the news outlets are still claiming it will be announced by the end of the month though.

www.callingmart.com always has it for $57, once in a while they have them cheaper, or put up a coupon on facebook. But you can always count on $57 out the door.

And I'll be using my N5 on goPhone for sure.
