You're right. Let's get back to some real Nexus 5 news.

With the potential event coming the 28th, is anyone legitimately expecting invites to go out today? Or are we expecting the 31st and invites after Apple's event? Or straight up no invites?

I think if there was going to be an event next week, the invitations would have been sent out already. They usually give at least two weeks notice for events. For the Nexus 4 it was 11 days notice.

So would you vote for a delayed announcement or none at all?

At this point I could care less. Just get the thing in my hands!

I know how you feel. I've been using an old flip phone for over a month and I can't hardly stand it any more. I'll order it the moment it is available. Right now I'd just like to see it announced -- even if I have to wait a few more weeks for it to be available to order. I don't know what to expect.

Really I think at this point most people would be perfectly happy with another Verge exclusive. Although the 31st is still a possibility. In which case invites go out Wednesday, after all the new Apple stuff has been announced and that gives them a week. So maybe Google wants to do everything after that so as to not be overshadowed.

But it doesn't matter. I just hate no knowing. As long as I have a little time to prepare for the actual release of the phone and try and get in order in right away, I'll be good.

Right. How long after the verge thing last year could we order?? And I need to check out your nexus gem thread. I think you started it.

Whoa! Flip phone? You are a trooper.

Haha! I traded my iPhone 5 in on the Moto X and had troubles with it so I returned it. Since it was so close to the Nexus 5 release I decided to wait it out and use my sister's old flip phone instead of exchanging for something else. I really don't want to get into another contract anyway. I've already got my Straight Talk SIM and the card for the first month of service. All I need now is for Google to take my money.

Well I hope they release it on the play store tonight at midnight for your sake (and maybe for me too).

pshaw. i'm sending back the sammy gs4 to google tomorrow and using google voice on my macbook until i get a nexus 5. not having a phone is actually not that big a deal with fb messenger and gvoice, but it does come in handy from time to time.

Google has been going quite a while now without being able to sell any smartphones. You'd think they would want to hurry up the update so they can start selling some phones. At least I wouldn't want to have a big period of time where I can't sell any products.

I find it funny you ignored how I proved you wrong in everything in that post. Then all you do now is ignore it and just tell me your definition of "reasonable" and "ok" battery life. And you say I'm the one who ignores stuff?

If you consider 2-3 hours of SOT to be "ok battery life," then that is where the discrepancy lies. Having a smartphone that you can only look at for 2-3 hours before dying is quite pathetic if you ask me. We rely on our phones for so much now. They have gotten so advanced. Yet we get 2-3 hours and say it is "ok battery life"?

I want a phone where I don't have to worry about charging my battery mid day. I don't want to come home with 20% left and it be 4 in the afternoon. That is what happens on the Nexus 4 right now. And with a slight battery capacity bump and major hardware bump, a major battery improvement over the Nexus 4 is not guaranteed, yet you seem to think it is. That is why I am skeptical.

Well sorry but you are going to be very disappointed with the next nexus, and every smartphone for the next 2 years. Sorry, but if you have not notice smartphones are getting thinner, and the screens are getting bigger. Something has to lose, and consumers have said with their wallets they are ok with battery being that very thing. You just don't seems to realize things are not changing, and the Google nexus phones are not the only phones with this issue.

Also I said the N4's was ok. Nothing more than that. I said in my first post which you still seem to have missed. That I would much prefer the battery in my HTC One. Also I can make it through a day with my N4 because no I don't look at my screen for more than 3 hours in a day. I have a job that I have to go to each day, and don't have time to be looking at my phone all day. I would prefer to have the option to have my phone last longer, but I can deal with it. I don't think it is ideal or good, but not terrible enough to make the phone unusable.

We already know 99% about the Nexus 5: price, design, video leaks, the user manual, specs, etc.

Only interesting thing left is 4.4 (and Nexus 10 for some and maybe the Google smartwatch).

Yeah, we pretty much know everything regarding leaks. The main questions remaining are when will it be released and how will it perform.

We also don't have a confirmation on 32GB price, but I think we can all assume it will be about $400. Who's gonna be springing for 32GB and who plans on going for 16GB? I'm still undecided so far. I have a 16GB Nexus 4 which is a fantastic phone and I have 8GB free, but I'm thinking with a bigger screen I might want more movies on it.

Right, they are always only $50 more. Not like Apple who charges $100 more.
Ill be getting the 32GB. My GS3 is a 16GB and i only have 4 GB left. I have 8 GB being used on my 32GB external SD card so ill need the 32GB N5 since there wont be a external Microcard.

I am afraid they may be waiting too long to release, or the leaks got out too fast. We have had nothing new in the last week or so, and even this thread is getting slower. People may just start to move on. To be honest I with all the leaks I was hoping for something to come out, or to be announced this week. I don't see that happening, and with each day that passes I am becoming less, and less interested. My HTC One has been great, and if I want to play around with stock I have the N4. The N4 will be supported for the next couple of years. I was pretty excited when the leaks started, but now not nearly as much.

Il be getting the 32GB.

Ya with only a $50 difference it makes me think it will be worth it. I'm just not sure I'd take advantage of the space. What do you normally put on your phone that really racks up storage?

LOL...i find that funny. But....good, one less guy i have to worry about if i get one from the Playstore.
However, i think what your trying to say is that you are just impatient. I dont have that problem. I want it come out but i know it will soon and all im wanting to see is the battery life which ill see when posters i here get it. Im not getting before then.
Dont care about more leaks. Ive seen enough already (about the phone though id like to see whats new in 4.4) to know it is one of two phones ill be getting. We also know it wil be this month that it gets announced.

I hope this is EXACTLY what happens. Tons of people move on so people like myself who got screwed by the backorder crap when the Nexus 4 went on sale can actually get one early. I'm not waiting 3 months again. Heck, that backorder thing left such a sour taste in my mouth that I never ended up getting a Nexus 4.

Maybe all this waiting is because Google is allowing LG a lot of lead time in order to build up the launch-day stock of the Nexus 5's. So they don't have the clusterf%&k that they had with the Nexus 4.

Maybe I am a little impatient, but I also am trying to think practically. I just bought the One about 3 weeks ago, and I have the N4. I was just getting caught up in the hype when the leaks were coming out. I think I would be smarter to just hold off, and see what people say, and see how 4.4 is on my nexus 4. I have always waited until the new year on all the nexus phones, and used my return money to buy them. As I have gotten older I have gotten a bit more practical, and I think that the really early leaks may have helped that.

All my apps and pictures are on my internal card. All my music which now is about 1,300 songs, and videos which are only 3 right now,..... are on the external card. The videos are movies and i have some other shorter videos on there.

Could be. I am still undecided, so don't count me out yet.

16gb for me, no question about it. I don't use much local storage and the cheaper the better.

I pretty much stream everything right now. I have gone through so many replacement Nexus 4s that I never had a lot of pictures locally. And moving them from one phone to another was never a problem with Copy's PhotoCopy and G+ auto upload. And then all my music is on Google Music. All my movies and TV shows are streamable through Plex at any time. I'm not really one to use up a lot of internal storage on a phone. So I will probably go with 16GB. Unless of course that rumor of a 32GB 3000 mAh option comes true. Which I think at this point we can all agree won't be happening.

I see. Yeah im picky when i get a new one since i keep them a while and dont like to have multiple phones. Im not a fan of HTC so i wasnt interested in the One. I was interested in the N4 but the glass back turned me of to it and then the reported bad battery life so i skipped it. I also didnt jump for the S4. Just didnt excite me enough and perhaps i wasnt ready to get an upgrade yet. I am now
