Here's the earliest hint at battery: http://www.phonearena.com/news/Nexu...long-with-Android-KitKat-features_id48902#10-

As for design, camera and battery life, the user mentioned it feels pretty good in the hand, the camera is of average quality, and the phone would last you about 8 hours during browsing and 6 hours of video watching, so about what we'd expect from a 2300 mAh unit.

And "average camera quality..." Not a good start...

There is hope yet for Ireland it seems !!!!

We spotted the image being shared on Twitter, @N1troz posted a link to the image. And in the tweet he shared details of how this image is said to have come out of Ireland. Specifically, from someone at a Carphone Warehouse in Ireland. While we have yet to see this verified, this does fall in line with the leak we saw earlier in the week.

I am right there with you. I am using an iPhone 5 now because the N4 camera didn't cut it for me. Someone with hands on experience said the camera is improved over the previous model but still not on par with the iPhone. That was just one persons take so I look forward to hearing from others.

Ditto.

If it's on par with my iPhone 5, then great. Otherwise I don't really see the point, unfortunately.

But hopefully reviews will clear that up.

What about state sales tax? If you don't pay that on the Play Store then it's about a $20 savings... Although I guess that does get weighed against having it today and easier returns....

Sales tax would probably apply to Play Store transactions since Google has a presence in most states.

They need to put this up on the Play Store already or I'm going to get nearly nothing done at work today...

I'm really liking what I'm hearing about Kit Kat. Seems it might be a bigger update than we thought. It may bring full screen mode to certain apps where the nav bar goes away, it may bring a more robust backup system, it's supposedly going to further address fragmentation... These are some of the things people wish Android did (I personally don't worry about any of those three things myself). Kit Kat is the potential step closer to all of that. I'm as excited to see Kit Kat's official unveiling as I am the Nexus 5. In some ways, more so.

Just waiting for Nexus 5 reviews. My number one concern right now is the camera quality. Number two, battery.

average is not bad. I would call the n4 camera and the moto x camera below average, so if their average is my average...that would suffice.

I don't know. I'm personally sick of having a poor camera (HTC One -- let no one forget the camera sucks!).

Call me greedy, but I don't want a camera that's only a little better. I want a more than average camera. Google promised! :p

How would an iPhone 5 camera compare to what's expected?

We don't know because everyones expectations are different but the general 'vibe' of concern is that it will be of lesser quality to the iPhone 5 / 5S

After the HTC One camera was a bit of a disappointment for many users - those folks are wanting something tangibly different from this Nexus device. Hopefully it will be - but the concern is that they will focus on image stabilisation and low light performance to the detriment of everything else.

who really knows ? No-one until reviews and the phone is out.

Yeah I'm not buying unless the camera is above average. I used to not care at all about cameras but once you start having little ones running around that changes.

Ive got a feeling the camera will be near enough on par with that of the LG. I know the N5 will only be 8MP compared to the 13MP of the G2 - but considering its also going to have OIS, I dont think it will be that far off.

Is OIS that big of a deal? It basically helps prevent blurry pics?

The super annoying thing about cameras that "address" low light performance is that in regular light or even slightly exposed light, the light is ridiculously overexposed. That's the case with the HTC One -- regular photos or photos where there's even slightly too much light means the picture is way unbalanced, unless you tinker with the ISO.

Look, from a recent trip to Ikea:

That light did not look anything like that IRL.

The on-screen buttons on Nexus devices are extremely annoying when playing games, especially in landscape mode...and while there are mods to hide it when doing certain things, having native support for it would be great.

Yeah. If that rumor is true, it'll be interesting how it'll all work. I love the flexibility of soft keys.

What would be really great is if when in full screen mode, the phone reacts to gestures, which could signal a step toward a gesture based OS. I'm dreaming, but that's the only thing better than soft key buttons -- no buttons.

I'm really excited about KitKat in general.

So far ive been really impressed with the OIS on the G2.

Heres an LG promo vid explaining OIS in a comical way - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kngXMCSt6z4

Theres also a few pics on THIS site including the one of the wasp below caught in flight.

Pretty cool. So is the only difference between the cameras the MP count? It sounds like OIS helps more with videos than pictures?

Haven't used the G2 for videos yet, but from what ive seen online it seems to focus very quickly and have good quality results.

I only recently traded by Galaxy S3 for the LG G2 and the difference in picture quality is amazing - especially as we have a few animals we like to photo an all we used to get with the S3 was blurred shots as soon as they moved. The G2 seems to be able to handle this very well with the OIS.

Im hoping the only difference is the MP. If that is the case, I would be pretty tempted to swap my G2 for the N5 - As long as the battery life is pretty decent too.
