Google announced the Nexus 4 about 10 days before it went on sale, same with the Nexus 7. They want the 5 to be a big success and you think they are just going to drop it in the play store with no announcement? Lol. It won't be released for awhile, you can quit hitting refresh on the play store :p

That's where my mind is too. Some out of the blue announcement with no press just seems like an odd move.

Take Nexus 5 out of the equation, a major android release with no press, preview or showing off of new features? When has that ever happened?

Sorry if your opinion isn't one I listen to. And I'll keep hitting refresh on the Play Store if I so choose, thank you very much.

Isn't the main iPhone section missing it's biggest cheerleader?

iPad Air is being released tomorrow.

The Nexus 5 has to launch today. I don't think I have ever seen 2 major mobile devices launch on the same day.

Coincidentally the weekly Friday Vergecast goes live at 1 PM Pacific. Hmmm... Well if not an announcement, then maybe a quick review, first impressions kind of thing, providing they had a Nexus 5 to play with?

Just got it from someone I trust that in Philadelphia, T-Mobile and Best Buy have them in stock but obviously aren't allowed to sell until the tomorrow (1st of November).

Take that as you will.

*update* I asked if this was confirmed and he said he stopped in at Best Buy they have them in stock and then called T-Mobile and they confirmed they do have them, but can't sell yet.

Finally, we won't need to touch the mic button to start talking to Google Now.

Hopefully touchless is true when the device is off too, ala Moto X.

I believe you.

Sweet! Google better take advantage of those iPad lines are Best Buy and get some impulse buyers for their new smartphone, lol.

I was about to write the same thing.....is this another Android phone KenKnotts can get just to say it is not as good and any iphone ever released?

Don't know if this has been already said:

Android Police confirms today is the day. They've talked to five different sources and they all confirm today is the day.

Yep. That's exactly what he'll do. That's the one downside to these phones being so affordable...guys like this can just grab one and then say "but I've used the Nexus and the iPhone is SOOOOOOO much better!!!"

Now THAT'S what I like to hear!

I've already transferred the $$$ from savings to checking. Google...take my damned money! :D

If I can just walk into Best buy tomorrow and pick one up it will be VERY tempting.

Yeah same here. I got my Nexus 4 through the Google Play store last year and pretty much don't want to go through that experience again. I just want to walk into a store this time and avoid all the online headaches.

Still not sold on the Nexus 5 yet. Two things that would make me upgrade from my Nexus 4 are a vastly improved camera and better battery life. So far from the leaks those two upgrades are "meh" or "average" level quality at best.

If it can't even compare to my iPhone 5 then really what's the point? Might just upgrade to Kit Kat 4.4 on my Nexus 4 and call it a day.

What I learned from the Moto X hype is that it's a safer bet betting on being underwhelmed (especially with regards to camera and battery) than on expecting something amazing on those two fronts.

Hoping that I'm wrong though and Google surprises me with the Nexus 5.

Oh boy oh boy...

Pocketnow has an article saying that a new feature on 4.4 will be... complete cloud backup!!! Just like iCloud backup!! We would finally be able to backup game progress, app data, etc.

This is the most wanted feature for me!!!! Please please let it be true and I would buy the Nexus 5, Nexus 7, Nexus 20... :D:D:D

Let's hope it's true... and better yet, that it's available to older versions through Google Play Services!!

A Nexus 20 might be a little hard to carry around...

I have an iPhone 5s that is less than a week old that I will be taking to T-Mobile for exchange!

Android Authority has just posted an article with lots of stuff from the Nexus 5 and 4.4.
