Excellent. All set up. I now have a red flashing track ball for missed calls.

Any other fun stuff I should know about?

This just goes to show how great this community is. I've tried having this discussion on a couple of the Android forums and they either get ignored or deleted. Pshh...

Hehe I see. Android Forums are quite helpful and active.

As far as other stuff, the main nice things are the full customizable themes and what not.

Yeah I've seen you around over there. It's not quite as active as this place.

Do you get the themes from the market? I started looking around after I finished flashing this morning but had to leave for work.

Ok guys I just sold my 3GS today I am ready to make the order on my at&t N1. Questions first to those who have it already, will there be a software update to get the sense UI?

Congratulations :) Welcome! About the Sense UI the post above me is correct.

I haven't gotten into the theming because I love how it looks now but I do know that GDE and Home++ are both really good for theming and yes, they are both in the Market.

To those that have rooted the N1, did you root it for the Sense UI mainly? And are you concerned at all that you won't be able to "unroot" it at all, or get over the air Android OS updates for the handset (if I understand it correctly)? That is the part that has kept me from doing it so far...I don't want to miss the future updates to the OS, as I figure that since the N1 is Google's flagship device, it will get all the latest OS updates first.
And also, how do you like it since rooting, other than the colored trackball notifications? Has there been any incompatibility problems with programs after installing the Sense UI? Any features or functions not working?

I'm not using the Sense UI. The Cyanogenmod ROM is basically the stock UI with a lot of additions. Also, CM is one ROM that you can flash that incorporates all changes that are released in the OTA updates so you really won't be missing out on anything. Google's not nearly as secretive about their upcoming enhancements and they tend to leak fairly regularly.

Rather, in most cases, you'll get those updates before someone who hasn't rooted.

Cool I just put in my order 15 minutes ago for overnight shipping I should be getting it tomorrow then.
Okay, does the sense UI slow down the phone at all? I have heard that it does.

What version of the cyanogenmod are you using? I've done a little research on it, and I see that a few people report problems with different versions. Do you notice anything not working like it did before the flash? I see some reports of worse reception after install (again, I'm not totally up to speed on the ROMs, so I might have been reading old news). What does the version that you are running offer that's dramatically different or left out of the stock firmware?

Have you gotten your "device has shipped" notification yet? It took about 36 hours from the time that I placed my order to get the notification that it was shipping. So even though the shipping was "next day", I didn't receive it the day after I ordered. It was actually the 3rd day after I ordered the device before I received it.

I haven't checked so I sure it hasn't shipped yet. I'll probably end up getting it Saturday

I ordered mine Monday morning and got it Tuesday. But I don't think they do FedEx Saturday delivery? FedEx charges extra for Saturday delivery. My guess is you won't get it until Monday. Bummer, you'll be jones'g the whole weekend :p

Actually I'm not all that sure. When I downloaded the file it said 5.0.5.3 but when I went to install it I remember seeing something on the phone that said 5.0.5.2. I wonder if there's a way to check it on the phone...

I have observed poor signal but that's kind of normal for where I have been all day today. It seems a little worse than normal but I'm used to the iPhone so I can't say for sure. Once I get out of work and back around home I'll see how things look.

Edit: Damn. Why can't I just leave well enough alone? I went to reboot to see if I could check in the Amon RA recovery to see which version I was running and it's frozen at the "power off" screen. Lucky for me I can take my battery out. ;)

:rolleyes:I can't tell you how many times I've said that to myself.

Noooooo hasn't been shipped yet so I will most likely get it on Monday. That's a bummer. I didn't know there was an 'extra' charge for saturday shipping.

Out of curiosity, those of you who switched, do you see yourself buying an iPhone 4G if it beats out the specs of the Nexus One?

Say it has:

4" Super AMOLED
720p Video record
OS 4.0 changes (multi-tasking,etc)
and more..

I'm assuming most of you have stayed with AT&T and have paid the $529. I do plan on upgrading from my 3G this summer, but I'm not taking the risk now with a few months left.

If it has a revamped interface and also the folder concept, then I likely will be purchasing the iphone 4G also. That said, Apple updates rarely include everything that I am hoping for, so now I have options. Regardless, I will be keeping an Android device.

If it offers better notifications, native multitasking, much improved camera along with a LED flash and bigger screen then maybe.

By the way I would just like to add, Banshee + Ubuntu + Nexus One has given me the smoothest syncing process to date.

I am officially moving my entire music library from my iMac to my laptop running Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic Koala.

I've not heard of Banshee before. I'm going to give this a go on my Ubuntu installation and N1 today.

Thanks! :)
