For me it has. I now have apps installing on the SD card and now i can use my n1 as a mobile hotspot for my or my wife's iPod touches.

There is nothing more I could want now! :D

Is that the Android intent stuff kenypowa? I'll definitely give that a go later today. :D

Oh yes. It's the Android intent.

I'm really impressed with flash performance on the phone. Steve is so wrong. :p

How do you have apps installing on SD card? Move to SD is greyed out in my install.

Can someone post the AT&T froyo download link on this thread? I can't find it anywhere! Thanks.

I'm not sure how familiar you are with adb but the commands in this thread enabled me to install my apps onto SD:

No need for root or anything. Hope it helps!

I don't think there is one, yet. Not from Google that is.

Here guys...just look at this Engadget article. The links to firmware files for both stock, non-rooted Nexus Ones and rooted Nexus Ones are in the Engadget article. The one for the stock non-rooted devices is straight off of Google's servers. The one for rooted users is essentially the same file, just modified to be able to install on a rooted device. The one for rooted users is the one I used (since I'm rooted), didn't do a wipe at all, just upgraded right on top of my Cyanogenmod, and it's working absolutely flawlessly. Kept all apps, settings, homescreens intact.

I'm familiar with adb, but are you not having any of the same problems with programs missing after a reboot like most posters in that xda thread are having? I've done the adb commands, but my N1 soft resets any time I try to move an app to SD. I've reversed the command for now, and will just leave apps on in-built storage for now (unless you have a little insight on how your's is working).

From my limited knowledge, the Nexus One does an SD card check every boot which goes on once the OS loads. What I've worked out is if an app needs to load anything at boot (say a widget) it's best to keep it onto the phone memory due to the SD card not being available during the check.

The last.fm app has a screen widget which wasn't loading for me when booted from the SD card and you couldn't add it. I moved it to the system memory, rebooted and it worked fine.

I've had no apps missing so far so it seems to be working well for me. Any widgets, live wallpapers or apps that run at boot I'd leave on the system memory.

Give it a try and let me know how it goes for you! :D

EDIT: As for the soft reset issue, I'm not having that one so I have no idea on that one. :(

That's just it...I'm like a lot of the people in that thread in that I can't even get any of the apps to move. It just soft resets and the app is still on system memory. I'm still going to play around with it, but I'm not sure if it's a big deal to me at this point.

Might be too early to tell, but does 2.2 diminish the need to root? Or is there still a good amount of stuff that stock 2.2 doesn't do that a rooted 2.2 does do?

It's pretty close to taking the need to root away for me, however, I'm already rooted (it's irreversible up to this point), so it doesn't matter to me. One thing that I still love about being rooted is the fact that I can run SetCPU and govern my processor speed based off my profiles. I have it set to range from 1Ghz down to 245Mhz based on need, and that is such a battery life saver. I still couldn't do that if I wasn't rooted. And I'm eager to see what cyanogen can do with Froyo. One thing I liked about the cyanogenmod was the NEON processor optimizations that the CM ROM added, and I've not seen anything definitively stating that those optimizations are in Froyo.

Sorry I can't help you with that one Chris. Do you have your SD card partitioned with an eXT3 partition at all for apps2sd from a previous rom?

It might be worth trying it with a different memory card if you have one. The only other thing I can think of trying is a wipe and restore but that might not be the best option seeing as some paid apps are missing for 2.2 at the mo. :(

I'll read through the thread too see what's been tried.

I do have an ext3 partition on my SD card. I'm still using the 4Gb card that came with the device, and am planning on upgrading to a 16Gb card this week, so I'll play around trying to figure it out until I get the higher capacity card. And yeah, I don't really want to wipe the device and restore. I'll get a bit more serious about it once I have the new card for my phone.

Tried to do the official update on my non-rooted AT&T nexus one and it kept complaining my update file was bad. First time I've attempted it and didn't want to brick it, so I'll just wait for OTA.

Il just testing the wireless terhering with my iPod touch and it works fine! I may sell my netbook and iPod touch to replace it with a wifi iPad.

That plus the N1 could be the perfect wireless combo!

For the ATT N1 owners running 2.2:

Can you create a wifi hotspot? Apparently it's a built in feature with Froyo. Not sure if ATT blocks it somehow.

thx.

The option is there, I haven't used it yet since I flashed froyo yesterday. However, I used the wireless tether before from other custom ROMs (from Paul or Cyanogen) and they worked just fine on ATT. As long as you don't abuse your usage, you should be fine.

here are some screen shots of the wifi tether option on on my ATT N1: (NOTE: I just turned it on and it works, but I haven't tethered anything to it yet. but the option is in the menu and it turns on. like I said earlier, I've been able to tether successfully with prior custom ROMs)

How are you AT&T N1 owners getting Froyo on your phones? I read an article about how to manually upgrade but it said it was for T-Mobile N1s only.

You have to unlock the bootloader, "update" to another version, then flash the new update. It voids your warranty. That's why I haven't done it yet, I'm waiting for the AT&T build to show up.

Thanks for the info. I didn't realize the official ATT version wasn't released

I'm tempted to purchase the Nexus (again) because they added exchange calendar support w/ Froyo, however with a potentially new iphone on the horizon in as little as 2 weeks, I'll probably hold out a little longer.

Technically, the T-mobile one isn't either. It was only pushed to review units and some enterprising individuals ferreted out the link on Google's servers.
