Anyone in the same boat? if move from iphone to Nexsus One

You all are making some compelling arguments for me to move from 3G to Nexsus One.

My major concern and I wonder if anyone else has similar setup. I depend on MobileMe calendar at home AND Microsoft Exchange calendar at work. I use MM to host my website so I need it. Can I get Nexsus One to "sync" both calendar through "cloud"???

Help???

thanks a million.

I know there's an app for exchange syncing to the calendar. Not sure about MobileMe calendar... Does it have any Exchange or CalDAV protocol support?

Nexus one DOES NOT beat a jailbroken iphone 3GS... NO phone can touch it

Multi-tasking alive and well runs great..

Customization easy

Amazing apps that turn your iphone into a whole new phone

i dare you to tell me a few things the nexus one does that a jailbroken iphone doesnt

You can root a N1 and install custom ROMs that allow things such as overclocking your processor.

And even un-rooted, you can completely replace the stock launcher with other homescreen apps available on the Market.

This thread is bad, bad news.

I'm going to check out the N1 after reading the last three pages here. If I do decide to make the jump I may be selling my jailbroken, unlockable 3GS. ;)

Update: I have absolutely no will-power. I just placed my order for the N1 and the desktop dock (looks really nice, btw). I have 30 minutes to cancel my order. The live wallpaper feature sounds really neat. Can't wait!

I know there's Google App to sync Exchange Calendar to Google Calendar but it's STATIC. One needs to launch it in order to sync every time.

Still any MM to Google Calendar experience??

Things are moving too fast here! Haha

I'm surprised you made the switch, as I have read many of your posts! Good news is that you don't have to give up the 3Gs either. You can swap the sim back and forth or Wifi tether the two together. :D

This could go on forever! Does TomTom do voice searching?

Yep! Everyone I told are shocked since I am the biggest iPhone lover around here haha. Well I can't switch between both because I sold my 3GS and used that money along with a little extra dough from my pockets to buy the Nexus One.

BTW for all my EverythingCydia followers, I will continue making videos but with my iPod Touch instead;)

LOL, if the N1 is the way certain people want to go that's cool. It is ultimately just a phone.

There are many features that I would like to see on the iPhone that Android has and vice-versa. I'm sure OS 4.0 will have features that Android users will like. The main advantage of alAndroid is that there are so many manufacturers that there constant updates every month.

What I don't get is the idea that some have mentioned of overclocking your phone. That sounds insane considering it's your primary communications device. What would happen if your phone crapped out in the middle of an emergency?

I think you'll see Google Nav in 4.0 along with the heavily rumored multitasking and a better PNS system. That would put it on par with Android from that perspective except for Flash which doesn't really bother me.

If OS 4.0 disappoints, I would switch…begrudgingly. The main reason being apps. Android apps, from what I've seen, still pale to the iPhone apps in terms of quality, not quantity. Some may say that they'll get better but those really good devs charge cash for those apps. From reports, it seems that Android users don't generally pay for apps and 75% of the store is freeware. I've also heard that many apps offered require you to be rooted.

Awesome! I think we will both be getting it on Monday (You might get it Tuesday). The live wallpaper is honestly only the tip of the iceberg. You can find more info on the themes, apps, etc from lots of forums and stuff, I particulary like AndroidForums the best

I also hope OS 4.0 delivers but I just have this bad feeling in my gut that its going to turn out to be a epic fail. Apple has had too many of these in the past months, particularly with the iPad.

Just in terms of software, if they fix the PNS & allowed multitasking (which DF and AppleInsider are saying) then I'll be ok. If not I'll switch. Knowing Apple, they'll do 85% of what you want but leave you still longing for the missing 15%.

Unlike others, I wouldn't want the ability to get unsigned code onto the iPhone or Android but rather that Apple allowed for signed apps to be sold outside of the App Store to stop the unnecessary controversies.

Yeah I figured I had ordered too late for the overnight to actually be overnight.

I'm a little nervous about treading into new territory, especially after having put quite a bit of money into my iPhone (just bought Navigon for my region yesterday) but I've been on iPhone OS since February of 08 and am growing a little weary of it as a whole. I'm not going to lie and say I'm sick of it but having something different for a while will definitely be a good thing. Variety is the spice of life, they say.

I just hope it's nothing like my experience with the BB Bold. I hated that thing not even two days after I traded my iPhone for it and paid early upgrade pricing to get my current 3GS. That's why I think I'll be hanging on to my 3GS for at least a little bit. As long as I have none of the defects or bugs that have been mentioned and I can find equivalents of the apps I use daily (Todo and Checkbook; sure this won't be an issue), I imagine I'll be happy with the N1.

I'm with you 100% on this. I've always been disappointed with Apple's updates. From what I've read, the N1 covers pretty much everything that I was hoping to be delivered in 4.0, software wise. As far as hardware goes, they've got Apple beat already. I'm sure they're going to leave out the camera flash and the notification LED again this year.

I got my N1 today...all I have to say is wow...well worth it...my dad is going to take over my iphone 3gs...this thing is great...the touch screen takes a little getting used too, but overall great device...Don't worry..im still an apple fanboy...i have EVERYTHING mac...

The whole thing of wanting change is part of why I'm considering going and buying a Backflip right now. I'd get the N1 but I don't want to drop 520+ for a phone that I haven't held. I can go down the street and get a Backflip for 330 no contract. I think I'm going to actually hold off until tomorrow just because I don't want to go and drop the money tonight. Maybe I'll jailbreak my iPhone and it'll feel better :p

Don't get the Backflip. AT&T locked it down so you can only install Marketplace apps, not other apps from other sources. Plus, AFAIK, it's Android 1.5. The Backflip is not a true Android experience. If you want an Android phone but don't want to pay full price, wait for AT&T to get some more, I think they'll be selling the HTC Desire eventually.

Do I understand this right, if I purchase an unlocked Nexus One I can simply move my SIM card over from my iPhone and I'm good to go?

If you're on AT&T, all you need to do is get the nexus that supports AT&T 3g bands, pop in the simcard and go!

Does anyone with the ATT ready Nexus One know if the APN settings were already there for AT&T? I had to add my Orange UK ones manually. :( (wasn't hard really! :p)

Haven't they also removed Google search and replaced it with Yahoo for the AT&T backflip too?

If you read through the thread I already brought that up. I'm almost willing to take the punishment just to have something different.

I've also got the N1 order page up. So tempting at this point just to have something different.

Do it!

You only live once, after all. :D

Yeah, but that 560 bucks is pretty hefty...

I know. I'm feeling it too. But it came out of my designated "gadget fund". I've had the money saved up for a while to use on the next iPhone so it's really no loss for me.

It's really more of a parlor trick than anything useful (except maybe for the grass and clock one), but I haven't stopped playing with it yet.

Now that I think about it, the notification LED may just be the feature I'm most excited about. I've been hating on the iPhone for so long for it's lack of this tiny gem.

Who am I kidding? The whole thing has got my underwear in a bundle. Sucks that I have to wait til Monday to play with it.

I don't have a gadget fund like that but I'm more than able to drop the money without worrying about it. I deal with all purchases this way, even small ones.

I'll probably hold off until a bit later.

You're going to fall in love with the notification shade. You don't have to unlock the phone to see exactly what is waiting for you. The LED is nice, but I appreciate the shade even more.

I'm hoping apple will adapt some sort of notification status bar icons (a la reminder on a jailbroken phone).

So in my posts thus far, I've been somewhat jaded with Google due to the touchscreen issues and customer support experience I've just had. However, I recognize that a lot of people are interested in a more detailed and impartial comparison on the iphone vs. nexus one. Here is the best review I've found thus far:

http://iphonedevelopment.blogspot.com/2010/02/nexus-one-from-iphone-developer.html

The review is written from the perspective of someone who switched from an iphone, which is probably what most people reading this board will be doing.

Great read on that link. He hit all the spots that I would assume what the nexus one was like. I played with a t-mobile employees nexus one for 5 minutes and there was nothing really amazing about it. I was dissapointed actually about the functionality of the OS and the way it looked. The iPhone really is the smoothest phone I've ever used.
