Great read on that link. He hit all the spots that I would assume what the nexus one was like. I played with a t-mobile employees nexus one for 5 minutes and there was nothing really amazing about it. I was dissapointed actually about the functionality of the OS and the way it looked. The iPhone really is the smoothest phone I've ever used.

Its not unbiased, though, nor is it factually accurate. I stopped reading after he spouted off the multitasking part. While on paper what he said is correct (leaving apps running eats memory, cpu cycles and battery) I've had two android phones now and have never been able to see a usage difference from when I kill apps vs leaving them open. It doesn't matter how it sounds on paper, it matters how it works, and it works just fine.

Ya I do agree with you on that part where he goes into the multitasking. Even when I had my 3GS jailbroke and I would leave apps running in the background it didn't seem to slow my phone down like that. I actually didn't realize any sort of difference from them running in the background or closing them.
Especially with the nexus one with all the power behind it, I'm sure it's pretty tough to notice a speed difference by leaving apps running in the background.

I am still HOLDING on hope for the new iPhone coming in June/July....:)
I hope Apple doesn't disappoint me. But at least I know Nexsus One can be an option if they fix the Microsoft Exchange calendar sync issues.

call it whatever i have a iphone 3gs buying a nexus next week and when the new iphone comes out in july i hopeto get that. ill get that just switch sim cards to whatever phone i want to use that day. iam a tech junkie and i might need help!!:)

I've finally decided what I'm going to do.

I'm hanging onto my iPhone 3G for the time being. I'll keep an eye on the Nexus One and what happens on the Android front while seeing what could be coming with the next iPhone and iPhone OS update.

I just don't want to spent the 500 dollars on a new device at this time.

But I would definitely love one to play with. Maybe I can pick up a T-mobile one for cheap at some point.

There should be a tech rehab online for you.:D

I just want a damn good phone already. After the apple conference when I finally decide which phone I get, nexus or new iphone (probably will be new iphone unless epic fail ensues), it will be an awesome day. I'm using a stupid flip phone for the time being.

smart move.

My Nexus One arrived yesterday and am really liking it. Haven't taken it through a test of using it for a day since my sim card isn't activated yet. Can't wait for that though.

I haven't tried yet but am pretty sure that this is the case; the trackball LED does not show up through the provided Android case, correct? I would think that this should have been made a feature of the case, have less material in a penny-shaped area down by the trackball so you could see your pulsing LED in the case.

The haptic buttons have been alright because I've been aware of the problems and therefore are already prepared to hit the button correctly. Nothing serious at all.

I really enjoyed my time on WiFi yesterday with it and cannot wait to start using it out on the road (not actually while driving, heh).

A lot of the TMobile people are selling their phones because they want the ATT ones. You can probably snag one for around $400 or less.

I've been looking for one of those cheaper ones. I found one here but he wants 520 for it. He won't get that much...

Well then, I guess I should sign up, too.

Just found this link on one of my RSS feeds... http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/technology/8576392.stm

That reviewer definitely has an axe to grind with the Android system. Not unbiased by any stretch. But, worth reading as he does bring up some important points that any prospective buyer should be aware.

Myself, I think I am ordering my N1 on Monday.

As far as iTunes and the App store - I'm out'ta here :D

I believe the review was bashing the N1 more then anything. I hardly read any positive comments and he basically tried to signal out all te negative things about it.

I have been looking at the htc desire. Definitely on that once it's released. The sense UI looks attractive. Better then the Nexus one, check it out.

The cool thing is that right now they have the sense ui for the Nexus One! There are videos about it on YouTube and what not

I took a good hard look at the Desire also. I like it. It lacks the 2nd mic for noise reduction, but it has an FM radio. But the ETA is up in the air. Some say June. Plus I don't think AT&T has actually officially stated that they will be offering it yet.

As far as the Sense UI, I've read where some people like it and some like the normal Android UI better. The Sense UI does bring it better support for Exchange Email though. There's always the option to root the N1 and install Sense.

Bottom line though, is I think I finally see my way out of Apple's "walled garden".

yup I totally feel where you are coming from. I've been looking and that desire is what got me. Supposedly at&t is most likely the ones to get it from what I've seen. I like how they actually have buttons instead of the nexus one's touch which half of the time doesn't look like it really works to well.

I'll definitely be looking forward to a ETA.

How's the media player? The only reason I'm keeping my 3GS right now is for the iPod. I love having everything I need in one device. I may go with this phone once the 32GB flash cards are released. I'm not willing to carry around two devices again.
