How funny people taking other side of an argument so easily

Who was preaching on MR that pixels on camera != everything? And now the 4S has more camera pixels it's now suddenly better?

Who cares which CPU/GPU is better? If it's enough for all functionalities it's a good chip. Or is it now the time to look at benchmarks? (hint hint: what they said about Android fanboys last year)

Bigger screen with practically the same PPI, and it's inferior? Your logic

Both phones can shoot 1080p video, I wouldn't call that a 4S advantage

Don't know about battery life yet (since both of them are not available now), can't judge

So how is the 4S better again? iOS? That's a personal preference.

Actually the iPhone took better pictures before and they have made several improvements to it now... There is no evidence that this camera is as good as the iPhone 4 camera, let alone the much improved iPhone 4S...So please stop being silly. Nobody is flip flopping.

Apple took a part of their device that was already kicking the crap out of all android phones in real world use and significantly improved it, for both still pictures and videos...

----------

Better CPU and GPU will be debateable because ICS brings hardware acceleration meaning hardware and software should work better together

For sure.. Clearly Google and HTC, Samsung and whomever else will take advantage of their tight hardware/software integration much more than APPLE.

LOL.

This is one of the main reasons why the android platform always trails behind the iOS and iPhone, regardless of specs. The lack of tight integration and controls is a horrible disadvantage. They essentially work in their own worlds and hope for the best.

Apple can make software changes to maximize the hardware and hardware changes to maximize the software. Google can not do that to anywhere close to the same degree because too many people are making too much different kind of hardware. Thus it puts Android handset makers way behind Apple from the beginning.

This is a disadvantage they are likely never to overcome, this is also why you will see Android EOL in the next 3-5 years, because Google will move on to an integrated solution that can actually compete with Apple.

Seems with the Moto purchase Google realized that whoring out their OS to everyone results in greater market share, which means about as much as a ****-sandwich when the iPhone gets the consumer satisfaction glory and achieves the share they do with a paltry one or two models. Even the lowly 3GS has outsold a lot of newer Android models.

User Experience is all. A vertical business model done right (it isn't easy and the risks are legion) will always provide a far superior user experience compared to a horizontal business model. And User Experience is most certainly not subjective.

Is there an Android phone that takes better quality photos than the iPhone 4? It just seems that most of the big Android handset makers don't care much for picture quality.

With higher resolution, better low light performance, and better sharpness compared to the (former) best smartphone camera, I'll put my money on the 4s when it comes to camera performance.

I would rather get a nokia WP7. This is my 3rd time using an android and after a while i want to run away despite the "Freedom" because after you are free everything else simply sucks. I have tried everything but the experience just doesn't come close.

I will try Nexus Prime before buying, not because of specs but to see if the OS is finally good, if the on screen virtual keyboard finally doesn't make me run to market for a replacement, if the higher ppi screen is actually good and not pentile and if the battery life at least offers 6-7 solid screen on hours without me having to micro-manage all the time (i.e. make sure turn off data while viewing movies or books stored so that phone only drains battery with one activity...such a chore nowadays..ugh).

If not, specs alone won't make it. I will migrate to a nokia WP7 and see what apple or MS has in store in 2012.

Unless google makes android good enough by not using it just as an ad vehicle to spread around the globe through carrier and OEM hand outs and actually producing serious handset geared at customer, i have little faith in android even though I am using it now. Even Nokia showed with Meego an "open" and "Freedom based" OS can be robust and customer friendly, shame they decided to not follow through. I have less expexctations from google. They are not a cellphone company, they are an ad business. Let's not forget this.

Sony were the first ones introducing back-illuminated sensors for cameraphones back in 2009.

I take it you haven't used a Android lately. iphone is only incrementally smoother. I'll sacrifice it for all the shapes, sizes, price points and openness. I like the fact that new Android phones come out every other week, it's exciting for geeks like us.

Well enjoy your 16 month wait for your all so important "user experience"

That was actually WSJ that reported that and BGR linked to their story.

SN: Hope they have an unlocked version. Not going to VZW.

Wrong. WSJ did NOT report that Sprint had an exclusive on iPhone 5. They reported that Sprint made a deal for $20 billion for the next iPhone. BGR added the ridiculousness about the iPhone 5 exclusive.

Are you talking about Samsung's vertical integration? Because Samsung is much more vertically integrated than Apple ever will. They start with basic materials (SAMSUNG Total Petrochemicals, SAMSUNG Petrochemicals,
SAMSUNG Fine Chemicals, SAMSUNG BP Chemicals, Samsung Plastic Co. Ltd, SAMSUNG Corning Precision Glass) and go from there - to batteries (SAMSUNG SDI), lighting (SAMSUNG LED), PCB (SAMSUNG Electro-Mechanics), displays (SAMSUNG Mobile Display), all kinds of chips (SAMSUNG Electronics), mobile devices (obviously) including software (Bada, Android). It's as vertical as it gets in this World. And if User Experience is not subjective then what is?

It is kind of ironically funny that spec things that the android supporters always tossed out there are things they are not even better at any more... It makes it hard to be a spec whore when the specs are even worse.... Poor guys.

----------

Bigger, worse screen with LTE and inferior battery life.. Yeah that sounds awesome.

Too bad that does not coincide with what people actually want from their smartphones.

----------

The only problem is it is not better.. It was not better than the old 5MP camera... The new 4S has improved sensors. The gap between the 4S and this phone is massive for both photographs and videos.

----------

But it doesn't have it. That is the point. Not only do iPhones outperform the android phones in real world performance, now they outspec them as well. It is crazy. This 720P screen too.. It is still not as dense as the iPhone 4 screen which has been out for a year and a half.

<facepalm>This is what happens when you selectively read posts. The specs that you're basing these comments on aren't accurate. A new set of leaked specs is out there. Fail more.

iOS is tons smoother than Android, I can't wait to get rid of my Evo. The size also makes my hand hurt, after using it for awhile, definitely don't want bigger!!

Well it is missing "software". You know, the brains.

"A computer is dumb. It only does what is told. And only does it well enough as taught".

Slapping half-baked code onto monster specs doesn't make it into amazing.

You should keep in mind one interesting fact: such Android phone manufacturers as Sony and Samsung produce not just phones but camera components sensors, lenses) and full ranges of still and video cameras (including professional ones in case of Sony). The sensor in iPhone 4S is rumored to be from Sony (it better be because Sony has the best available sensor for this type of application).

Samsung is not missing software. They have their own OS (Bada - used in some of Samsung phones) and Android. Remember, Android is an open source OS. Samsung takes the source code and uses it. Just like Apple used FreeBSD to design iOS. For example, Samsung implements hardware acceleration for Android GUI (and web browser) for Galaxy phones.

Samsung can't be underestimated this year.

Samsung Galaxy Note kicks ass in benchmarks

Ever since the Samsung Galaxy Note was unveiled, the industry has struggled to properly categorize the device. “Is it a tablet or is it a phone?” is the question on the minds of everyone who sees this 5.3-inch Android device.

Whatever the Note is, it’s got an impressive 1.4GHz dual-core CPU joined together with a Mali-400MP GPU. Now one thing we do know is Samsung’s Exynos chip is a powerhouse; not too long ago we wrote how the Samsung Galaxy S II was the most powerful device out there, second only to the iPad 2.

That said, a slew of benchmark tests on the Galaxy Note showed how much of a kick-ass device it is. In a test tailored to the CPU, both BenchmarkPi and Linpack clocked speeds nearly 20% higher than the Galaxy S II — yikes.

Lastly, tests were ran on NenaMark 2 and SunSpider. On NenaMark 2, the Galaxy S II was way ahead of the bunch, but the Note came in second, but to be fair, the Galaxy Note has about 2.6 x the number of pixels than the S II. SunSpider, a system which JavaScript benchmark showed impressive results as well. After seeing all of that, it’s too bad that a U.S. launch is unlikely.

I like that the Prime is rumored to pack a 2050mAh battery while the Note is at 2500mAh.

Wrong!

And the OP's specs are wrong. 1.5 Ghz dual core

Buy Google Nexus Prime SmartPhone

The Google Nexus Prime Smartphone is rumored to be released in November of 2011. This is said to be the worlds most anticipated Android phone. Google is not looking to disappoint with giving the Google Nexus Prime the upcoming Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich). The Smartphone has a 720p resolution display called the “Super AMOLED HD” that is a full touch screen. No more physical buttons!!

Nexus PrimeSamsung will be creating the Google Nexus Prime and will be including a Next-generation dual core 1.5GHz Processor “OMAP4460”. The Nexus Prime will not have any of those annoying carrier software preloads just android 4.0. And hopefully google can find a way to keep the wireless carriers from putting restrictions on the phone like they do with the Iphone4 (not allowing to be used as a hotspot unless you pay extra).

Google will be working with more than one carrier this time around so be looking for the exclusive Google device with android 4.0 from your carrier comeOctober or around Thanksgiving November.

The Carriers that should be getting a flagship Google Android Device are:
Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, and Sprint.

The known specifications of the Google Nexus Prime are:

Ultra Thin
4.65-inch Super AMOLED screen
Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich)
4G LTE Radio Ready
1gb of RAM
1.5 GHz Dual Core Processor
1080p HD Video
2 and 8 mp Camera
Wifi IEEE 802.11 a/b/g/n

The Model Number for the Nexus Prime is GT-I9250

If that really is it I think it looks good but still not a fan of such a large space at the bottom used for nothing. :(

wow! that looks really good ICS looks really really smooth! I'm a little tempted by this, but then what about the iPhones amazing camera, but then theirs that big display, but what about siri, but theirs widgets, then theirs the app store, upgradable memory (sd cards), apple ecosystem, LTE, Aaaaaaaa my head hurts!!!! What do you guys think?

Yes, the T-Mo MyTouch 4G takes better (by a decent bit) photos than the iPhone 4. And that's coming from someone who loves their iPhone 4 camera capability.
