Yes, I definitely think some people can be more injury prone over others. I just think the formula of variables is so vast of what causes injury and how often.I'm not disagreeing with you but rather, I'm saying there are some players that have a reputation of being injury prone and that has hurt them (no pun intended) whether we're talking contracts or free agency. It really doesn't matter if its luck, being at the wrong place at the wrong time, or genetics. If a team thinks player A has been injured too much (there's a high likelihood they'll be injured in the future), they'll go with player B (or offer Player A a contract that would be less then player B).
I do think there's something to it, and I'm an athlete as well and have had my share of injuries. You have players like Farve, Brady, and Rodgers who have been in the league for so long but have had only a few injuries, where as you have Tua and Jimmy G who haven't been playing long and both have an extensive injury list.
I remember years ago, I was watching a Milwaukee Bucks Versus Miami Heat game, and Jabari Parker (Shooting guard) landed after taking a jump shot and tore his ACL for the second time in his left knee. He tore the same ACL I think two years before that. And so once you have a major injury like that, I feel like that particular ligament/tendon/bone will never be the same again, and you’re more prone to possibly re-injuring it or it won’t be as strong as the other joint/limb is, no matter how much rehab you do.
And just off the top my head, I know Rodgers has had quite a few injuries over the years, with a broken clavicle (Which he needed surgery on), a broken toe most recent and a foot fracture, a bad knee, and I believe he tore his calf muscle twice.
I guess it’s just hard to say with any athlete with the severity of the injury and how long does it put them out of commission.
