I'm not disagreeing with you but rather, I'm saying there are some players that have a reputation of being injury prone and that has hurt them (no pun intended) whether we're talking contracts or free agency. It really doesn't matter if its luck, being at the wrong place at the wrong time, or genetics. If a team thinks player A has been injured too much (there's a high likelihood they'll be injured in the future), they'll go with player B (or offer Player A a contract that would be less then player B).

I do think there's something to it, and I'm an athlete as well and have had my share of injuries. You have players like Farve, Brady, and Rodgers who have been in the league for so long but have had only a few injuries, where as you have Tua and Jimmy G who haven't been playing long and both have an extensive injury list.
Yes, I definitely think some people can be more injury prone over others. I just think the formula of variables is so vast of what causes injury and how often.

I remember years ago, I was watching a Milwaukee Bucks Versus Miami Heat game, and Jabari Parker (Shooting guard) landed after taking a jump shot and tore his ACL for the second time in his left knee. He tore the same ACL I think two years before that. And so once you have a major injury like that, I feel like that particular ligament/tendon/bone will never be the same again, and you’re more prone to possibly re-injuring it or it won’t be as strong as the other joint/limb is, no matter how much rehab you do.

And just off the top my head, I know Rodgers has had quite a few injuries over the years, with a broken clavicle (Which he needed surgery on), a broken toe most recent and a foot fracture, a bad knee, and I believe he tore his calf muscle twice.

I guess it’s just hard to say with any athlete with the severity of the injury and how long does it put them out of commission.

Putting aside the injury factor, and being unable to make certain throws physically, Garoppolo has been faulted for his mental lapses -- not getting good reads, having full field vision, and poor decision making -- that has cost the team at various times with killer interceptions.

That's not to say he's dumb; San Francisco runs a complex offense, but he's not an elite QB in those respects, which can help make up for physical deficiencies.

But, nobody is going to question his leadership, or character, and he was close to guiding the 49ers into two Super Bowls in three years. For a good contrast, compare how he handled the drafting of his successor, vs. Aaron Rodgers. Granted, SF was smarter in keeping him in the loop better than GB did with Jordan Love, but he still conducted himself with class, and it never developed into an ugly situation that has befallen many a team in similar circumstances.

It's a slim market for QBs this year, so he should be able to fetch a pretty good return when he's traded, and the team will likely try to return the favor by not sending him to a train wreck franchise like Washington. Shanahan knows first hand the dysfunction of that place, and if he has a decent bone in his body, he'll spare Garoppolo from the same experience.

Aaron Rodgers reportedly just signed a ~200,000,000/4 year continuation contract with the Packers, with $153 of that $200 million guaranteed regardless. He is now the NFL’s highest paid player at almost the age of 39.

******************************

If that’s not in pure insanity, then I don’t know what is. But then again, since his latest break up with his fiancé that he’s no longer into the ‘being a dad’ route, maybe that helps sway him back to focus more on football for whatever he has left.

Wow... not sure what to say. Good for him I guess, bad for the Packers. I just can't see them playing in a SB in the next four years with Rodgers. Call me pessimistic.

I don’t think you’re being pessimistic, it’s a realistic viewpoint. Aaron Rodgers hasn’t had a Super Bowl since 2010, so 12 years later and if a Super Bowl is going to happen, it has to happen now. I do agree that he is the best quarterback as it stands, but it’s the same end result every year for the Packers in the playoffs, which is they can’t get past that first or second week.

For that amount of money, if they can’t achieve a Super Bowl in the next two years under him, then it’s obvious there is no hope. Then Jordan Love should step up and be given the opportunity.

Green Bay way overspent on someone who is 7-9 in the playoffs and 1-4 in NFC championship games.

How can they afford to pay other players?

A couple of surprising moves, Wilson to the broncos, in all honesty I didn't see that coming after Carroll was so steadfast in stating Wilson was there to stay and he himself stated as much. Given his no trade clause, he had to approve of the move.

Rogers staying with Green Bay and Rogers being Rogers, i.e., pedantic, he's splitting hairs about the contract. Man, he seems such a drama queen that needs to get the last word in. Green Bay Tagged Adams - not sure how he feels about that, but at least that move keeps him with Rogers.

The Cowboys are close to releasing Both Cooper, once Gallup's long term contract is signed. I wonder what the cowboys will do with DeMarcus Lawrence. It would have been foolish of him to take a pay cut, as some other team will certainly pick him up for good money. The cowboys will still have to pay (maybe not as much) for his replacement. I think cutting him will weaken the team.

Wow, the Washington Commanders are desperate.
They traded for Carson Wentz, and more importantly then Carson Wentz the player they to deal with Carson Wentz's contract. 22 million base salary this year plus a 6 million roster bonus, so a cap hit of 28 million.

I had hoped he would have turned his career around with the Colts and if anyone could help and improve him, it was Frank Reich, a former QB himself but this INT kind of encapsulates Wentz's career.

Dumb move by the Commanders. Wentz is a bad QB who can’t stay healthy.

Its such a desperate move. I think Mitch Trubisky is a better move, because he's a free agent, and you'll not be paying him 28 million dollars. Plus it appears a lot of the issues he had were because of the Bears.

It wouldn't be the NFC east if they didn't have teams doing dumb moves :p

PFT is reporting that Jerry Jones is getting sued by some 25 year old girl alleging that he's her father.

The funny thing is, she states that he and her mother entered into an agreement for support (which I assume he did), but that agreement doesn't bind her. Yet with that said, why does she think she's eligible for some of his money? I mean, once my kids turn 18, I am no longer required to support them (I will). I think she'll win the battle (courts will agree she's not bound by the agreement between him and her mother) but lose the war (there's been no harm and no reason AFAIK that Jerry should be forced to pay her).

I can see Jerry being pissed off about this, and wanting to fight this tooth and nail and he certainly has the funds to do so.

"They are who we thought they were!" :D

No surprise such a franchise would pursue more mediocrity, and aside from the numbers, a player not known for his "team player" character. He'll fit right into Washington's culture.

The rest of the NFC West is breathing a little easier with Wilson gone, but Seattle has a lot of draft picks, and room under the cap, so if they proceed wisely, they'll be right back into it sooner rather than later, and with a longer competitive window.

Rodgers got his payday, but even if money = respect to him, he'll probably still find something to be dissatisfied about.

Kyler Murrary apparently wants to move into the same neighborhood as Rodgers, but dude, you gotta prove it on the field, and show at least some maturity before you get rewarded with such big contracts.

Cowboys have traded WR Cooper & a 6th round pick to the Browns for a 5th & 6th round pick.

Good pick up for the Browns.

I saw that, given they were prepared to just release him, they at least got something, even if its a wicked low draft pick.

I'm wondering what will come of Demarcus Lawrence. They asked him to take a pay cut, and he rightfully rejected that offer. While his production decreased, it would be foolish for the cowboys to weaken their defense. I don't know if they could find someone to replace him that will cost them less money - unless they see someone in the draft, of course.

Yeah, I think so, and maybe his presence in the locker room will help keep things on an even keel

If he's happy... pretty sure he was poison with the RAIDERS
