Slow down cowboy. My quote was about sodapop1's comment. If you look back through the thread you and I have been in agreement from moment 1.

Sorry, I was confused about your comment then. But it is ok, no one outside of this forum really thinks this some type of litigation is coming of this. It is standard operating procedure for the NFL. I would imagine half of the NFL has sponsorships with apparel companies besides Nike. Yet, somehow the NFL manages to go on with players not wearing non-Nike apparel on game days.

Again, I'm not suggesting that the player can sue the NFL. I'm simply saying that the player MUST pay back any money they received as part of the endorsement deal.

The short answer is no. The endorsement contracts cover activity outside of the NFL. Companies such as Beat's, Nike, MS, Papa Johns, etc. know this. It's not their first rodeo. None of the endorsement contracts can dictate what happens while the player is acting under the auspices of the NFL.

Game related: NFL controls
Non game related: Player has choices.

You won't find a sponsor screwing around with a player or the NFL. Again, no one wants to bite the hand that feeds.

15 years ago Apple would have been playing that game (and needing to), now it makes little sense. It makes more sense for Apple to remove the directly competing products, especially under the pretext of this story. It also sends an invaluable action-reaction message for future scenarios with other companies.

And the message it would send is Apple is stupid. Apple sells plenty of products that compete with theirs and the Apple store would be pretty lean if they only sold products that didn't compete with theirs.

Yup, they have been doing this for years and they all know the ropes. Nike has the apparel contract through 2017. However, through collective bargaining, that doesn't cover gloves or shoes. Players are allowed to wear the hand and foot cover of their choice. That's why we see Reebok, UnderArmor, and Adidas shoes and gloves by numerous companies.

And you're right again. Only in this forum would the idea come up of a lawsuit between the NFL and a sponsor.

Perhaps you're right but the only way to know for certain is to read the actual terms of the Beats contract.

They play that game in 2014.

Pick up an apple product, it has Samsung components in it. Apple is about making money, they will continue to sell BOSE products in store as long as there is a profit to be made.

When the BOSE deal ends with the NFL, apple can bid for it.

they're appealing compared to earbuds and other crap
sure. spend that $400-$500 you could have spent for TWO pairs of other headphones (that sound slightly better) if that's your thing. just stop trying to convince people who know high audio quality that they're somehow 'missing something' about why beats are popular. we know. it's the "b" and the customers' inexperience with really good headphones. there isn't another angle to this.

regardless, bose has one redeeming quality: mini soundlink. best BT speaker out there right now. have the team use these things.

I'm not trying to convince anybody of anything...that's your perception buddy! My Beats are used for hip/hop, rap and dubstep because of the bass energy they have. However, when doing critical listening I use Hifiman via my transport or HD downloads.

As far as Bose is concerned they're all marketing with little substance to the actual product itself. That's my opinion.

Yes, yes i do. Apple fans are just as fanatical.

You may find that fanatical apple fans feel dirty over the Beats deal.

I bet you that fanatical apple fans are hoping that the Beats acquisition is only short term.

These fans will choose their sport over some crap overpriced headphones ;)

Studies have found Beats Headphones are no better than many other headphone on the market and you can get the same results for far less money.

Studies have also found that about pretty much everything else in existence

That statement applies to Beats.

I'd go as far as to say Beats are even worse. Their sales were based on heavy marketing and association with sports stars, all over the TV. When is the last time you have seen a BOSE commercial?

Yes , and it's for the consumer to decide how much they wish to greatly overpay for average quality ;)

Apple does sponsorships as well as product placements ALL THE TIME.

One example:

They just don't talk about them.

Internally, it's not considered a sponsorship. That, what Apple calls "exclusivity" contract for iTunes.

And ad spaces, Apple just bought more than other companies.

----------

That is almost laughable. If anyone has a mountain of patents over headphones, it will be Bose. And Apple is not going to get in a pissing war here. Again, this sponsorship deal is not unique to the NFL. It happens in all of sports. I highly doubt Apple will be pulling Bose from the Apple Store over a non-event.

Yes they will. It'll just take longer. Had Steve Jobs's been alive, he would've ordered Bose product yanked as early as tonight.

Glad they have their priorities right. Headphone brand is always more important than dealing with spousal abuse.

A lot of athletes (and people in general) care about brand name and think it does matter.

I know, but it's just exploiting a primitive human need to identify with a group. "I use Beats headphones, I'm just like _favoriteNFLplayer_!!!! " It's incredibly dumb.

Also, sometimes I'm surprised by the blatant shamelessness of companies. It's especially bad here in the U.S. "Beats are in the DNA of NFL players" is a particularly dumb example. lol

I understand being a fan of a brand because you enjoy using them or they make quality stuff. But Beats are no better than Bose - neither are very good actually. They're fine but hardly worth "building into your DNA" lol

If I were a multi-million dollar athlete I would wear what I wanted! Especially since a lot of athletes do not want to change anything in their routine when preparing for a game!

This is going to get good! I'm gonna get some popcorn! :apple:

Perhaps you're right but the only way to know for certain is to read the actual terms of the Beats contract.

Again, the Beats contract does not matter. I'm not sure how many times you have to be told that. A player can not join the NFL without joining the NFLPA and accepting the CBA. In that agreement, they agree that the NFL can dictate what you can wear based on the NFL sponsors.

The player's deals with Beats have absolutely nothing to do with the NFL.

Yeah, the players are going to be pissed! I can see the Players Union getting involved! Being forced to wear Bose is almost abuse! LOL!

This is all Ballmers fault, forcing the L. A. Clippers players to only use Microsoft products! This is going a little too far! Maybe these players are Multi-Million Dollar Slaves?

Apple should just spend 3 Billion more and buy Bose to counteract this policy! LOL! :p

I can see you guys heads exploding! LOL! :D

It would be a nuke going off lol. Money better spent on hiring more people to get the jobs done that they need. Apple is spread too thin.

POW - Backfire Time!

How is this dumb? The players will be so pissed off you know they won't be seen sporting any Bose stuff anywhere. But that is exactly where you want your product to be displayed. You want the stars using your product on camera. All Bose will get from this is a few ads on TV. That is how it is dumb.
