100% in agreement. It seems the MR crowd isn't that sports savvy.

Apple gives away 50-100,000 headphones for free? hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

Besides, bozzykid said it best. Not gonna happen. Besides do you really think an NFL fan who attends games is going to side with Apple over the NFL? Riiiiiiiight:rolleyes:

Yes, yes i do. Apple fans are just as fanatical.

Forgive me for not taking your word on that. How about showing me that explicit term within the players contract?

You're kidding right? Either you know nothing of sports or you're pulling my leg. Bud, no endorsement deal trumps a players NFL contract. Not only that, no endorsement deal trumps the contract between the NFL and the NFLPA.

Bolded: How about you research it yourself. There's an internet full of answers.

It is really, really, really, really, really embarrassingly sad that you believe that.

Sennheiser, yes.
Grado, yes.
Etymotic, yes.
Bose? NO.

They are referred to by people with taste as an acronym for Buy Other Stereo Equipment. By no means am I saying that Beats is a quality product, but I wouldn't give you a bucket of piss for a lifetime supply of Bose headphones.

Define "people with taste".

Apple. As long as they make money off of selling BOSE products they should sell them.

I suppose all the other outlets that carry U2 recordings because Apple got an exclusive?

15 years ago Apple would have been playing that game (and needing to), now it makes little sense. It makes more sense for Apple to remove the directly competing products, especially under the pretext of this story. It also sends an invaluable action-reaction message for future scenarios with other companies.

As I thought, quick to assert something but unwilling to back it up with proof.

I still can't figure out why I should care whether NFL jocks can wear crapware headphones.

Beats, Bose, they're both stupid purchases for dudes who make millions per year.

seriously ? NFL can force players to comply ?

Sure. They comply every week. The NFL dictates the color/brand of your shoes, socks, jacket, shirt, pants, hat, etc. They dictate what you can drink during and after the game during interviews. The players union agreed to abide by the rules in their agreement with the NFL. No player has any leverage to sue the NFL over this unless they want to be kicked out of the union and not play in the NFL.

I once heard a joke that leagues like the NFL are akin to modern day slavery, where an owner can own another human being and can tell them to do whatever they want, and even trade them away to another owner. Sad but this reminds me that its so true.
What was the punchline?

1. Pandora is crap. Just like iTunes Radio.

2. Spotify is worth more than Beats.

I really agree with that. They should have bought them instead. I'm a paid subscriber myself and have also tried Beats Music, but didn't find it to be any better.

You're right, the NFL players sure seem like a fine bunch of upstanding members of society. They would never beat a wife, kill a dog, kill a person, etc. Surely they wouldn't stoop so low as to (gasp) break a contract.

Bose didn't attack Beats. They signed a deal with NFL, who told Beats to go home because they didn't pay up like Bose did. Does that warrant "retaliation"?

Yes, it does warrant "retaliation".

Apple NEVER does sponsorship with organization, only placements. (Because Jobs felt like that was Apple selling out) The reason Beats sponsorship exist for each individual players is because most were signed before Apple bought them out, and I'm sure there is some clause that Apple is required to honor those sponsorship.

I can promise you by the end of next week, all Bose products are yanked from Apple store, and Apple is ready to sue the hell out of Bose for patent violation.

Do you really want to go down this road? You do realize you're setting yourself up to look a little idiotic right? I would have never made the assertion without full knowledge of what I was saying. Now we can let this go, and you can trust I know of what I speak, or you can continue.

That is almost laughable. If anyone has a mountain of patents over headphones, it will be Bose. And Apple is not going to get in a pissing war here. Again, this sponsorship deal is not unique to the NFL. It happens in all of sports. I highly doubt Apple will be pulling Bose from the Apple Store over a non-event.

How about reading the collective bargaining agreement. Especially Article 51 under Endorsements and Section 2 (Player Attire).
For the sake of argument, let's agree that the collecting bargaining agreement gives the NFL the authority to dictate what a player can wear. I think you're missing the point of my original argument, so I'll reiterate myself. Let's say that an NFL player, with approval of the NFL, signs a contract with Beats to wear the product and in returns Beats gives that player a million dollars. My argument is now that the NFL forbids that player from living up to the terms of that contract, the NFL player should be legally obligated to return that money to Apple. You seem to disagree with that.

Bose sponsorship makes no sense. NFL and Sharper Image / Brookstone aesthetic don't overlap much.

The collective bargaining agreement gives the players the right to have a sponsorship deal with any company they wish They don't get permission to have their own sponsorship deal from the NFL or the team. It is not a factor at all.

And the players union has to abide by the terms. So it doesn't matter if they can't wear their headphones during interviews any more. The players have no right to sue. If they do, they will not get the support of the union and they will be laughed out of court when the NFL's lawyer's highlight the appropriate section of the CBA.

Again, I'm not suggesting that the player can sue the NFL. I'm simply saying that the player MUST pay back any money they received as part of the endorsement deal.

I'm looking at the page right now. I don't know how someone could be so obstinate regarding something they clearly know nothing about.

I'm not confused about anything. I know exactly what it says.

Btw, I dare you to find a single player who is even mentioning suing the NFL over the Bose deal. You won't.

Apple should give a set of Beats to every game atendee. Out of the box & unwrapped, so that they'd be more likely to wear them. Watch Bose VPs heads explode when everybody in the crowd has a set of Beats.

"Hey NFL...Can you ban you fans?"

Beats gave the whole GB team at the London Olympics (plus many others) headphones as an 'ambush marketing' tactic, which had partial success, the swimming/diving events being particularly overrun with them.

What was also noticeable was the amount of Beats headphones being traded at pawn/secondhand shops around the venues.
