Well, if that were the case then it would be illegal for any player to enter into a contract to sponsor a product without getting prior consent from the NFL. So either the NFL or the individual players are in breach of the contract with Beats. Ultimately, this will be decided in a court of law and either the NFL or the players themselves will have to recompense Apple.

What are you talking about? There are no lawsuits happening here. Players are allowed to sponsor products as individuals. But they can't sponsor products with the endorsement of their team or the NFL with the NFL's consent. No one is in breach of anything. I think you are reading way too much into this.

Again this is nothing new. Plenty of players are sponsored by other sports drink manufacturers besides Gatorade. But they will not be shown drinking from anything but a gatorade cup or bottle during the game or press conferences.

No surprise here. Find a "legal" entity in the USA that is greedier and more willing to ring every effing nickle out of each one of its customers than the NFL and you will surprise me again. I like American football but avoid the NFL.

Even Apple, and there is definitely a lot to criticize there under the heading of greed from Cupertino, cannot hold a candle to the NFL's greed. Of course both have plenty of sheeple who will put up with just about anything so the greed goes from bad to worse.

Whether subject is buying over-priced computers or spending scarce municipal funds building palaces for billionaires the sheeple can almost always be counted on to cough it up.

so what r "awesome" headphones according to MR audiophiles?

i like my Sennheiser (i actually thought they were bose til now) in-ears, but unless something is mono i dont hear much of a difference anyway lol

My Beyerdynamic T5p never disappoint. But the Sennheiser HD 800 are just as good.

Highly amusing! What will some players do when they can't wear their silly Beats at every grinding interview. Kaepernick might be even more sullen, but he will still have his big hat.

They're both crap.

I'll almost agree... with regards to quality Beats are cheap, but Bose definitely beats them on quality.

The only issue I have with Bose is their sound is to heavy on the low end. Other than that they're fairly decent.

Well, it really depends on the terms of the contract. It really makes no sense for a player to sponsor a product and not be able to publicly acknowledge their sponsorship.

No.

The NFL is not banning them from publicly acknowledging the sponsorship, only from doing it during official NFL activities.

How can they have 60% of the premium headphone market share when they are not premium themselves?

Apple should give a set of Beats to every game atendee. Out of the box & unwrapped, so that they'd be more likely to wear them. Watch Bose VPs heads explode when everybody in the crowd has a set of Beats.

"Hey NFL...Can you ban your fans?"

I agree the sound quality to price ratio is lacking with Beats and Bose.

However, in terms of noise canceling Bose can't be beat. Still pricey, but it makes oversea flights much more tolerable.

Well, during the NFL activities is really where all of the visibility is so I guess the players can resort to posting pictures of themselves wearing the Beats headphones on social media. Regardless of our opinions on the matter, it really boils down to what were the terms of the original contract with Beats and does the Bose deal hinder the players ability to meet those terms.

Most likely marketing.

As an example, I have a pair of £15 earphones and I've used £20 headphones which beat/match my pair of beats when it comes to quality but the person who bought them for me as a gift did so based on the brand alone.

Re/code.. wonder why they use a white slash as their favicon, since their logo has a black slash in it.

For a moment I thought it was the advertisement agency TBWA\'s (http://www.tbwa.com) favicon:

Well that one well that will run dry soon for those NFL players. That was a choke-hold move there.

I have both brands and think they sound really good. I don't know what this crap is about calling them crap.

This is ridiculous to be honest, how can they can someone from wearing a personal effect so to speak? It's really to be honest just wrong and I don't see them getting away with.

In fact, I would not be surprised that Apple--which now owns the Beats brand of products--may seriously contemplate a lawsuit against the NFL over this. And the NFL better watch out: Apple lawyers have a LOT of experience dealing with legal issues (e.g., the spat with Google over Android) and they have potentially much deeper pockets than Bose and the NFL legal teams combined.
I doubt this as Apple will be playing with fire .
