if you zoom in, it looks like a reflection of your phone from the window

While not exactly a nite mode shot, I am growing more disappointed with the wide angle camera on the 11 Pro Max. as others have stated.

Compared to the tiny 1 year old front facing wide angle camera on the Pixel 3, the Pro Max leaves much to be desired in low lit (not dark) scenes. The shots tend to be far darker than I would like, and the noise reduction makes for a muddy mess (look at the Apple keyboard to the far left, mesh on the Mac Pro, and other details). The color temperature is also far warmer for some reason on the iPhone, not true to life.

I like taking wide shots inside of restaurants, and my office (currently) is no darker than some of my frequent haunts, some of which I have posted wide (front camera) shots from my Pixel with decent success. I'll give both a shot tonight in another test.

Hoping a software update fixes some of this.

It’s 3:45am in Tokyo right now. Took this photo about 30 min ago. There was very low light in the area. My friend has an XS, and her pictures were coming out very dark. Took this shot with my Pro Max and well....damn

Very nice. Makes me want to take another Japan trip.

above the shutter button is a slider to adjust the length of the exposure. Slide it to “Off”

You can also just tap that little button in the top left of the screen that is highlighted with yellow to indicate it's on.

I can honestly say, I thought the dark mode was automatic, and thought why isn't this working? Then I read this thread.

I had to go into the bathroom to find a dark space. I am not trying to be uncouth.

This sequence looks like the start of a horror movie.

Loving night mode!

That is a stunning photo. So cool!

I see what you mean, but there is more noise under the table on the Pixel 3, and on the light on the left hand side. The light bleed on the Mac Pro is distracting also.

It’s a tough call and both shots are better than my X would produce!

Valid points, though noise is something that can be softened in an editing application. Once the detail is gone (in the example the iPhone does) there is really nothing you can do.

You don't have to be a psychologist... but based on what's the first thing owners of new iPhones do...
I DO NOT want to start a FLAME, but was the PAIN that much of not having Night Sight?

Taken last night. iPhone X vs iPhone 11 Pro

I was laying in a hotel room yesterday while everyone else was asleep. Decided to play with my 11 Pro Max camera and night mode. I was blown away. Worth the price of the upgrade for me.

I managed to get this shot of the international space station sunset flyover of the east coast on Friday night with my new 11. This shot is incredible - the station is moving over 17,000 mph! I’ve tried to photograph the moon with an iPhone in the past and wasn’t able to get a good shot - night mode really blows me away.

I took these in my living room with just a table lamp and am blown away at how good of a shot you can now get. Medium-low light is pretty typical and photos taken with previous phones always came out still pretty dark and the colours all washed out. Now it’s perfect! 😍

Both handheld with zero post processing. The 11 Pro’s colours are bang on.
