All of the iPhones cameras have that. That is lens flare my friend. The optics in the iPhone camera are not multi coated and they flare like crazy. Plus the optics are made of high quality acrylic instead of glass. So, bright lights, especially pinpoint lights with give ghost images or lens flare like that.

Oh i thought there is something wrong with my camera... Thanks for the clarification....

I agree I’m loving night mode. First picture is my XS Max. Second is 11 pro Max.

Took some test photos at home. Night mode seems awesome so far. Not artificial daylight like Huawei.

So is mine broken then? I can’t get a single photo to look right. When i open the camera app the screen is green, then the photo comes out really bad.

edit: is it possible thatit’s not working for me because the phone isdownloading everything still?

Took some quick test shots with the Xs Max, 11 Pro Max, and my Pixel 3.

Overall I feel that between the iPhone and Pixel they are close with regards to keepers, however each has their own odd behavior and noise they tend to make. One thing that is really going against the pixel, is that it requires you to hold the shot 3 - 4 seconds longer to get the shot, but it is still a great feature, and quite honestly the OG between these two phones.

The plant photo was taken in some of the lowest light I bothered to test in. Being that I am a photographer as a small business, I have to be somewhat realistic as to what these things can do! 👀

In these shots, I prefer the Pixel 2. The color reproduction is more true to how the plant and brick looked to my eye, and the noise reduction didn't kill as much detail as did he 11 Pro Max.

This shot was of a street scene that has some standard items people can run into anytime.
  • Dark road
  • signs
  • bright street light
  • halo of ballpark lights in the background sky.
In this shot, the iPhone 11 Pro won hands down. The detail it pulled was far better, the color was more true to life, and the noise reduction didn't kill most of the shot as in the case of the pixel. Oddly, in this shot the Pixel needed 3 more seconds to capture than the earlier darker plant.

In closing, sadly Apple did not give this feature to Xs, or iPhone X users. That is HUGE slap in the face in my opinion after experiencing the addition of Night sight on my Pixel 2 last year (now sold). With all the computational power in last years Max FAR outpacing even the Pixel 3, there is really no excuse I can see.

Pretty similar experience to myself, can only get a half decent night mode picture when there is some form of light coming into the room Any picture I take in complete darkness turns out exactly like that- pitch black

XR with flash vs 11 Pro Max with night mode.

This was taken of a completely dark room.

Is night mode enabled where the moon icon is highlighted yellow? If not, tap on it to enable.

You have to have some low light available. No light or near black does not work. 3 seconds is default. If really dark, adjust it to 10 seconds.
