Well, I ran an easy 8.45 this AM. Had run a moderate pace 1/2 marathon yesterday( did not use the Nike app.) Today the Nike app showed a distance of 8.59 miles vs my Garmin235 reflecting 8.45. If this is the case I kinda fell sorry for folks who just train with the Nike app. When I have run with the AW2 activity app it has been much closer distance wise.05-.09 on a 10 mile run. I continue to note that the HR seems to match both my Garmin and AW2 on the phone app- yet Garmin Connect has it the same as on my Garmin 235.
I may be suffering from too much info.
QUESTION:How do you delete the NIKE+ coach plan? I foolishly filled out all the stuff for a marathon I plan on running in February and realize my training over the last 40 years far exceeds the program plan. I realize for newbies it may be a very good plan. Thanks.
I will give the NRC one more shot tomorrow, if I see similar overages I will stick with the AW activity app and my trusty Garmin235.

It would show in your NCR app on iPhone.

I have the same problem. The app does not record a map of where I ran very often. This and the NRC app force closing on a regular basis completely ruins the experience for me....

Other than that, I quite like the Nike+ Watch, I returned my SS Milanese loop for it.

Make your apple watch is on 3.1 firmware and NCR on phone and watch are the latest version.

Scroll down in the app on the iPhone for map/route.

In the watch NCR app, scroll down on the front page with the crown and turn on the Advance setting to show HR(if you want that is).

Probably a dumb question but what is the difference between normal & advanced mode?

Also, is there a way to make pace the main part of the running screen instead of distance?

Thanks for your prompt response. The problem is that I sometimes get the activity with a map but not always.

I ran 11 miles today with both the Nike+ and my Garmin 920xt. Surprisingly, the Nike+ (11.04 miles) was extremely close to the Garmin (11.03). Conditions: mostly sunny with a few high clouds (Phoenix, AZ). I was kind of expecting the Nike+ to be a bit off considering the Garmin is a dedicated fitness watch, but really excited that the results are very similar. Might have to do a few more tests to see if that continues.

The one thing I HATED about he NRC app was the Current Pace metric. I used advanced mode and used the page with current pace in the middle of the screen (I run half marathons, marathons, and triathlons so current pace is very critical to me). So the reason I hated NRC current pace is because it was never steady. It was spiking all the time. Pretty much unusable. The one thing I love about the Garmin 920xt is the how smooth the current pace is. Never spikes and always adjusts quickly if I start to move faster or slower. I ran a pace of 8'50 to 9'00 for basically all of my run and the Garmin showed that every time I looked at it. The NRC was all over the the place. Sometimes even 1min higher or lower. It just kept jumping around. Again, basically an unusable metric. Not sure if its the GPS unit in the watch or how the NRC is processing it.

However, I LOVED the presentation of the page showing the current pace. Black background with big volt font with the pace in the center of the screen, and then smaller front of 2 other metrics below in white. So easy to see my pace with a quick glance at the watch. Just wish current pace was accurate lol. Ugh. Ill probably start trying the Apple Workout app, along with some others (Strava, etc.) to see if current pace is more steady.

Some other notes, I really liked wearing Nike+ watch over the Garmin. Lighter and more comfortable. At times felt like I was not even wearing anything. Also the Nike+ band is awesome. So much better than the original sport band for running. The original band always seemed like it would just collect sweat. The Nike+ band is so much better with the breath-ability.

No, if you start on your iPhone then the iPhone app runs and there is no way to 'hand off' to the :apple:Watch app.

Not sure this is right. I tried it twice tonight: started run on NRC on iPhone 7 and then looked at NRC App on Apple Watch Series 2... the two were synced. Admittedly this was just inside my house rather than going for a run but I don't think it should make a difference.

I hope this continues to work and that it uses the iPhone GPS to override the Apple Watch, as I think the iPhone GPS is materially more accurate.

I think there was a button somewhere to end plan.
EDIT: Its under "plan preferences" in the "my coach" tab.

My issue with the plan is I can't seem to run it from the watch app. If I have to run it from my iPhone, it sort of defeats the purpose of having GPS in the watch.

Thanks so much. I guess I will rely on my 40 years of running with over 85,000 miles which includes 19 marathons and 27 ultra runs. Nick

Another quirk I've found using the app on the watch to track a run - it doesn't register that My fastest 10K time despite doing 6.50 mile & 7.50 since getting the watch on Friday.

It's starting to feel like using the watch app means compromising on a few features available to the phone.

Seeing as Spotify is pretty childish with Apple (no tvOS, no watchOS) you should switch to Apple Music if it's not a big hassle. You'll get service that integrated well with the ecosystem, and on your watch Apple Music is an app .. meaning you will be able to switch between your workout and music controller very easily by just double-clicking the crown (to last opened app).

Use Watch app on your iPhone.

Got tired of waiting and not being able to workout with the AW and listen to music with Spotify so took the plunge - just cancelled my very long premium membership and signed up to Apple Music... just need to find a way to switch my playlists

Good luck with the playlist transfer. Don't think there is any way.

FWIW I'm considering just such a plunge. I've been with Spotify for many years too but feel there is never going to be any integration. Just loathe to dump it and put all my eggs in the Apple basket.

Just found an app called Stamp but it's pretty far from free

Ran 8 miles this morning: AW2 with the Nike app and my Garmin235. Used HR from the Nike app. AW2 showed 8.01 miles/ Garmin 8.00 miles. Tough to beat that. Pace was a 3 second difference in pace. Strangely the HR average didn't show up on the Nike app but was reflected on the AW activities app. The HR was pretty close to what I normally see with my Garmin for the same pace/ distance /temperature with both the wrist HR or when I use the chest strap.
I think I will continue to run with both watches. Going to switch and use HR from the Garmin and turn off the Nike HR. One negative- with about 1 1/2 hour run the battery was down from 100% to 60%. Will see if battery won't lose so mucH if I use the Garmin for HR. These runs are without my phone. Actually I have never ran with my phone. Been a Garmin GPS watch guy since the Garmin 101- "the brick".
I hope some of this info is helpful to fellow forum members. Nick

Hi Nick,

Thanks for your feedback. I was wondering how you went about switching off the internal HR sensor and using the one on your Garmin unit. I have a Scosche Rhythm+ that pairs successfully but there is no indication of which actual sensor is being used.

Thanks in advance!

On the Nike app you can turn off the HR monitor on the AW. The Garmin has the option in settings to use the wrist monitor or turn off. If I use a HR strap, it automatically uses that for HR. Hope that makes sense. Nick

Awesome. I hadn't noticed the option on the Nike app.
Cheers!

My 2 biggest bugbears with the original Apple Watch I have is if it's raining the screen js unusable and wet sweaty fingers dont work, and the speed of uploading playlists is painfully slow ,is the Nike + version any better or just the same I'm in the north west of England so it's always raining :(

So my Nike+ watch is now a complete nightmare with Nike Run Club. It doesn't give me any NikeFuel nor do my runs register on the Leaderboard. I contacted Nike support and they "nudged" my account which only resulted in my runs showing no miles. Anyone else having these issues with the watch/app?

I think it's bizarre that this running Watch makes you choose between heart rate (watch app) or elevation (phone app).

Worse still is if I start a run on my phone it doesn't hand off to the watch app so show progress.

+1 about the pace metric jumping all over the place. I had my phone with me, so it was using my phone's GPS. Software issue?

Does the Nike Apple Watch have the ability to track runs on treadmills? I run a couple days outside, but also at the gym.

Both the Nike app and the Apple Workout app have a mode to track indoor runs. How accurate it is at tracking, well, people's experiences appear to vary.

Thanks for confirming. I use the phone app to track indoor running and it's not very accurate at time either, so I can live with that. It would be a lot more comfortable having the watch on wrist than running with phone in hand.

It should learn more and more about your running style if you run with it outside using GPS before using it inside at treadmill.
