Work with them? To allow people to pirate games they spent millions to develop?

Well, they're not going to do anything with them, and there's an obvious demand for old Nintendo ports. They could have turned GBA4iOS into an app store for old Nintendo ports and made bank, but Nintendo is stubborn as a mule and apparently want to leave money on the table.

Am I the only one that really likes the Wii U?

We do too. It's just _fun_, we got other consoles, but it's the one we play the most. Nintendo 1st party titles are [of course] outstanding, and for those of us who want to play with our kids, very family friendly. The GamePad offers some interesting mechanics too (it should be really slick with the new Wii U Zelda, for inventory, alerts, etc.)

Heck, we have even been using it for Amazon Video, the UI is pretty solid.

If you want Zelda now, check out Oceanhorn. One of the better games I've played on iOS.

That's looks fantastic, great recommendation!

lol. You're all kidding yourselves if you think you'll be playing real Nintendo games on iOS. They'll use these apps to get you to buy one of their consoles ... which currently are both awesome.

If Nintendo succumbs to the freemium mindset where they want you to make IAP to purchase coins and such I'm gonna ****ing cry.

As an adult, your criteria is different. On the Xbone and PS there are very very few games I can let my 5 year old play. Both because of the content of the game and also the difficulty. Nintendo however offers a bunch of games appropriate for young children. Kids are not concerned about resolution or features. Only experience. And Nintendo seems to get that.

This is what became of SEGA, they became a software company (outside of arcades). They have been forgotten about.

Thank you, someone gets it. SEGA is dead. To me Nintendo makes games so good that you buy their console. People are mad that they need to buy a nintendo system to get those games, thats like someone here saying why cant i get this andriod app on my iphone, two different things.

People (including myself) completely misread this and read what they wanted to instead.

Carefully reread the article. Nintendo didn't say they would be porting existing titles to iOS. Nintendo didn't say they would be developing games on par with existing titles on iOS. They said they would be making games for iOS which would raise awareness of their games on other consoles.

I would expect this to manifest itself as basically offering demos / minigames on iOS for free and saying "Hey, go buy our console and the full game now!"

Nintendo's problem is and always has been that they totally and completely suck at marketing. They've gotten away with sucking at it for 20 years because fanboys have sold their products for them.

I do not have one game app on my iPhone. However, if/when a mario game app is released, I sure as heck will download that to my iPhone without a doubt.

Awesome!

iDraw, Stitcher, and Nintendo, are the three things that will keep me using an iOS device.

Now if only I could get a proper NES controller for the iPad...

would gladly pay for FULL Mario, Mario Kart, and Pokemon games. If they can do DS quality games on phones then I'll pay DS prices for the app. Only reason why I don't have a DS right now is I don't want to carry any other gadgets

:apple:TV + Nintendo Gaming Channel. Yes Please :)

Good controls is crucial in gaming, tapping on the screen is horrible.
So atleast give us a good controller along with the games :)

looks like EOY they finally turned a profit in 2014! good, hopefully this will mean better releases. cause 2013 was disastrous.

Yup, 2013 was a black spot (software sales aside). 2014 was great. It all broke loose once they released Amiibos in Nov 2014, $1b in 1 month from toys! It's crazy.

Well sure, I've got a soft spot for Nintendo's back catalog (who doesn't?), but all I'm really hoping for is that they bring their incredible level of excellence to iOS and Android.

The thing about Mario games is just how much polish there is. Nintendo's attention to detail is legendary alongside Apple and Disney both.

Finally, Nintendo makes the right decision that will keep them in business.

They could very easily and quickly become the top iOS game developer.

You know what would make it even better? An official Nintendo iOS controller. They could make all of their games play just fine with touchscreen controls, but give people the option to play with a controller made by Nintendo. Then they can still get some hardware revenue out of all of this.

Am I the only one that really likes the Wii U? They got rid of those annoying motion controls. I HATED the Wii because of that. The Wii U is a million times better. I do not care one bit about graphics. Their games are very nice though.

Not at all! I've got all the current systems but I only really play the Wii U. I like long-lasting games so I'm currently only playing Mario Kart 8, Smash Bros (Wii U) and GTA Online on my PS4. Aside from my 3DS and Vita games.

Less FUD! Nintendo are doing great. 2013 was a bad year, 2014 was great, 2015 looks to be great too. There are plenty of links in this thread about how their finances are doing.

An App store? For a emulator that allows people to run pirated games (poorly) on iOs.

Yes, let's continue to call Nintendo stubborn as a mule for not wanting to allow an app to run pirated games.

To the ones focusing on the fact that they will not be porting older games, I say this. It's a start and shows that they are conceding the power of iOS and Android gaming. Nintendo is in trouble and it's only a matter of time before they are pressed into putting their classic games onto these platforms to stay afloat.

Haha!

I guess all it took was multiple quarters of multi-million dollar losses for them to get their head out of their butts and listen to what the consumer wants!

Clearly nobody here has a 3DS or played any hand-held console before, because if you had you'd realise that you could never play any of the current or old Zelda or Mario games on a touch screen phone.

There's a reason they wont port the originals over to a smart phone and that's because the user experience would be rubbish with no buttons.

It'll just be new stuff that's simple so that you can play the games on a smartphone touchscreen.

Yay Mario! Not familiar with the legend of Zelda but i i'll give it a try

Just wondering, does anyone know why wikipedia claims Zelda game (1986 version) was a history game changer?..is it the story?

Because to me it looks like Bomber-man with a less interesting gameplay and background story
Remember not a hater just curious

You've probably played Oceanhorn, Wayward Souls, and stuff like that, right? Open ended, non-linear exploration games filled with tons of neat tools to use, and thousands of secrets to find?

Zelda was the first game like that. It was a pretty big deal back when it first came out. Even the cartridge was coated in gold!
