What outdated hardware? Mario does not need to look like Crysis you know.

The arcade style they've stuck with since the beginning will not last forever. Mobile is where that sort of gaming is moving, stepping into that market is what will keep Nintendo afloat. In my opinion.

Some modern games from Nintendo could be a blast on iPad. However, what will the model be? $30 Games? $40 Games? In App Purchases?

Loosing $$$

Are they still making money with their system and games?
I bet not! Their pockets must be hurting to finally changing their direction here.. Millions could have been made for the past 5 years.

Look at the sales for Nintendo's handheld offerings and say, with a straight face, that they need to move their products to mobile devices.

Doesn't matter. It's still software. Nobody uses a DS or the Wii because of the OS, they use it for the games. In the world of Macintosh, it's the other way round, people wanted to use the OS. And Apple allowed people to use OS 7 without Apple hardware, just like Nintendo are allowing people to play their games without Nintendo Hardware.

Let me give you a more relevant example since your only argument is to dig back in the 90's with OS 7.

Microsoft Office. While it was made for Macintosh first, when MS began shipping more popular versions of Windows they made Office for Windows. They continued offering it for Mac all the way to today. THEY KNEW that by continuing to offer it for Mac it wouldn't necessarily jeopardize their Windows Office business, because after all it's just productivity software and they are a software company that sells.....software.

After Apple allowed Windows to be installed on a Mac it has definitely put a dent in Windows-based PC's. Many more Macs were sold.....not necessarily just because of Windows being installable but that definitely helped a great deal. Now people see Macs just about everywhere.

My point is you're stretching this way too far because it DOES matter if it's the OS vs. just the software. Nintendo most likely will continue offering their consoles but there is nothing wrong with them offering their legacy games for tablets and phones. It will do nothing but increase their revenue.

Wrong. The Wii U officially became a profitable venture for Nintendo in late 2014, and the 3DS handheld device has been a license to print money for many years. They're looking at a very healthy Q1-4 2014 financial report.

That example is nonsense. Microsoft Office has never been tied to any particular Microsoft based hardware and neither has Windows. They've always allowed it on 3rd party hardware. By continuing making the Mac version of Office, Microsoft are not losing out on hardware sales because Microsoft Office has never been used to drive sales of Microsoft's hardware. 0/10.

I completely agree that TLOU is a fantastic game. But that doesn't compare to what the Wii U currently has. That may change as the current gen builds steam but I still feel that Nintendo's 1st party games have the most fun and most replayable titles than any other system past and present.
(Sega is a close second :) Genesis and Dreamcast for life!)

Really? I own 14 Wii U games, 7 PS4 games and 9 Xbox one games. Hmm Wii U is winning the current gen race in my home....

The Last of Us is better than any game currently available on the PS4, Xbox One, Wii U, and arguably PC.

lol to you maybe. If rockstar can make an almost perfect port of their GTA games to ios I'm pretty sure a Zelda sandbox style game would work too. Not to mention its my favorite :)

you can't even give a reason as to why it would be horrible.

The 3DS version of that is a console seller, so it'd be a horrible idea for them to basically get rid of that for a market that isn't even going to want to pay what the game it worth. There, two reasons for you.

It's not going to matter anyway because they won't make anything classic for iOS. However port over any Mario, Zelda, Metrioid, Mario Kart, or Pokemon originals and people will surly pay what they are worth.

People were whining about paying 17$ for FF games. The iOS market is sick.

lol I didn't mind paying for FF. I would pay for some of the Zelda titles if they were the full version not watered down. I guess a fair price would be in the 20$-30$ dollar range. You don't think it would sell? iPhones are bigger and faster more suitable for mobile gaming, and who wouldn't want to play multi player ios Mario Kart on iPad ?? Yeah people would pay $$$$$$

It isn't the power of devices I question, it's people paying. And no, I don't think it would sell well enough to make worth it. I agree that your price is good, though.

No worries, you simply don't listen to reason and realize your example was way farfetched and looking at some of the replies to your earlier post it's plain to see that I am far from alone in disagreeing with you. Good day.

Yeah they'll complain about how $2.99 for a Mario game is too expensive

and sell tens of millions of $5 copies a year.
So make a fraction of the revenue that a single generation of Pokemon or version of Mario Kart does?

Nintendo generally does 100-500 million USD per release.

Thats more than the major mobile development houses make on their entire library.

Square Enix priced the Final Fantasies ridiculously high. They priced Tomb Raider 1 at $0.99 and Tomb Raider 2 at $1.99, I would have payed at least $9.99 for each, but the fact is these old games shouldn't be that expensive. They even fully updated them with HD textures, and added iOS gaming controller support, which the morons at activision haven't done for call of duty zombies....

You do realize Nintendo has posted massive losses the past like 3-4 years? They're doing horribly. They'll realize after the next console failure that they'll have to just sell software.
