I will tell you that most of the 5G speeds I have seen over the last year have actually been less than that. There are a couple of pockets where I have seen speeds in the 100-200, but most have been less than what you are seeing. It is just going to take a while to build out.

Like "5Ge" speeds in Austin?

that's the truth... verizon says 5g on sub6 will currently give little to no speed boost over a similar LTE signal although they claim 5G has other advantages in terms of data stability etc. that's why verizon literally "flipped a switch" and turned 90% of their LTE network into "5G" last week because it didn't suddenly get faster. there is years to go until the base 5G shows real, real speed advantages over good LTE and even more years until mmWave (verizon's ultrawide band) is realistically usable in a lot of places.
I do get full bars at my house with both LTE, or with 5G set to auto. Never got that before. Now that could be because of the Qualcomm modem which appears to be a lot better than the intel modem I have in the 11 Pro.

My friends this is what you call MAJOR BS! Misrepresenting to a T!

This was my first test around my area where they have just turned on 5G with four bars

Only thing I noticed on the T-Mobile 5G here is the latency and jitter are much better. Speeds were about the same. That’s what you’ll see most of the time since most 5G is barely faster than LTE but should provide better latency and be less likely to get congested.

I am also hoping for better coverage inside buildings.

I noticed on my 12 PRO from Verizon. That my speeds seem slower now. And streaming video is struggling. Lots of buffering etc. I tried to reboot the device. But same thing keeps happening.

I’m talking to Apple support right now thru chat and they say it’s a known issue and they are collecting information to forward to engineers.

5G should be a lot faster than LTE, your network is shortchanging you if the speeds aren't any better and you're sure you're in a genuine 5G cell area.

Try forcing it to use 4G only and see if it works better.

All I know is it’s on 5g and I have 4 bars of service. According to Verizon’s coverage map I am in 5g area but not 5g uw. Just going off that

I'm on AT&T and 5G is slower than LTE. Oh, well...
Same here. Popped in my T-Mobile SIM, and 5G was faster than LTE at that location, though not faster than what I’ve gotten from LTE in other locations.

When I get my 12 Pro Max I will probably try out 5G just to see the speed difference but I feel like I will probably end up using the 4G only mode to save battery life.

For me to use 5G i would have to up my plan by $25AUD a month, a rort and not worth it.
