Do you think everybody know what is control centre... A person does not know how to adjust screen brightness probably won't know what control centre is

So you're suggesting that a person who knows the multitask bar volume option cannot figure out control centre... Hmmm...

Yes. The way iOS 7 do is completely different from iOS 6. On iOS 6 everything from control to multitasking is all in one place. In iOS 7, it is separate.

People are so used to double press home button to do everything. Swipe up is not that intuitive as you might think,

Actually plenty of people don't even use the whole multitasking view, and even less of them know that you can swipe in that view and get to volume and other options. So, those who actually do know about that, very likely represent a group who will either already know about Control Center and what it offers, or will quickly figure it out (as they did with multitasking view and the extras it offered in previous iOS versions).

That's sort of disturbing that someone conducting a workshop about iOS 7 in an Apple retail location was not fully informed about iOS 7.

Not unusual. In another workshop 20 minutes in the manager instructed the presenter to take a lunch break then go to red zone. She refused, said she was doing workshop.

The manager walked away. I hope she was not reprimanded. Excellent blue shirts in that store. Managers only count beans. It's all about sales now.

Exactly what??? you think everyone has time to piss about reading what the updates do? some of us have more important thing to get on with in life.

"Exactly" my arse!

If you somehow didn't notice the massive controversy surrounding the radical UI changes and gnashing of teeth that the iOS7 redesign stirred up, I'm not quite sure what to say.

I actually wish you could swipe up for multitasking and double click for control center. That would work better for me.

It's amazing how so many of you blindly accept whatever it is that Apple policy and don,t even assert your individual rights - as if God himself had decreed that we all must accept a change and there is no turning back. Anyone who resists the will of the mighty apple is a winer or a troll who must, MUST accept the will of apple .... You can not see how important it is to allow the consumer to revert back to a previous OS in the wake of a major redesign. You do not see that most users of the iphone do not closely follow OS design changes but merely get a message on their phone that says that there is a software change that is recommended.... You can not see that it would be fair, right and just to allow access to io6 for a longer time so that those that .... I find that stunning and very revealing about some of the previous commenters

With many changes in life there literally is no turning back. You have to deal with the outcome of your decisions. And No... I don't see why you are being so negative about not being able to roll back. What Apple does is for ease of use. That's why they have a closed platform. It's so if you restore you don't have to re-update to the new version again. It would be stupid and tedious.

Funny you know Microsoft kind of the same thing. A lot of people upgraded to windows 8 and ended up hating it with no option to roll back unless they bought a license key and did a fresh install of 7 (good luck finding a retailer who still had or has 7 for sale). So to say Apple is all bad is just plain funny. They all do it to so,e degree.

So...what you are saying is that you could do it if you wanted to with Windows. Seems like there's a difference.

Catering to the lowest denominator doesn't mean something is actually better for the rest who are not part of that group. And a real life comparison to software is more than even a leap.

If you were an Apple enthusiast you would have known what iOS 7 entailed before you upgraded.
Even someone who follows every possible detail would still have no exact idea of how the upgrade would perform on their device in their typical use. I'm sure those who are running into various battery issues could have known it would be happening to them when they would upgrade, right?

Hate to burst your bubble, it was a bit of a non-event to most people, never even made the news in the UK. Normal folk simply use the phone and update when the little reminder pops up.

*facepalm*

Maybe you should read more attentively to know what the other person is trying to say...

Precisely my point... Just last year I discovered you could swipe left the second time and there were volume controls... When watching a walkthrough video for a 100 doors level... And I have been using an iPhone for a loooong time... So if a person know that I am sure that person already knows about the control centre... That definitely wasn't as intuitive... The control centre is definitely a 100 times more intuitive...

Going back to the previous software has never been possible with Apple products.

Sure Android must be the same?

The only known software reverse or downgrade I know was like Windows.

Oh I can't get used to the ***** pile that is iOS7!

Why? Listen:

  • removing visual clues like how big a touch area is behind a button (no background)
  • icons harder to recognise because of outlines and no fill colour
  • buttons harder to recognise by replacing a simple icon with text
  • buttons harder to prioritise because only difference is font weight
  • harder to read because of too high contrast, too thin fonts, coloured fonts on white background
  • inconsistent design - icons sometimes icons, sometimes other icons, sometimes text, sometimes other position
  • too many animations making each action slower than before - you have to wait for animations to finish
  • colour palette too bright with too many colours - no care taken

TL;DR It’s ****ing ugly and hurts my eyes

Quite a few professional companies keep the full version history available as you pay a lot of money for it, so are entitled to choose the version that works best. Drivers are another example as often new version can have unforeseen problems.

Can't you install any compatible OSX version on an Apple PC? I never owned one but I'm sure than you can.

On my Android phone I can install any compatible version I want: https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images#takju

I assume he's talking about iOS devices. His statement is still not quite true though. I believe you were able to downgrade software on iPhones until iOS 4 or 5, whenever they started signing blobs.

You were able to do it through unofficial methods usually using some exploits similar to jailbreaking jumping through a fair amount of hoops (and even then not always).

I've been hearing this since June 10th. You can't stay on iOS 6 forever. Man up, upgrade or switch to another platform.

And that tumblr is just filled with people who hate change.

If someone wants to stay in iOS 6 or below (and many don't even have a choice if they have a somewhat older device), they can do so just fine. Nothing crazy will happen to them or anyone else really.

And what happens 2-3 years down the line when the device dies or you want to upgrade? Better get used to it sooner rather than later, I mean...

There are a lot of alternatives. Android lets you personalize all you want, I'm sure can even get iOS 6's style back if you love it so much!

When you have to upgrade and don't have any other choices then perhaps. Until then you can easily do without it if you want. Just because you might not want iOS 7 doesn't mean you are somehow not worthy of iOS and have to switch especially when you are just as happy with iOS 6 (or lower even). Why does it matter to anyone if anyone else upgrades or wants to stay with a previous version? Talk about whining.
