File bug report.

There were plenty of screenshots, videos, reviews available for you to check out iOS 7 before upgrading. It was all over the news, you can't really claim to not have known about the major, controversial design changes before manually upgrading your phone.
probably repeating something that keeps in getting pointed out on practically every page of this thread (and other similar ones): none of that will tell you what it will be like for you for your typical uses on your particular devices.

The amount of BS in this thread is reaching a new level.

So you really think that 61% adoption level means 61% happy customers? Are some of us such blinded fanboys we can interpret statistics?

You think it's ok to tell people to upgrade, shut up and move on? To try silence their concerns?

You really think everyone knew or had enough info about iOS 7? - My very own mother still doesn't even know iOS 7 exists and her iPhone doesn't ask her to upgrade either... My very old aunt upgraded and didn't know what was coming... I think we should all take a break, move away from the internet and realise that not everyone knew anything about iOS 7, and how pathetic we are for being here all day on the internet thinking the world acts, thinks and sees everything like we do, or that they do everything we do.

Why isn't this thread closed already btw?

Exactly what??? you think everyone has time to piss about reading what the updates do? some of us have more important thing to get on with in life.

"Exactly" my arse!
Even if you do read quite a bit of stuff out there it still won't tell you everything you will find out when you actually run and use it yourself, and it still won't tell you what it will really work like for your particular typical uses and for your particular devices.

No going back to iOS 6 = no more Apple purchases! I'm starting a movement

Whether or not you have time to, as you put it, "piss about reading what the updates do" doesn't change the fact that there was tons of information out about iOS 7 before its release.

I wouldn't have any problem with Apple allowing people to downgrade by the way. I just think arguing that you didn't have any information about the changes in iOS 7 before release is a little disingenuous.

Still a fairly moot point.

In my opinion one loses their right to complain about changes when in their own words they couldn't take the time to at least do a rudimentary investigation of what those changes might be. Your point about people not getting a complete picture and told they try out the software with their individual use cases is valid however a lot of complaints (not all however) I've seen about iOS 7 are regarding things that a lot of information was available about prior to release. I wouldn't really have an issue with Apple allowing people to downgrade as long as they made it clear to those people that they would not be supported on the lower operating system versions. In fact, I would prefer it. I like to jailbreak my devices and it would make my life a lot easier.

I dont think people do need to downgrade, apple should have addressed the issues and made sure it worked on all devices, or cut back the features depending on the capability of the device (like airdrop).

But to say that everyone knew is a nonsense. I didn't consider this upgrade any different than 6.00 to 6.01, why would anyone concern themselves about an upgrade.

OSX and windows apply so many updates that no-one cares what they do as it's generally believed all upgrades fix and improve the OS.

I did a workshop at Apple on iOS 7. The person conducting the workshop knew less about iOS 7 than I did. He answered questions by stating that he was still learning the new OS.

So, if attending a class at an Apple retail location is not enough what is the average user expected to do to educate themselves?

Most normal people do not spend their days contemplating Apple or any tech company. Lots of complaints on iOS 7. Maybe there is something to them.

I'm not saying that everyone knew. I'm just saying that, for the most part, the information was out there, regardless of whether you chose to use it or not.

That's sort of disturbing that someone conducting a workshop about iOS 7 in an Apple retail location was not fully informed about iOS 7.

It's sort of disturbing to me that there are people who need a workshop to use iOS 7.
Especially considering it functions almost exactly the same as iOS 6.

Can you imaging the outcry if one of the typical windows XP updates changed it to vista with no option to go back?

Apple should have had some disclaimer that this was more than a standard bug fix, honestly who reads all the terms and conditions before agreeing.

IOS6 had it's problems, and sticking with it would never get them fixed, sort of damned if you do and damned if you dont from the user point of view.

IOS5 to IOS6, everything just worked better, there's no reason I should need to do research on a phone operating system to see if a routine update will have any profound effect.

That's obviously not a feature. Plenty of folks out there not having any issues with battery life going from iOS 6 to 7.

If you are having issues with battery life then it is probably a good time to restore back to factory and begin installing everything again fresh.

First thing I did!

I get a girl asking me how to change screen brightness on iPhone and how to change volume on iOS 7. Figure that out...

There are a lot of not so intuitive parts to the iphone if you have never used a touch screen phone. First time I tried to call someone on my wife's iphone I gave up as there was 'phone' or 'call' button in the contacts. Every other phone I had seen or used was a case of select the contact then press the green phone to call - the iphone had no green phone symbol.

It's easy for people to seem stupid when you are so used to a system. In the same way osx is completely alien to most, or even xwindows is to the average street person.

There's nothing worse than those that look down and laugh at those who dont know.

But the girl had iPhone 5... It is not like her first day on iPhone... For all intent, I was suggesting that people used iOS 6 not necessarily know iOS 7 that well...

Before you can change volume using multitasking bar, but not in iOS 7. Some people used to use that...and that is perhaps faster than physical buttons

You can do this in the Control Center now. It's easier and makes more sense.

Do you think everybody know what is control centre... A person does not know how to adjust screen brightness probably won't know what control centre is

But the same person would know how to adjust volume from the multitasking bar/view (one of more obscure things than even control center in iOS 7)?
