If someone wants to stay in iOS 6 or below (and many don't even have a choice if they have a somewhat older device), they can do so just fine. Nothing crazy will happen to them or anyone else really.

Thing is you can't downgrade. So if your device fails and you get a replacement, you're stuck on iOS 7

well to be fair coding for downgrading can easily be next to impossible to do. It is very high risk for less than 1% of the people out there. It is a very high possibility of destroying critic databases and DB tables on the deice. Plus it would cause a lot of apps to break and so on.

Very little to gain, a lot of work and very high risk. Yeah not going to happen.

You are aware that people who demand a downgrade only want Apple to continue signing iOS6, so that they can perform a factory reset back to iOS6 via iTunes, right? Nobody expects a one-click solution to revert an existing iOS7 installation to iOS6.

So...what you are saying is that you could do it if you wanted to with Windows. Seems like there's a difference.

----------

Catering to the lowest denominator doesn't mean something is actually better for the rest who are not part of that group. And a real life comparison to software is more than even a leap.

----------

Even someone who follows every possible detail would still have no exact idea of how the upgrade would perform on their device in their typical use. I'm sure those who are running into various battery issues could have known it would be happening to them when they would upgrade, right?

I didn't say there wasn't a difference. What I said was unless you pay for another copy of outdated software not really a way to roll back with in windows for free you would be doing a fresh install

Ios 7 is beautiful. Long overdue. People need to try it before they knock it. Give it a chance. It has potential to be a great operating system. It's updated look and feel is nice. Just needs a few bug fixes.

Plenty of people who liked the looks of iOS 6 and earlier. That part is fairly subjective and people can certainly like different things withit one being any better or worse than the other really.

Your idea is reasonable. Only one problem. iOS updates are one way trips. Once a device is upgraded there is no way to revert to the previous OS if the user is not happy.

I am having a moratorium on all Apple upgrades. There is way too much free stuff from Apple now that disappoints. Somehow they managed to screw up Pages!

If memory serves the first Mac shipped with two applications. MacWrite and MacPaint. A word processor and a paint application.

Now if you want a decent word processor you need to buy Office. So foolish. What is the top brass trying to prove?

I just had to get a replacement 4s phone after a sim failure after downloading IOS 7. I was able to sync everything to the new phone and keep the IOS 6.
Just do not agree to downloading IOS 7.

With MS you at least have the option to pay (unless you happen to already own the downgrade, in which case it's free).

With Apple you have nada. And you'd still be doing a "fesh install" (that doesn't preclude you from backing up and restoring your stuff, of course) if you only could.

Like SusanK said, "try it before they knock it" doesn't really work as there is no way to just try it. Commit 100% permanently before you knock it is more accurate.

iOS 7 may be beautiful to some, but an eyesore to others. There really isn't that much new over iOS 6 anyways in terms of usable features. Control center is decent, activation lock is probably good. Personally, I like the new Safari app (but that is my opinion only).

On the other hand, iOS 7 introduces large touch response delays after every animation, kills the Music app for many, has many more instances where it is more complicated to use, and is full of bugs affecting battery and stability (although your experience may vary).

If it weren't for the delays in touch response (I've often typed 3 letters of a Message before it starts registering, causing me to have to back up and start over), and the terrible Music app, I could forgive some of it more. Certainly can't blame others for wanting to revert back to iOS 6, especially given how long the bug fixes are taking.

I think you mean you waited "in line" overnight for the iPhone 4 not "on line"

Yes thats all i got from this entire thread. the rest is ramblings.

You've read the entire 35 pages and came to the conclusion that the rest is just ramblings? Good job bro!

The animations can be switched of in iOS 7.03, and I never had an issue with the music app either on my 4S (which ran all of the betas as well as the GM) or my 5S

iOS 6 also had bugs a plenty including some that killed the battery life when it was introduced. I'm not going to mention apps with the exception of saying the app was and is very good. The issue is the data loaded on the back end. It took Apple a while to fix those too. These problems happen every year with every iOS update. They all get shaken out.

I get the SIM failure on my 4s as well but do not have the warranty :mad: Destroy my perfectly working phone and now you want me to buy a new one?? So furious at apple.

lol I love how this thread won't matter in about a year

The GF is going in on Sat for her Genius Apt for IP4S covered by AppleCare. She has the ghosting issues with her touch screen, just like when you push the screen too hard on a old skool calculator. Most likely the screen won't be swapped out since you gotta enter the phone by the battery side, I just hope she gets iOS 6 device like yours if they issue her a replacement device.

Why do you love it? That's a weird thing to say.

Maybe it won't matter a year from now, maybe it will be just one of a few examples of Apples hubris on display that will be even more evident a year from now.

I find it sad that so many people are unable or unwilling to respect opinions that differ from what Apple states is the way things should be.

Even with the animations off, the large gap in touch response after the fading animations is present.

The music app has so many flaws it has its own threads around here. Bugging out until it crashes is at the top of the list for serious issues, but the layout deserves runner up for poor design changes.

Oh I can't get used to the ***** pile that is iOS7!

Why? Listen:

  • removing visual clues like how big a touch area is behind a button (no background)
  • icons harder to recognise because of outlines and no fill colour
  • buttons harder to recognise by replacing a simple icon with text
  • buttons harder to prioritise because only difference is font weight
  • harder to read because of too high contrast, too thin fonts, coloured fonts on white background
  • inconsistent design - icons sometimes icons, sometimes other icons, sometimes text, sometimes other position
  • too many animations making each action slower than before - you have to wait for animations to finish
  • colour palette too bright with too many colours - no care taken

TL;DR It’s ****ing ugly and hurts my eyes

No, the animations are not turned off. The swooshing and sliding animations are replaced by equally slow fade animations instead.

Strange, I find that the fades are much faster. Back to roughly the sort of speed iOS6 had.

I'll also reiterate for another person who keeps going on about the music app. I have had no issues with it. I use it every day for about 5-6 hours (I'm constantly playing music at work). I'm not saying that others are or aren't having issues. I'm saying that I don't.
