Hmmm, not good Apple, not good. Android is getting a bigger and bigger foot hold every day in the UK and Blackberry is becoming popular because it offers free SMS between Blackberry's and in the UK people text more then talk. So if no new hardware is launched, then Apple risk loosing sales. Simple as. Far too many new phones come out for Apple not to launch one without consequences.

What's wrong with the iPhone 4? Wouldn't you rather they waited and came out with a strong update than bring something half-arsed to the table?

People need to calm down. A lot of you are acting as if Apple won't release a fifth-generation iPhone this year. WWDC isn't the be-all-end-all. It's very possible they introduce iOS5 at this WWDC June event and follow up with a fifth-generation phone (with iOS5 on board) in September.

I have a 3GS and would like to see a release of the iPhone 5 this summer. After 2 years my battery is shot. Lasts half a day before I have to charge it up again. I've started considering an Android phone. My iPad 2 has become sufficient in all my iOS app needs.

oh no, there goes the stocks ... No iPhone on june? thats a first, I hope people in wall street does not get crazy about that

Add me to the list of PO'ed
I have been waiting for the 5 and if they postpone it I am going droid.

If anything there are more Verizon customers waiting for the iPhone 5 than those who bought the iPhone 4. If they DON'T release the iPhone 5 this year there will be pissed off Verizon AND AT&T customers.

Verizon customers who waited for the iPhone but didn't want to buy an 'old' phone when a new one was coming out in a few months and AT&T customers who are looking to upgrade.

If it was between an iPhone 3GS and any Android phone on the market, I'd probably buy a new battery for my 3GS and keep on trucking along.

(Or upgrade to the 4, which is a substantial upgrade and unlikely to disappoint.)

Maybe I missed it, are you saying that iTouch+iPhone+iPad users is less than Android phones and tablets now?

Nope, I never said that. I said their market share (which means quarter based sales) in the smartphone arena is catching up if not already better and that we're starting to see stories of the Android Market being more lucrative to certain devs than the Apple App Store. We're at the tipping point and the last thing Apple should do is delay a refresh.

Unified iphones

Has anyone stopped and thought. if the iphone gets released in sept/oct then they can launch a new VERIZON AND A NEW ATT IPHONE at the same time. rumor has it they will launch the white iphone on one or both networks. this will give them that boost in sales to outweigh the decline in sales that a delayed iphone release may cause.

yes they normally release on an annual schedule. BUT this year has brought changes, namely with the verizon iphone launch in february and possibly a white iphone being released at any time. it seems apparent to me that all this, plus their apparent cloud movement have caused them to possibly delay the hardware to september. i think the death of that person incharge of the maiden data center could possible have something to do with this possible delay

The Big Announcement

Might be ye-all White iPhone...

But this may all be about Verizon... There would be a few disappointed iPhoner's if at June there is a unified handset... well they just bought their kit then it gets succeeded...

Apple is preparing for the Apocalypse at Dec 2012. Would be unprofitable to put out iPhone6 for 5 months, so both iP4 and iP5 will have a 15 month cycle.

Trust me on this.

This seems highly unlikely to me, though it could be possible if Apple was truly pushing for an evolutionary update as opposed to an incremental one.

4 in screen, a5 and NFC are all good steps, but Apple would be severely behind if they released a 3g only phone in July and didn't release a 4g one until a year later.

If Apple did do this, I could see them possibly dropping the iP4 price, or maybe even releasing the rumored iPhone mini thing.

But I don't want to wait until September :( They only way i'll think it was worth the wait is if the iPhone got LTE

I know it would ruffle a lot of feathers if there is no iPhone 5 till '12 but I'd be perfectly happy as it would coincide with my 2 year ATT contract. Perfect timing for me to upgrade and with that much time between the iPhone 4 release and a supposed iPhone 5 2012 release I'd imagine it would be one Hell of an upgrade! I would hope so anyway!

Wonderful! I was finally going to upgrade my original 2G this coming June/July. My iPhone is starting to get a bit sluggish, for a lack of a better term.

I trust that there will be a new iPhone release prior to the end of this year.

It's quite possible Apple just doesn't want people to stop buying iPhone 4's and this is there way of throwing people off.
