Oct MBP speed bump = "refresh"?
I'm confused about the MBP refresh news posted by MacRumors Oct 21 and Oct 24. It sounded like a refresh was to occur in Nov, but then there was a small speed bump in Oct. So was the Oct refresh the one that was expected to happen in Nov? Or are we still waiting for another refresh?
On Oct 21, MR posted this:
"Just yesterday, 9to5Mac claimed that a debut of updated MacBook Pro models was "likely" to occur next week, offering a minor speed bump refresh to carry the line through until the launch of Intel's Ivy Bridge platform next year. AppleInsider now reports, however, that the MacBook Pro launch will likely not occur until "early next month"."
On Oct 24 (three days later), MacRumors posted this:
"Apple today quietly released a minor update to its MacBook Pro line, offering upgraded processor, and in some cases graphics and/or storage options at the same price points as the previous models."
Does the "minor update" described on Oct 24 represent the "minor speed bump" described on Oct 21? Or are we still waiting for the "debut of updated MacBook Pro models"? To me, "debut" implies substantially updated models, not a "minor" speed bump in existing models.
I understand that the entire MBP line is due to be revamped with Ivy Bridge in early 2012. I'm just trying to understand whether another round of updates is expected to happen between now and next year?
Thanks,
Mike
