Well, depends on how significant the update is, if it is just a speed bump then it may just be a silent update to the Mac Store, when everything else goes live.

Nah. The update will be pretty significant i think. Rumors all point to a redesign. But it needs to happen NOAW.

They could at the very least mention a upcoming release in the next few weeks. How can they fill an event with a tiny ipad that does the same as the big iPad?... If so, this will be the most boring event ever.

i am really so sure that there won't be any new iMac tomorrow.
Think of iPad mini, it's still not announced but it's already got so many information leak about it. If iMac is really going to receive any update tomorrow, how could there be not any news or photos mentioning the new design of it?

don't argue that it maybe because it is only a spec bump, so no photos related to this shows up. I am telling you that, sorry, the next update must be a redesign one. As mentioned by other, if it's really a spec bump only, it doesn't need to take 500 days and they can do it much earlier.

Definitely, iMac is facing some production problems.
keep patient dude, you have no choice:eek::eek::eek:

the reason for the delay of the imac are problems with manufacturing.

I don't know why that is so hard to understand.

Also, there is usually no easy prediction as to when those kind of issues will be resolved.

You'd think after 530 odd days that they would have these issues ironed out!!! the next iMac has already commenced being worked on before the last one is released, so they have had plenty of time to sort their sXXX!

There are so many independent factors which could explain all of this. To say that there won't be iMacs today because we haven't seen photos yet is very vague. We have seen a lot of indications that new iMacs will be unveiled today, not all of them must necessarily be right, but they also suggest not to be so pessimistic.

Let's just hope the best but expect the worst. ;)

And yes, there's no choice if u wanna get an iMac.

Maybe we didn't see any leaks because its a simple specbump.

There have been leaks. Even a photo of a new system's insides. I don't know why people compare iMac leaks to iPhone leaks.

resellers in Australia are being told of very tight constraints in ordering any imacs, has been like this for a few weeks. Generally its so they dont have any old stock when new stuff comes out.

Same here in the Netherlands. Many of the online shops are out of stock.

Jim Dalrymple sort of hinted on his podcast there will be no iMac refresh today. It sounded like the new 13" Retina MacBook Pro is a certainty though! I believe the desktop refreshes (or whatever will replace them) will be on-hold until early to mid 2013.

What did he say exactly?

You know nothing. Let's just be upset after the event. If there's no iMac refresh today, Apple will hopefully explain it (rememer 2004). I still believe that new iMacs will come today - even if you see the article on 9to5mac.com very negative, it just says that some "varieties will not be ready to ship directly after launch"...

Yeah I know, I would even understand a reduction of prices in actual models because of the delay in the new model, but saying nothing would be disappointing

If the new iMacs aren't announced tomorrow at the event, 100% they'll be silently introduced through their site in the week or two after, as they have from time to time the past years. No way Apple misses out on Christmas-related shopping sprees.

I am in total agreement with you on the release of iMacs sometime this month, and that it does not necessarily have to be tomorrow. But if it does, it may very well just be silently updated on the Apple store immediately following the keynote.

We are saying that week to week and the reality is that we are always wrong... If today we don't have news about the iMac... we can quit waiting.

Remember: "Tomorrow never comes" and we have said "tomorrow" many times here

A keynote does not happen every week. Nor does an earnings call.

Everything points to a 21.5" release in my opinion.

One thing is for sure, Apple are producing new iMacs (spec bump, re-design.. whatever). Every news outlet has reported this. The 9to5 article posted a couple of days back simply confirms that.. Apple are having troubles with the production (how many months have we been aware of that?) of a particular feature - many rumours suggesting the 27" screen lamination being the big sticking point.

IF there are no new iMacs released today, then there certainly will be within the next couple of weeks. It makes no sense for all of these news outlets to report various production problems only for the problems (and new iMacs) to not even exist in the first place.

Too much smoke without fire this time my friends.

They are coming.. they are coming.

I am convinced that we will not see a refreshed iMac at today's event. With the iPad Mini, 13" rMBP, a new Mac Mini, iTunes, and iBooks, I cannot see it fitting in. I feel like they would want to spend a lot of time talking about the iMac and they probably want to spend even more time talking about the iPad mini, its just too many products for one day. Combined with rumors of shipping delays, etc, I think the new iMac is still a couple months off.

We've seen this before with the original rMBP event. EVERYONE expected a new mac pro, Apple didn't (well, barely) deliver. There were simply too many other things going on. Does anyone else feel this way?

I guess I'll be proven right or wrong in a few hours.

I don't think your waiting for an imac anyway George. From your profile you look Macced to the max. If its not released today can someone please pm me when it is released? I desperately need to stop checking this forum. Need to blow this popsicle stand

I could not care less for a redesigned iMac, I expected a re-fresh as to CPU and GPU in May this year - perhaps move to USB3, faster Ram and a few options on SSD - none of which would have caused any hassles for Apple and its supply chain.

We are now in a situation where they are selling yesterday's technology for a ridiculous price - particularly given the large drop in price of LCD ISP panels in the past 12 months, drop in Ram prices and no doubt drop in antiquated GPU prices - the Apple tax is surely a hefty one currently on the iMac and leaves a very bitter taste in my mouth.

Lets be frank, iToys are fine, and if this is Apple's future, fine by me, but at least have the grace to allow others to build Mac Desktops and install OSX on them legally - better still, hive off the old Apple Computer-side of the business and concentrate on their iToy's and allow those with a love of desk-tops to develop exciting machines for Mac users, and not specs-wise crippled machines that may look nice, but fail to keep pace with other manufacturers offerings.

My i7 Sandy Bridge BTO 27in is now nearly eighteen months old, Ivy Bridge has now been out for six months and both AMD and NVIDEA have been offering top notch mobile GPU's since April/May.

I now see no reason to update now until Haswell, heck, due to the fact they'll probably drop the Optics to make the iMac even more anorexic, my 2011 Sandy Bridge may hold its value exceedingly well, much like the 2010 revision of the mac mini!!!!!!!!

How do you know that with certainty? It is just as possible they could be releasing entirely new desktop computers in 2013 that replace iMacs and Mac Pros or at the minimum provide major upgrades to them. That would also explain the delay.

That doesn't make sense to me. Why wouldn't they want to sell out all the old stock instead and minimize the number of outdated computers they wind up with?
