Just bought my MBP so I'm happy they didn't do anything crazy. :D

lol...same here! I bought mine 3 weeks ago and was beginning to regret not having wait until the new updates. I'm glad Apple is keeping the MBP line unchanged. Anyways, what would make it better? ;)

So... in all of your guys' opinions, should I hold out to get an MBP? I'm planning on getting top of the line, so I really don't wanna get a 2.6 only to have something faster come out. Not to mention, if there's gonna be an update soon, I'm hoping for a drop in the Canadian price... I'm just really, REALLY horrible at waiting for new toys :(

I'm just interested in getting the most MBP for my money, since the price has remained the same for a long time now. An update or a price drop would make it perfect..

i wish apple would pay more attention to their most central product line, the MBP, and not ignore it as the make retartarded toys such as the macbook air and the iphone. all they are is toys. MBP is the heart of apple, i cant believe they treat it so poorly. the next update better be major, otherwise there will be alot of dissapointed people.

Exactly.

It was a home run when released and is STILL top of its class.

I don't want to be a Laptop Beta Tester.

I want a proven, tank of a laptop with the style of a MacBook Pro.

And I've got it right now.

I'm guessing you just bought a MBP recently? If so, then yeah no wonder you're so against them updating them. Stop spamming those damn articles.

decisions decisions, is the macbook pro perfect now? or do i wait til the air features get put in?

I knew there would be no MPB update, it makes no sense to. Of course, wishful thinking is better than reality.

And Bingo was his Nam-o.

Exactly.

It made no sense to upgrade the MBP.

It is a best seller, and is continuously rated a best buy as early as this december by PC magazines:

+1

I was hoping that there was going to be some update to the MBP for I was looking into purchasing one. I guess I'm going to have to wait longer.

I highly doubt this is the reason. The chip delay seems like it will be a 2-4 week delay max. Apple would have still wanted to announce the upgrades at MacWorld if that had been the original plan.

I'm guessing they didn't want to take the focus away from the MBA (macbook air), but it is certainly a disappointment b/c many of us want a new updated MBP.

So they wait a week and announce new MacBook Pros next Tuesday, just as they announced the new Mac Pro a week early. That way, everyone's focus for this week is on the "Air" product line - MacBook Air, Time Capsule, and :apple:tv2.

Ah, No, This is NOT going to happen.

You will wait a long time for updates.

Haha, dante, you're ridiculous. I know that you recently purchased the MBP and because of that you're extremely against them updating it. I apologise, but it makes one hundred percent sense to update a "pro" machine that is more than 7 months old. The MacBook was updated a bit more than five months after its last processor refresh, and the Pro line should follow the same type of cycle.

Posting articles will never change our minds. We understand it's a nice machine, and it was nice last year in June, also. It's silly to purchase a machine that has the same equipment that it had 7 months prior. The way technology moves, it's smarter to wait for the performance gain (though minor) and more recent technology (45nm).

You're an imbecile. I'm not saying they'll definitely update them, but your trolling and incessant bias demonstrates how childish you truly are.

Where are your facts? Whether they update the processor soon or not, your computer is the exact same. The only thing that will change is your ego, which I can tell is quite inflated.

Man, I have SO MANY MACHINES here in my studio I could really care less about trying to Psych myself up over money spent.

I bought a month ago to handle a $45,000 web project we booked -- the MBP MORE than paid for itself the day it arrived.

Please! Get over yourself.

I merely share experience to assist others who are stuck in the waiting game.

FYI--I deal in real world performance, I am not a "Stat Junkie."

Truth be told, if you do your research, you will see that Penryn provides NO NOTICABLE speed improvement over current Santa Rosa in 90% of apps.

I don't predict a case redesign for some time as Apple will keep ACD's, Mac Pros and MBP's consistent.

Actually, we were HOPING they would do a BLOW OUT redesign.

We were totally prepared to put this MBP 17 on Ebay immediately.

We use the MBP 17 to impress our web clients during on-site presentations, so we love having the latest and greatest.

Nice try at playing psychologist however.

My ex-girlfriend would agree with you however, that I am 1) Ridiculous and 2) an imbecile.

Remember, these are just my opinions: I am not trolling -- it is MacWorld! Can you name a better day of the year to spend an hour on Mac Rumors answering posts??

I don't predict a case redesign either. The only thing I'd expect would be a very simple processor refresh, just like the ones that happened with the MacBook on 1 November 2007. With the similarities between the MB and MBP increasing, one would assume that something would happen with the MBP before June 2008.

The mobile Penryns were certainly announced last week, and I think they'll make their way into MacBook Pros within the next month. I'd prefer a computer that runs cooler and is an overall better value for the money (what makes it a better value, of course, is subjective).

Ugh. The MBP is not Apple's central product line. Apple is about innovation and is focusing on the consumer. That is the smart move on their part. You call the MBA and the iPhone(and I am assuming iPods as well) toys. So what? Most people aren't going out to buy the biggest baddest laptop they can. They just want something that works. Some just want something "cute" or "trendy". It's a matter of preference. Look at the number of consumers vs. professionals. Why would they NOT concentrate on consumer products? They put a lot of concentration on consumer products in 2007 and they made 40% more than the previous year! Look at the success of the iPod and the Macbook. The consumer is the heart of Apple. Apple wants to increase it's market share and getting more college students and soccer moms to buy a MB or MBA instead of a Dell supersedes that of getting professionals who already know how good a Mac can be to buy a MBP.

I've been waiting for a new MBP since August. Sure it's a disappointment that there isn't something brand new and shiny, but you can't blame Apple for doing what they did. Maybe Intel's fault for having a shortage of Penryn chips. Maybe Apple is waiting for Montevina. It's ludicrous to say that Apple is treating the MBP poorly. Despite being released last June it is a top of the line machine still today. They aren't neglecting their product or their user base.

Well said -- true enough.
