Hehe, first I waited until today to see what the buzz would be about the MacBook Air....I would love to have it but since it has no FW it would not suit my needs.

Now, I want the MBP but it looks like I will wait some more to see it with the magnetic latch and new Intel chip.

Im very patient (good think I dont need it).

You call the MBA and the iPhone(and I am assuming iPods as well) toys. So what?

My iPhone "toy" sold a $2,200 video commercial to a client while we ate lunch two days after I bought the iPhone.

I agree with you -- I like toys like that.

Well said -- true enough.

Allow me to apologise for calling you an imbecile. I, too, believe that a case update won't be until at least this summer. All I want is a processor bump for MY ego. Will I be able to tell the difference? Probably not. Will I feel better about having something more current? Honestly, the answer to that question is yes.

It's unfortunate.

too bad they didn't update the MB line or the MBP line, I really thought they would give the normal MB a aluminum casing, and give the MBP a new look

the MB Air is really a nice laptop, but nothing for me. and how come they did not announce the iphone 2

Apple will *never* give the Macbook an aluminum shell unless they change the MBP to an even more glamorous shell (like gold). It's one of the most striking differences between their product lines, and a continuation of their approach with the Powerbooks and iBooks. Waiting for this is like waiting for Apple to license their OS to run on non-Apple hardware, or add a second trackpad button--not going to happen.

Holy crap ya'll are ridiculous. I'm just as disappointed as anyone that they didn't update the MBPs, but give me a break. To waste time complaining or to say that Apple "is going downhill" is just absurd. This was a big product for them, and they're not yet ready to steal the show by offering a MBP with the same features and better specs for about the same money (because then you really ARE just paying for the thinness). Give them a few weeks and if they still haven't offered anything, THEN start complaining.

BTW - apple stock ALWAYS goes down on the day of the keynote.

Apology accepted no harm done.

I understand your point of view.

Sorry for so many posts: I have no life and look forward to MacWorld.

It's either that or start drinking.

They have no reason to update the iPhone this early (it's been six months). It's still way-improvable through its software with so little of its usefulness-potential unlocked.

If you think unleashing a new iPod design on a yearly basis is torturous enough for consumers trying to keep up, try making a much improved model (let's say, with 3G) when all of your current owners are contractually locked in to their current one for two years. That's probably a net loss for customer faith.

I've been looking forward to it for a while also. In all honesty, I've been ready for this since October. Kind of sad, especially to just wait for an update that didn't happen! Haha.. hopefully soon.

Any ideas?

So what happens now? When will the MacBook Pro get updated? If so, will it be a big update? The most I'll wait is another month, other than that I'm just going to buy one.

Probably not a big update. If you can't wait till June then I would just go buy a refurb. They are just as good and you can still buy AppleCare for them.

You may see a very minor speed bump in the next month to three.

You will notice a half hour gain in battery life but will not notice a speed increase in most uses.

I do not expect we'll see a redesign until next fall.

There is another thread going where this is discussed in detail.

I could be wrong.

I was waiting to see if they made any improvements and am sort of disappointed. However, the MBP is still a fine machine and I'll probably purchase one in the next couple of days.

Well I hope you don't mind me saying, but I am really hacked off as well. I even stayed late here in the UK to watch the MR live coverage (Thanks guys BTW) and sure whilst the Macbook Air is a nice bit of kit and I could easliy buy one, I have been holding off buying a 17" MBP in the hope of a LED backlit screen and at the very least Penryn processor update.

I know that the MBA will look totally cool and awesome, but the processor would just suck for my needs. So I am now consider just not bothering with the MBP, buy the cheaper mac book and put money towards a Mac Pro for the more serious machine.

I have delayed this purchase since before Leopard, but I cannot wait until May which is when the much talked about Monteneva chipset comes out. I would be totally gutted to buy a MBP now and spend the best part of £1900 only to have the version I really want come out in just 4 months later.

Sorry for the ramble, but just had to air my frustration. What 2 do now.

I Want My Speed Bump!

I am so gosh-darn mad - - - I THREW MY PB1.3 AGAINST THE WALL!!!

Grrrrr!

I'm going to REPLACE IT with one of those SONYS just to SHOW STEVE WHAT I THINK OF HIS ENVELOPE STUFFER!

AAAaarrrrrrrr! WWWWrrrrtghgGGHGHGHGH!

Yeah, I'm pretty hacked off too. I've been waiting (and saving) for a MBP since the release of the iMac's, but don't want to buy one until they are updated. I refuse to buy one until they are updated. I've waited this long, an extra few weeks (I hope) won't hurt....will it?

Grrrrrrrr to Apple
