That's not what I'm being told and the replacements will be certified, aka refurbs. No thanks.

Additionally, I have 9 of these paperweights. So it's not like I can just go casually down there with a box in hand.

Yeah that's why Im not updating til this is fixed..whenever apple says they will "Replace" the item, they dont mean with a new one, they mean with a certified one, AKA refurbished one..so screw that

Well I guarantee that if you call in right now to 1(800) 275-2273 and tell them that you're having this issue, you will be offered a brand new replacement device.

I can tell you I've done that and that wasn't what I was offered. They make no guarantee on what will be sent.

You're aware the OS update came out today, right? So it takes time for these resolutions to be sorted out. So yeah, you may have originally been told that it couldn't be replaced or something, but it absolutely will if you call back. You can be stubborn and angry about it all you want and argue with me about it, I know for a fact they will offer a replacement. Take it or leave it.

I'm not arguing. I'm telling you definitively what they will send from talking with senior agents and they are clearly aware of the problem now.

About to cancel my AirPods pros as this is rediculous. A smart speaker that's about as intelligently supported as a rock sadly. And that's what I have 9 of.... rocks.

Working with customer relations currently.

Whoever you've spoken with clearly doesn't know what the correct resolution is. Enjoy your rocks :)

Thanks, glad to see you taking delight in others misfortune.
I'm not taking any delight in it. I explained how to have the issue resolved in the best manner currently possible, but you're trying to tell me that I'm wrong. I know for a fact that I am not wrong.

I'm telling you I do not accept what is being offered as a unit that is rebuilt from the parts of defective units is never something that I would be interested in times 9. I gather some people are content in that solution.

I however have been down that path and it's problem laden unfortunately. I have high expectations in quality control and is why I bought these in the first place. But sadly that is moot now given they are rendered useless. It honestly appears as though apple is in damage control currently now and has found a new way too absorb stock of their piling up inventory on these speakers.

Pretty sure someone is going to get the blame for this mess up. And also why you always put a means of recovery on a device incase it needs to be serviced. Clearly, they didn't think this out.

That's not how this works :)

But you know better! So have a nice day!

And it may not work how I want it to. But I also won't be buying from them anymore either so cause and effect I suppose. Word of mouth does have buying power. And people love to hear good feed back these days just as much as what and why to avoid something. Proof will be in the pudding I suppose.

Updated both my HomePods to 13.2 with no problems. Definitely will avoid reseting them...not that I had any plans to do that anyway.

Can understand your anger, I would be too in your position. But if it helps you decide what to do, the most reliable laptop I've owned was a refurb MacBook Air. It was rock solid for nearly 7 years, before I sold it. There was zero cosmetic damage to it when new, apart from the packaging it was indistinguishable from new. All this is just to say, I wouldn't *personally* write off the idea of a refurb replacement if that's the only/easiest option. But I can equally understand you wanting brand new replacements, especially if they're not that old to begin with. Best of luck getting this sorted.

Sorry for those affected, but I’m glad I read this before I updated. Hopefully it’s resolved tomorrow or Wednesday. I have AirPods Pro arriving on Thursday.

I tried to reset my HomePod because I thought the Handoff to HomePod wasn't working, my iPhone 11 was updated to 13.2 prior to this. It just keeps spinning, disappears for a second, then comes back. Resetting on the top doesn't work, it turns red for a few seconds, disappears and then it's the white spinning circle again.

Thanks and good news for you. Sadly I've had 5 refurb phones and have gotten to the point that if I ever have to pick before refurb or selling it/trash can the latter wins. My multiple experiences have sadly just not been what yours are and is why I like to scrutinize my stuff when I get it to hopefully avoid this. Praying tomorrow someone smiles down upon my misfortune.

Same exact thing. It survived the update but I bricked it by resetting because handoff was t working. Apple is sending one and I’ll return this one.

I scheduled an appointment with Best Buy tomorrow since that's where I bought mine, and it's much closer than the Apple Store.

I called Apple and scheduled an express replacement. They’ll send me one then I return this one.

That's neat, I didn't buy Apple Care with my HomePod even after 60 days, so it's driving to the store for me! haha
