MBP 16inch was rumored to announce this month but base on previous special events, they always send out invitations at least one week before which means 23rd would be the last hope. Also, there wasnt any special events every 2 years since 2015.

It's kinda early to see new version of MBP but I wonder if Apple gonna announce it or not.

i dont know it seems like nobody knows and theres a bunch of fake news articles on if its coming out or not

i saw a article that said coming out on oct 31 and another that its been pushed to early 2020.

I think an event is unlikely, but the latest it would be announced would be today, for an event in one weeks time. Besides that, if just a press release, could come at any time.

I can do without a cringeworthy event where they have to craft some hyperbolic messaging about another "best keyboard ever" (this one hopefully might actually be that)...while avoiding public admissions/discussions about the Butterfly train wreck.

Just do a silent release of the MacBookPro SE with Scissor Keyboard and we'll all happily file over to Apple.com to purchase. No fanfare required at all.

60 minutes on stage to explain a couple iterative features? I doubt it.

We've already seen an image of the 16-inch model. There's nothing spectacular about it.

That's been my argument all along. They don't have an hours worth of new products to fill up.

16" MBP
AirPods Pro
Mac Pro more info?

Maybe a new slate of iPads but probably not until 2020

I'm just assuming a press release drops tomorrow for a Friday order, if I'm being honest.

Without new iPads to announce, no event is happening. While this MacBook Pro is definitely a big deal to those waiting for it, it isn't something Apple would hold an event for.

Yes,i think a press release is the way to go..I don’t think apple wants to be on stage to present the new keyboard after just 4 years..and has some kind of embarrassment moment

  • Judging by the icon leaked in the latest Catalina beta, 16" looks almost identical to 15", minus thinner bezels and Escape key.
  • New scissors key mechanism is more of a "fix" than a new feature. And Apple probably doesn't want to overly publicize this (although I am sure the press will be all over it).
  • 10th gen Intel processor isn't yet available. 16" MBP will likely recycle 15" MBP's 9th gen processor. That also rules out Wi-Fi 6 and USB 4.
  • 96W power adapter is not news worthy.
  • If $2999 starting price is correct, some combination of (1) $2,799 15" MBP underpinning becomes entry level for 16" (8-core 512GB SSD), (2) Face ID replaces Touch ID, (3) XDR display. My guess and hope is XDR.
None of these truly warrant an event.

1. Quite identical but different size.
2. Butterfly type was a worse choice that they need to change it asap cause they cant keep paying repairs for free.
3. Obviously since the first rumor.
4. 96W power adapter. It is newsworthy. Just a bigger screen but why does it require more power?
5. We dont know that since 16inch might gonna replace 15inch.

Tomorrow will be the last day if Apple wanna announce new products for this year. 10/31 is Halloween so 10/30 is the possible day for a special event like they did before. But if they dont send invitations tomorrow, then we probably need to wait till next WWDC. New MacBook Pro never showed up in March event so yeah.

If they do a press release, is there typically a certain day of the week, or have they been totally random in the past? And are products typically immediately available, or lag a few days?

Apple have quite specific months for special events. WWDC is always happening in June while iPhone announced in Sept. Both March and October might be random depends on what they have.

But we dont know anything about dates cause it's totally random but not months.

The availability totally depends.

That day is gone. Apple will never make an event on the same day with its annual conf call..all that we hope is for a press release this day/Thursday for an friday release or maybe next week

That doesnt even make sense. There is no record that Apple had a press release for a whole new device without an event and announcement. If they just gonna have a press release, then there wont be any new devices with totally different design and spec.

Friday probably the last day to do something for this month.

Last year, invites were sent out on a Friday prior to a Tuesday event...just 4 days notice.

This is just information based on prior year data

There is no new MBP16 this year - face it.
Apple will not launch it without an event - too important to show they are evolving /new generation of MBP is coming.
There are no leaks of new case, new LCD, new keyboard, new nothing (not counting 96W charger images) - if production is really ramping-up we would have seen it - it was always the case.
Reliable rumors sources like Kuo are dead silent about MPB16 for months..

I know a lot of people is hoping a miracle happens (me including) but the reality is we have to wait till the next year.

I would say you are VERY wrong.

Several sources have said the product has been in production.

The 16" MBP icon is already buried in a beta of Catalina.

I would say signs are far stronger FOR the release than against it.

Wait till after November 2nd to lay the arrogant "face it" on people.

I have never been an early adopter of new hardware, but my work MBP is only just hanging on. Still going on a mid-2012 non-retina model with a slightly dodgy graphics card. I get occasional specs on the screen, but with the machine placed just so I get no crashes from overheating...

I have had money for a new MBP for three years - yes, three years. And there is really no price issue. I just don't like the current tranche of design (2016-19). I am hoping for no Touch Bar (I use in clamshell mode 90% of the time or more in two locations) but it's looking like I will have no choice on that one. At least the keyboard will hopefully work...

I just am desperately hoping that it will be announced soon, I don't care how!

I think it is highly unlikely there will be a special event for the MacBook Pro 16. My guess is that it will just become available on the Apple website. You have to figure with the holiday season coming up that a releae is imminent. Also, many people are holding out for this new MacBook Pro so if it didn't get released soon the sales will be affected for the existing line up. More of a reason to get this released for holidays. I also think we might be surprised and see some spec upgrades like a memory bump to 2666. Heck this new MacBook Pro could have an Oled screen and maybe that is why they are using a larger adapter. This is all speculation at this point but don't expect an October event to announce the new Macbook Pro. It would be nice if Apple wasn't always a step behind the competiton.

I can’t see apple releasing a new category of product without an event.
