This is Nokias second time suing Apple
Nokia is coping Apple too
The N900 looks a lot like iPhones it has the same size in the screen.
And almost every company copied Apple.

If Apple never existed technology in handsets and computers would be years behind :apple::apple::apple::apple::apple::apple::apple:

O'rly?

The Nokia N900 was the evolution of the Nokia Internet Tablet.
Nokia N770 (Released back in 2005):

Nothing like the iPhone I agree.
Next up we had the N800 (Released January 2007):

Next we had the Nokia N810 (Announced 17th of October 2007)

Which leads us nicely on to the N900:

From the N800 onwards we have the same basic design so I don't know what made you come to the conclusion that the N900 is an iPhone clone, especially as the form factor for the NX00 series has been used since January 2007.

It would be nice for people to educate themselves before making wild assumptions on either side but, who am I to ask people to research and think objectively?
:apple::apple::apple::apple:4LIFE!! :cool::apple:

BTW, on your "And almost every company copied Apple" quip, this was announced and released before the iPhone. Who copied what exactly? ;)

Nokia had toutch screen phones even before 2005. 7700 was introduced in 2003 but was offered only in limited markets.

In 2004 Nokia introduced 7710:

So, saying Nokia is copying Apple is putting things bit backwards.

I'd recommend for certain people here to wake up from their Apple-o-mania dream. I sure give them a credit for the externals / packaging. For the price, I like those shiny iphones and metallic ipads myself, especially when they sit on my desk doing nothing. But lets admit, they are a good gadget makers (packaging company), that's about it. Also lets not forget that Apple has been stealing for ages. Jobs formula is to pickup anything interesting on the market, add a detail or two and try to patent. It is most certainly fair that they got, and will get in the future, into an unlimited number of infringement suits. Regarding Nokia's case here, maybe google it a bit to understand that Nokia almost single handily invented GSM technology for which every phone maker pays a royalty (besides Apple).

in a legal perspective it makes sense since the iPad 3G is just a big iPhone that cannot make phone calls. The same components that went into an iPhone are in the iPad so if Nokia is suing apple on the iPhone it makes sense to do the same on the iPad.

Western District of Wisconsin now that is interesting venue.

You buy Apple products to do nothing with them, there is so much you could do with them. if nothing else apple iphone are one of the coolest coaster around and what is more cool than ipad sushi plate, yes not only can you eat from it but you can have cool fish game swimming in the background. You will be the talk of the party.

Hey maybe that's how the iphone prototype was lost, it was been used as a coaster.

For me its time for Nokia to be bought out and to fade away.

I think it's a strategy that many corporations play - infringe for right or wrong, dominate the industry, then write a check for a few billion $ in compensation years later ... giants like MS have done this in the past; Apple still has a long way to go in the smartphone industry and this thing can really drag out.

Or dominate the industry with garbage sue anyone that brings out a real product people want to have. That more of Nokia business plan.

Wow, those phones look so cool.
What a revolutionary idea... icons on a screen!!!
Reminds me of a computer, sorta like what Apple was making... back in the 1980s.

[even the font in a few of those looks like 'Chicago' from the original Mac.]

Sue anyone? Who else are they suing?

There is plenty of competition they could sue under your whimsical business model but the only issue Nokia would have with your business model is that other manufacturers pay up. :(

Doesn't make them any better to look at!

They look like those children's toy phones.

I have to admit I do one thing with it, test the apps we develop for the app store. But your idea was totally brilliant about using ipad for the sushi plate, at list that is where it belongs really. Maybe Apple can patent that and get back at Nokia for cross patent licensing? Mark my words, there is nothing intellectual Apple has that Nokia wants (maybe only those white headphones and the usb charger plugs). Still if you kids think your mommy paid a few bucks and you got the "smartest" and "coolest" device on planet, you are simply ignorant (not to say stupid).

Regarding remarks of Nokia fading away. First, that would be a tragedy as 85% of the cphone market (if not more) relies on that company and it's innovations. Second, what would Apple steal in communications, if there is no Nokia's ideas and design. And last but not least, seems you have no clue that companies like Nokia move the technology forward and not the Apple with it's false advertisements, bitchy campaigns, and nicely designed (like iphone) executives. I understand that Jobs got bunch of us by the balls, but please.... Stop fooling yourself!

ps. you are a mac, and I am a homosapien. If you think there is something wrong with that, go look in the mirror.

This is just annoying
Nokia, just stop it!
Why isn't there a law forbidding companies except Apple Inc from suing other companies?

Because Apple isn't king of the world and if they're infringing on Nokia's patents, then Nokia has every right to sue the hell out of Apple

Or, if you are not a conspiracy theorist, Apple and Nokia disagree on what is fair and reasonable per the GSM standard licensing agreement, and they have asked a court to decide. Nobody is evil. Nobody is king.
