There's a few places I frequent that look like they should have the capability but don't and you've got places like Walmart or grocery stores that don't accept it.

Is this USA?

In Canada if you can pay with a debit or credit card you can pay with your phone (unless the transaction is over your accounts tap to pay limit)

Yeah, but it's five years old. Software support will end soon (iOS 18 surely being the last) and the chance of the electronics breaking just increases. Not to mention the wear on the battery for being used for half a decade.

I wouldn't buy an 11 anymore. If you want a $200 phone (and for it to be an iPhone), a 2022 SE is a far better pick.
Highly unlikely. The XS still gets support and Apple won't cull two generations in 1 go.

My last 3 iPhones including my 15 Pro Max last all day with 30% or so left at the end of the day. So no NOT hours.
Have u ever noticed all the comments from iPhone users about their “battery anxiety”? So many worry about battery not lasting a full day. YMMV!

No NFC would be the major deal breaker for me. But I'm also not the target demographic for this device. Nothing seems to have done something very special here, and the industry as a whole is better for it.

"The CMF Phone 1 is mainly for testing purposes. As there are some limitations with carriers in the US, we can’t guarantee full functionality and compatibility with cell carriers."

It doesn't support 5G on AT&T and basically doesn't work at all on Verizon. No article I've read today explains these facts which are clearly stated in the FAQs. This isn't a $199 phone. It's a $199 developer tool.

No, it's not. I keep looking and they all go around $400-500
That's one of the cheapest ones I found which is ~$450. The link that you posted me doesn't ship here. Nothing Phone is still $200. Makes it better purchase if you ask me + has 5G.

And its even more important today than it was 5 years ago.

The difference is it was true 5 years ago and false today. Even the Samsung A15 I got free from Total Wireless (if you insist on buying one I think they're about $200 fully unlocked) is on the latest version of Android and will get regular updates for years.

I honestly can barely tell between 60hz and 120hz so I dont care, plus I think people whine about it way too much but I do care that apple can charge 1k CAD for a device with only a 60hz screen.

60hz or 8gb ram on a 1000 CAD device should be cRiminal.
I wish I could not tell, but after using my phone and then using my wife’s 15 plus…it hurts my eyes.

You can’t tell difference between 60hz and 120hz? Dude do you live your life in 60hz by chance?

Can barely tell, ya. I have a 120hz 16" Macbook Pro and a 13" iPad Air. Barely even notice 🤷

I can’t tell the difference between iPhone 12 Pro Max’s 60Hz and Pixel 7 Pro’s and iPhone 13 Pro Max’s 120Hz screen.

But I am still mad for nearly iPhone cost 1K that doesn’t supply 120Hz display. This is clearly Apple’s greed.

Yep.

And don't expect a seamless and tight integration with your apps (Notes, Contacts, Photos, Messages, Weather, Stocks, Shazam, Calendar/Fantastical, Reminders, Stocks, Overcast, Maps, Dropbox, Kindle, etc, etc) on your other Apple devices (Mac, iPad, Watch, etc).

Google Keep, Google Photos, contacts added on Google account etc. are synced well with Google services.

First things I setup new iPhone is download all Google apps.

Used iPhone 11 is going around for $200-$300 depends on conditions.

I got iPhone 12 Pro Max for $380 after store discount and 3 months commitments on phone plan.

So you can go look for deals

Its cheap for a reason, don't expect long support or fast releases when it comes to security and bugfixes.
Nothing is a cool brand with nice gadgets, but the are always behind Samsung and Pixel when it comes updates.
For $200 this phone is affordable enough to actually replace every two years.

Why get upset about longevity. It’s not a $1200 iPhone.

But those specs sure make a $1200 iPhone look like a waste of money to a massive segment of people.

Mature products dont need massive design tweaks each update.
Some people still like the old MacAir design and would love the wedge back.

If rumours of the Homepod with screen stack up, a G4 hub with speaker and arm to mount/charge an iOS device would be both retro and future... ;)

Apple's material choices are as much brand as the shapes.
Calling a device mature is an easy way of saying stagnation.

I agree however I see more and more - but that assessment seems to follow age brackets. I am a senior and use transit and NFC but even in modern urban area shopping and transit where I live penetration in my age level is maybe 10%-20%? Students with up-to-date gear (phones) penetration might be 50% Mileage may vary where you live though.

It’s a great deal. But for most people already ingrained with Apple, they won’t let go their iPhone.

As for Android users, you might have good options from Google and Samsung. But at $200?

You know what would make me think about switching? If it was a SMALL device and I could use Android without Google.
$200 is worth me picking it up and testing it.
$200 is pocket lint.
If it has a fun experience and it holds up. $200 well spent.

Not at all. In 2025, the EU will force Apple to run Android Parallels on all their devices, so you will have the consumer choice you've always wanted but never had! ;)
Somehow, I don't spend any time worrying about what the EU is going to do next. They're a paper tiger, and they need us more than we need them.Way more.

The problem I have with Samsung is that the "cheaper" versions doesn't get updated as often as the more expensive ones. And sometimes the cheaper versions slide into an even worse "update scheme" making it hard for admins to manage devices if you have a mix between affordable and premium phones.
The A15 you got get quarterly updates while the S series get monthly.

I would say that Samsung is still a better choice than nothing since they are open with it and most of their models are "android enterprise recommended"

Don't know what it is, but I really like the design language of this budget phone. Reminds me of the Teenage Engineering gear. Have to agree though, no NFC is a bummer. Otherwise, decent specs.
Teenage's co-founder, Jesper Kouthoofd, is currently the head designer at Nothing. I think the companies even officially collaborated for the CMF line but can't source that.
