I am using my 5s, and don't have a case on it. I just love how the metal iPhone feels in my hand, and I will gladly take on the risks that comes with using a phone without any protection.

I got some time to play around with the iPhone 6 and 6+ yesterday, and I think I will likely go with the iphone6s model next year (if it is indeed still called that). It's still a more manageable size, and I should be able to use it comfortably without the need for a case (by gods, the feel of my finger sliding across the rounded glass edge is sublime!).

It's already been mentioned but I agree that the 6+ is pointless. The Galaxy Note is its own device - it has a big screen for writing notes on and comes with the tools to do so (S-pen).

The 6+ is lazy - it is just a big iphone

As a Galaxy Note 3 owner that had every iPhone up until the 5, I loved the idea of a larger display even as far back as the Dell Streak(mini 5). I almost pulled the trigger on a Dell Mini 5 until Apple released the iPhone 4 and made every other smartphone on the planet irrelevant. I'm still on the fence between a Note 4, Nexus 6, and the 6 plus. For the first time in a while, my next smartphone choice isn't as concrete as I thought it would be.

I'm a partial hypocrite. I didn't like the larger phones and was not planning to get one. My biggest gripe was that they would be difficult to use with one hand. Apple took care of those concerns by making the phone thinner and being able to drop the top half of the screen down (double tapping on the home button). Now I'm hooked. Good job Apple!

I actually admit to being a hypocrite, but let me explain myself.

I've always wanted to own an iPhone since its release in 2007, but I never wanted to spend the money to get one, so I eventually got an iPod touch 4G and then an iPod touch 5G and I used a regular cell phone besides it that didn't do anything except making calls and sending texts. Since I owned an iPod touch, I had to be on Wi-Fi most of the time since naturally it doesn't feature cellular data.

I knew that the end of the iPod touch would come soon so I decided to buy the next iPhone to come out, which turned out to be the iPhone 6. When I first saw the leaks I was disappointed that the screen/phone got bigger, I never wanted to have a huge phone, I hated huge phones so much because at the time I thought they were pointless, however, I was impressed with the design of the hardware, it seemed like a mixture of iPod touch 5G (that I loved so much) and the iPhone 2G. I ordered the iPhone 6 anyway because I don't do Android or Windows, so the only choice left was an iPhone. Also, I wanted to own the latest hardware possible so I can enjoy my iPhone as long as possible before being forced to upgrade, hence the purchase of the iPhone 6, not caring about screen size at all.

Before the arrival of my iPhone 6 I was worried about the screen a lot and when I unpacked it I was shocked about the actual size compared to the iPod touch 5G, nonetheless I got used to it very quickly and I can't imagine going back. When I use the iPod touch now, I can't believe how SMALL the device actually is.

I do believe 4.7" is the limit for me, personally. The iPhone 6 is, in fact, very big compared to previous models and I really couldn't imagine getting an even bigger screen (looking at you iPhone 6+), yikes. I still don't see the point of big phones, even of 4.7".

I'm in a love-hate relationship with my iPhone right now: I think the screen is amazing, there's so much space for content – but at the same time it makes using the phone one-handed a mess, even with Reachability. I really do hope that the minimal size of the iPhone will never get bigger than 4.7" and honestly, if there were a 4.0" option available I would have still gone for the 4.7" phone, even though I'm not really a fan of big screens.

Turns out I was the opposite. I was a huge proponent of a larger phone but the 6+ is just to big to comfortably use as a phone. One handed use is incredibly hard on a daily basis. My wife has one and it's just way to big for me. I bought the 6 and it's stretching the limit of what I can use comfortably. I use a Otterbox Symmetry case so that certainly adds some bulk but the whole package makes one handed usage much more difficult that with the 5. I like the screen size, if they can slim down the bezels a touch it would be about perfect. My wife loves her 6+ but I like one handed use and it's way to big for that.

I love my iPhone but I still think the Galaxy s5 is ideal size wise. I get apple wanted to make an impression by going so big but I phone the iphone 7 is the s5 size.

Way ahead of the game. Had a 4.5" GS2 on Sprint 3 years ago, GS4 last year, GS5 this year.

If anything Apple is catching up to me and my needs.

I've always wanted a 4.5-4.7" screen but not a 5.5" or 5.7" or a ridiculous 6" one

And thats still largely true even though i own a 6 Plus due to circumstances/curiosity.

Will be downsizing next year...maybe even later on this year. 5.2 is the highest i'll accommodate. 4.7" the sweet spot.

Oh man guilty here. I totally was like, that's crazy 4.5 inch phones. But low and behold I love my 4.7 6. I've tried htc one, Samsung G3, and htc m8. All I've returned. I just can't use the android system of doing things. Been an iOS user since the first gen iPhone. Anyway, I'm sold on the 4.7. 5.5 is too big for me and won't fit into my use case.

I sold my 5s I bought a LG G3 because I wanted a bigger screen. Now I have the 6+ I'm happy. I always try and watch what I say as someday I may find myself eating my words.

I made fun of a coworker with a note two years ago all the time about it being too big. I mocked her by holding an 8 1/2 x 11 notebook up to my face like I was talking to it. I am a hypocrite, and told her so after getting the 6+.

always wanted bigger phone, I talk less and consume more. And when I do talk, it's over bluetooth or earphones. This is why I jumped on the Galaxy Note 2 when it first came out two years ago. Now that Apple finally got the hint, yay i'm back.

I see that only a small number of people actually admit to being a hypocrite. I understand that most people would not want to admit it.

However, I see more people replied to this post as liking a bigger phone such as an iphone 6 or an iphone 6 plus. Liking a big phone is not being a hypocrite.

Being a hypocrite is actually making fun of people that use big phone or saying that he/she will never use a big phone, then turn around and order an iphone 6+ this year.

I said even the 6 was too big and after weeks of usage I still think it's too big. I bought the phone in spite of the screen size, not because of it.

I hope that Apple sees the bigger screen as something premium and continues to release 4" phones as a cheaper version. That would be just great for me, right size at the best price :)

If they stop with the 4" then I will buy the bigger one of course.
Apple is the last company to still make one handed phones with decent specs. So if Apple quits then there is no alternative but to jump on to the 6s /6+s(?)

I don't know if I'd consider myself a hypocrite. Rather my tastes have evolved. Yes, I give credit to Samsung (and others) for being on the bleeding edge and coming out with 5"+ phones when the iPhone was 3 1/2 inches. I don't think saying 2-3 years ago that I wasn't crazy about a big phone doesn't make me a hypocrite today.

Cell phones went from big clunky devices to small flip phones (like the moto razr in the mid 2000s) to big smartphones and blackberries to button-less touch screen smartphones with the original iPhone (that many panned because it was such a departure from the status quo) to the larger smartphones we have today. Is everyone that initially said "whoa" a hypocrite or would that be reserved for those that only said "I'll never own X" and now own X? If that's the definition then nope, I'm not a hypocrite. The idea of a larger phone and understanding the practical application of their use evolved.

I agree. As I've said before, changing your mind doesn't make you a hypocrite. I mean, I understand what the OP is getting at -- some people were probably too quick to dismiss large phones, perhaps as the kind of knee-jerk reaction that many people have, or perhaps as a means to convince themselves that they didn't really want something that Apple didn't offer. This kind of thing happens all the time. But now that we actually have the chance to use these phones ourselves, we can understand what the advantages are.

I admit I too have changed tune on the larger phones. It may have more to do with the fact I'm over 40 now and my eyes are starting to struggling with the smaller phones though. The 6+ still seems to be redonkulous IMO, but who knows, in 10 years I may be singing its praises too...

I think that if you change your mind after you have said something not in absolute terms then it would not be considered a hypocrite. However, if you said it in absolute terms, then I would consider it hypocrisy.

For example, if you said that you would "never" use a big screen phone over 5 inches and then later buy an iphone 6+, then that would be considered being a hypocrite.
But if you said that you "don't like big screen phone over 5 inches because it looks big and silly" and then later buy an iphone 6+, then that would be means that your opinion has "evolved".

+1.

Very true for me. Another contributing factor was owning an iPad mini and using that along with my iP5S sitting on my couch thinking "Wouldn't it be nice to have something bigger than my phone, smaller than the mini and still fit in my pocket..." Tastes evolve and needs change. For me, the 6+ is great.

More like the other way around. All these people complained the lack of size of the iPhone compared to larger androids to complain how the large the new iPhones are lol

I am certainly guilty of being hypocritical. I will admit that the first time I saw a Galaxy Note I was curious as to why anybody would need such a large screen but now that I've had the 6 Plus, I feel restricted any time I have an older iPhone in my hands. As our mobile habits have changed over time from being primarily phone/text activities to now social media/games/streaming, it only makes sense to have a larger screen.

Cough...ahem.. yeah I used to make fun of all the tools using bigass phones. Now I have a 6+ on order.

When I switched to a Galaxy s4 and HTC One M8 for a bigger screen, people I know would say "I don't need/care for a bigger screen. This (iPhone 5) size is perfect." or "I wouldn't want a bigger screen."

And as soon as Apple announced the bigger screen, they were so excited. I was excited too, which is why i have an iPhone again.
