Terrible examples. Your seats or couch you clean when get dirty. Plastic sheeting on them offers no protection; if you step wrong on the fabric it can still rip easily at the seams etc.

You cannot fix broken glass without replacing it, once its gone its gone. The case/screen protector isnt protecting a phone from getting dirty but trying to minimize shattering said front and back glass.
Ok, so I don't put a case around my windscreen. Happy now?

And even with a case and screen protector you still get breakage....You may avoid the 'dirt' from the micro scratches although a case is debatable as it suggests there is often enough actually more risk to damage when using one...

Just like me when I go to work, my phone will be nakit.

I used cases with the 6 series because they were damn slippery. But the Jet Black iPhone 7 had better grip and saw a return to me going caseless.

Not disagreeing but a thin case and thin screen protector for all of $20 is good insurance even if it helps prevent a 1% chance of damage.

I plan on doing something similar I did with my glossy Jet Black 7 Plus...

Anodized Aluminum and TPU Frame Bumper Case, Slick Wraps glossy clear skin, and glass screen protector.

That looks pretty terrible. Not to mention now much time it probably took to put all that crap on. As to why you would do this to an iPhone X, have no idea (can't even tell you have a Jet Black iPhone - looks like a cheap knockoff).

You do understand I’m using a case designed for my phone? Not just stocking Silly Putty around the edges?
Aha, so that is where I've been going wrong :p

Seriously, yes of course I assume that everyone will be using a case 'designed' for their phone...

I can't agree, if you care that little about what it looks like and the enjoyment you have from it for your own use to protect 1% it makes me wonder why you would get a phone like that in first place? May as well get an 8 or an SE...

So you you drive around in your car with plastic covers on the seats? Or the sofa's in your home have they still all got the plastic on them to protect them? Or the carpets etc

No, but then there is no comparison to make there, as that’s not even remotely the same, not unless I were carrying the sofa around a mud pool or sewage works, if I was I’d absolutely cover it as it’s an expensive item, only makes sense to. The only difference would be that the sofas looks would almost definitely be effected negatively, but that very much doesn’t have to be the case for a phone.

Product red silicone for me. There's something about the red and black combo that works for me.

If your buying a phone just because or mostly because of what it looks like then my comment about vanity definitely comes into play. I bought the iPhone X because it’s supposed to be the best iPhone available and I prefer iOS to other mobile platforms. It might be a good looking device apart from the notch, but I didn’t buy it for that, and again, a case doesn’t have to make it ugly, it may block the apple on the back but I don’t care if people know what I’m using.

Naked. I always go naked, exception of the current 7 plus which is quite slippery. I use Apple silicone case, but I don’t want it to X anymore.

In theory, I like my phone naked. At home, my phone doesn't usually have a case. Same at work. In my car, there aren't any soft-touch surfaces that I trust not to scratch my phone. So I usually have it in a case when I'm out and about, but at home and at work it's often naked.

I ordered a red Spigen Thin Fit case and another, thinner skin-like case to use at first. The thinnest one was designed to go with a white phone, and I ended up getting black so I'm not sure how that's going to look. I will probably end up getting one of Apple's dark purple leather cases.

Never said just because. Don’t know where you get that from.

But let’s be honest design is part of what we do. I wouldn’t go to saatchi and saatchi to get my commercial done to then finish it off in iMovie myself. Or why bark yourself when you have a dog.

Design is all around us. It affects the partners we choose and everything we buy.

Why not be honest and just say you think a case makes it look better ;)

I don’t care either way, just find the reasons and excuses people come up with quite funny. By all means if you want a case go for it. No need to explain it to me.

I love my Bellroy 3-card case on my iPhone 6 but they won't have their new wallet cases ready for a while so I just ordered this one from Amazon while I wait. http://a.co/c5barEL

I wonder when Utomic will make those edge protectors that just go on each corner of the phone. I bought them for my last iPhone 7 plus and loved how they worked and the minimalistic design.

Did you? I thought they looked kind of dumb but my mind is open this week. Might have to get busy soon though if my luck holds out!

Naked for a few days and then I’ll be purchasing the sylicone case. I tried the leather case last year with the 7+ and really Didn’t like it.

I bought a clear minimalist case, but I generally go naked. I bought a silver model for a reason and the less I can do to obstruct that, the better.

Ordered a Caudabe Veil. Originally was anti-case but the thing is so thin, striking, and fairly priced that I couldn't resist. They have a 20% off code too, if anyone's interested: IPHONETEN
Have they fixed the issue where th cases stretch? Last time I used them was for the 6s but it was annoying as heck to have the case stretch and the phone float around in there

Spigen Liquid Crystal or Caudabe Lucid Clear?

Can anyone recommend one over the other and reason(s) why?

Which one is thinner?

Left to right - caudabe lucid clear, spigen ultra hybrid, ringke fusion. Spigen is exactly the same size as the spigen liquid crystal, only difference is the liquid crystal is soft TPU all over, the hybrid has a hard plastic back. The caudabe is noticeably slimmer and the ringke is a little slimmer than the spigen.

From how shallow the caudabe is, I don’t know how much front lip it will have to protect the screen. I want to avoid a screen protector as most don’t go up to the edge

I usually hate clear cases, but I decided to take a chance on the Caudade, and from the looks of it, I think it will work. It isn’t super soft, but isn’t completely rigid. What I don’t want is a bunch of scratches on the stainless steel.

Really dude? I mean really? lol.

You don’t need an excuse to put a case on an expensive phone, you need an excuse for not putting one on. By all means don’t put a case on yours and risk it if you want, but don’t have a go at people who don’t want to risk it, I don’t put a case on mine because of wanting a Different look, I put one on because it’s the smart thing to do and don’t have money coming out of my ears, even though I’m very careful.

Which one would ya recommend for Non-Slippage-Prevention for the hands?...I know none will be a guarantee against Cracking/Breaking of the Glass. I'm after one that won't feel like I'm holding a Lubricated Heavy Metal Rod!

I went naked with my Jet Black 7+ and it looks like it’s neen through a war zone. I ordered a couple of cheapos and a Peel case this time around. We’ll see what happens.

Any would be fine. I like the soft feel of TPU but the polycarbonate caudabe would be grippy too. I would guess that the TPU cases would give more shock protection and isolation from impact vs a fully hard case?
