Pretty much right in line with what I was thinking it would cost.

42mm SS with leather classic for me
38mm SS with milanase loop for the wife

Did not want the link band so I wasn't really thinking about it much but I am shocked at the price of that.

Imagine the 10k watch in 5 year. The entry level watch released 3 years from now will be more advanced than a 3 years old 10k watch.

When the first iPhone was released the pricing was unsubsidized.

Don't expect the Apple watch prices to fall anytime soon. Apple will sell a ton of these.

Don't forget, when the iPhone was first released, even subsidized with a 2 year contract, the 4gb iPhone cost $499 and the 8gb iPhone cost $599. HIGHLY overpriced, and 3 months later they lowered the prices by $200 each. These watches are HIGHLY overpriced for a gadget. They will not sell a ton of these at the current pricepoints. History will repeat itself.

The iPhone apple store app has an actual size comparison. I've spent the last few minutes holding it up to my wrist then comparing it to my watch. Thankfully nobody saw this sad display :) Looks like I may go for the 42.

well i am officially out ... my last hope was a sports edition watch and leather band but the leather band isnt available for the 38 mm watch. BS

The entry level watch is currently just as advanced as the 10K one, so assuming there is a yearly update cycle the entry level watch will be more advanced than the 10K one next year.

Sport, but I was going to get that one anyways regardless of the others pricings.

And it's made my Omega and won't be obsolete in a year.

Fair point, I'm expecting it to last at least 2 since a lot of the heavy processing is left to the phone. I could be wrong on that though. That's the one bad thing, it's yet another device I'm going to want to upgrade every year.

I have a quartz Omega Seamaster that cost a lot more and all it does is tell me the time.

If you're willing to sell me your Seamaster for $349, I will give you my home address and send you $349 through Paypal. The Omega is 1000% the watch the Apple Watch is. realistically, the Apple watch is just a lazy (rich) man's/ (rich) women's gadget. You can do everything and then some on your phone and still have a nice Omega on your wrist.

Still going to pass. Even $350 seems like a ridiculous amount to pay for a glorified second screen for notifications with some fitness sensors attached.

:) Ironically it's the one watch I'll never part with, I wanted one for years before I finally got one. I also had one of the original Michael Schumacher Speedmaster's and parted ways with it because I didn't wear it much. I later regretted it.

You can get a modern buckle in leather.

Going to get sports with black band

Just not sure if I should get silver or space grey?

Whats the majority getting?

More so than an running watch with no fitness sensors attached or included like the Garmin 620, which is all plastic and also sells for $350?

Big question for me....how scratch resistant is the Sport Model Vs the SS.

Also are they exactly the same spec wise? I assume they are since they all have the S1 chip, no mention of storage. I could save $200 dollars if i just get the Sport but will I regret it when it gets a scratch?

I'm still going to wait a while, take in the real world product tests and see how it evolves when full apps arrive in the Autumn.

If I do get one it will probably be the 42mm Sport in black but I would need to see and try them on before deciding.

Real watches are much better than smart watches to actual people who LOVE watches. Are smart watches cool, hell yeah, I have a Moto 360, I love it, but do I love it more than my real watches, probably not. It's a cool gadget. People who love REAL watches, appreciate the quality and crafsmanship, the build, the beauty of those watches. Non watch people will never understand that.

I refuse to buy one till apple offers a metal bracelet for the edition!!!!!!!!

I think the SS Apple Watch price is just ridiculous. 650 euros for the basic model, almost the same as an iPhone 6.

Honestly I find it harder to spend 650 euros on a smartwatch with a lifetime of probably 5 years than on a analog watch with a much bigger lifetime.

I don't know if I will buy one, but if I do, it will be the Sport Edition for sure. But I don't plan to abandon my beautiful and classy Tissot.

it probably won't work anymore after 5yrs. the battery will have died and won't charge anymore and id bet money its not replaceable

I was looking forward to the 42mm SS, but at $879 AU I no longer intend to purchase an Apple Watch at all. Here's hoping for a price drop...
