These prices will go down for gen 2. They will have to.

Until today's drop on the price of the ATV, I'd have said that is very doubtful. Apple rarely drops their prices. But there's also the new color e-paper display Pebble coming out in June and July. I just can't see paying this price for a watch with a one day battery charge.

Honest question/idea: I want the SS Space Black 42mm, but don't want the SS Space Black Link Bracelet. So I'm thinking I'll buy the watch and sell the band. Looks like Apple doesn't sell the Space Black Link band separate, so do you think I'll be able to sell it off at retail asking price ($449)? I want the SS Space Black Apple Watch 42mm, and then buy the Black (not previously announced) Leather Loop. Thoughts?

it probably won't work anymore after 5yrs. the battery will have died and won't charge anymore and id bet money its not replaceable

The Edition comes with a 2 year warranty, extendable for a 3rd year. The others come with a 1 year warranty, extendable to 2 years.

and after that you're outta luck when it decides not to charge anymore

The milanese loop is only $149 by itself. It is $649/$699 to buy with milanese loop.

So for $50 less you get the SS Watch 42mm with Milanese look? I can afford that. I was afraid it was going to be the $1000+ option :p

Yep. I'm with you on this. I cannot justify it.

You think that until you've had one (owned a pebble for a long time) and then it stops working and you go 'oh crap, I use that a lot' and that doesnt even do replys!

I doubt it. You can still get a replacement battery for an iPhone 3GS if you take it in.

i don't see any screws anywhere to take it apart.

apple doesn't replace batteries on iPods, or iPads either.

It distresses me that I won't be able to buy the SS Space Black with a black sport band. At least, it seems like that now. I have no interest in the black link bracelet, and would love a SS Black with a black sport band.

They could be on the inside where the hinge is. Or perhaps, like in most watches, the circular part in the back pops off with a special tool.

Would be cool. Just wonder if there will be a market for selling off the SS Space Black Link bands. It won't really match any other watch.

Wish I could just buy SS Space Black 42mm with Black Leather loop and be done.

I'm buying the 42 mm Space Gray Sport.

Perfect match for my Space Gray iPhone 6 and the Incipio DualPro Black/Gray case.

Interesting that the space black is the highest priced SS one and no option to buy with a sport band (I wasn't interested in space black myself but I know some people were)

i wanted the space black with that specific band.... before today that is.... no way am i paying a thousand bucks for a watch that will be obsolete in two years....

i'm just going to get the gray sport with black band..... it's better looking than any of those wrist-worn sport trackers...

In 2 years, just buy the new Watch body for $499 (I'm guessing) and use it with the link band. I think that Apple won't change the hinge mechanism anytime soon.

I was pleasantly surprised by the link band pricing. Price out a Movado or Tissot with a link band and then compare it with the $1049 pricing of the 38mm.

so wait, I could get the space grey 42mm Sport... could I then drop $150 on the milense band?

I don't think you'll have to worry much about scratching. But having said that, I'll also bet that there will shortly be people offering skins for them. That is what happened with the Pebble watches. I had hardly received my Kickstarter edition Pebble than there were several dealers offering skins to protect them.

I'm considering a Sport 42 mm with the Milanese strap.

Will be a space grey Sport model with black sport band.

Personally I think it is the nicest one there and also the cheapest which is a bonus for me!

The Space Black Apple Watch is my next favourite but I would not be paying £900 for an Apple Watch
