If people bothered to read threads before they post, everyone would know that yes, it is approximately Cupertino lunchtime that the invites are sent out.

If there is no event, don't worry too much, apple often update/upgrade without an event.

I'm not trying to be mean, but come on guys. The information is there. And just one or two pages before your posts, to boot! Let's be friends now. :D

Don't worry, in March I'll move to Worcester, so I can come to Boston and we can shake our hands.

Fingerprint reader?

You know how people who really want to break into your laptop get round that?
They cut your fingers off.
Let's not.

See this is what I love about the mac following - Everyone on here seems so hyped up over an expected release of new mac's.
I think some people here are getting too impatient - the 14th will be here in 7 days, and all will be revealed then (hopefully).

Kev.

:mad::mad::mad::mad: If Apple doesn't release new notebooks next week I am going to fly to Cupertino and slap them all in the face. And then I'll cry.

I get this very strong feeling, that if Apple is not releasing something today or tomorrow we will not see any new products next week.

They have their quarterly earnings conference call on the 21st. Any silent release a week before this could potentially be seen as 'influencing the market'. So it is either this week or another 3 weeks wait: new MBs on October 28 anybody?

I think the update will happen this month, but maybe not next week-we'll see.

I have a strong hunch that the MacBook will be anodized aluminium and still come in either black or white, even with the new styling. Whether this will just be on the outside I'm not sure, but the iPhone 3G being white, and instances of the white on the iMac-I don't think Apple is done with its white fetish.

And besides, isn't one of the big thing about MacBooks the fact that they stand out, like a statement? A greater uniformity in the lines towards one common look just isn't like modern Apple. Anyone want to take my bet?

So what...? Any product announcement could potentiall "influence" the market. There is nothing illegal or strange in that. The could just as well make an announcement on the 21th. Or a day earlier. Or any day whatsoever...

If the same macs we see on the store now are the same ones apple are pimping in december steve should resign:cool:

Oh... this does seem like modern Apple to me.

All of their current computer models share more or less the same aluminum look. The MacBook being the sole exception. Even the previously white (plastic) iMac is now aluminum-clad. The MacBook would only be the last remaining model to follow suit. Perfectly reasonable. The case of the iPhone (which, mind you, also featured a metal back in its first incarnation) could maybe be attributed to improving wireless reception.
