Thanks - kinda. But I wasn't sure if that was the case, as I thought I remembered the September invites being sent out at 9.

Oh... this does seem like modern Apple to me.

All of their current computer models share more or less the same aluminum look. The MacBook being the sole exception. Even the previously white (plastic) iMac is now aluminum-clad. The MacBook would only be the last remaining model to follow suit. Perfectly reasonable. The case of the iPhone (which, mind you, also featured a metal back in its first incarnation) could maybe be attributed to improving wireless reception.

That's true, but I disagree with the theory that everything will be unified to look like one line. I still think they will maintain differences, particularly with their consumer line. My point was that with the MacBook i still think there will be more than one option-maybe not a black and white option, but black or silver maybe-Apple like to make their consumer lines as accessible as possible and by providing two colours they can do that- look at the MacBook vs. Blackbook, iPod classics, iPod nanos etc.

And I think that Apple has maybe decided to revert back towards white as a primary brand colour- the iPod 3G could have had just black backs, but they pulled out a white option, just like most of their accesories remain white, because that is the colour Apple is known for like Coke is red.

hopefully not all metal...

I have a strong hunch that the MacBook will be anodized aluminium and still come in either black or white, even with the new styling.

Hopefully, Apple will innovate like Dell and build a better wireless solution - enclosing the antennae in metal has been shown to be an unfortunate design.

Note that the Dell Latitude below has a design line near the top of the screen, a little detail to break up the flat slab of the top. It's not just for style, though. That piece, which matches the rest of the lid, is actually a plastic window for the 3G/WiFi/BT antennae - so that it gets great reception in a metal 'book.

The older D series had a similar window:

Come to think of it, isn't it about time for Apple to offer builtin 3G radios?

Putting that information in your first post--thereby rendering it different from the hundred other posts asking the same question--probably would have prevented people from jumping down your throat, you know?

I just checked on PCworld.co.uk and they have most of their Macbooks available. However, it looks like they are all collection only in store.

Yes indeed. And hopefully they can just put both EVDO(3.5G) and 3G antennae in there so we can have a choice.

I don't have as many wireless issues my Penryn MBP as I did with my Powerbooks. Isn't that why they added the rubber lining on the hinge?

WTF! Put those away! There are women and children present!

Ok so let's see some predicted specs for the MBs and MBPs in the usual Apple format:

Screen size
CPU
Base RAM
Base HDD
Optical Drive

Try and be specific about type of RAM, video card, HDD rpm etc.

I thought I'd chime in with some additional Ingram information.

Just got off the phone with my friend, they are still receiving Apple laptops by the trailer full, skids of them. 3 kinds, airs, MBP and some kind of MB, according to him.

They are not being released yet, they are being sorted and prepared but as of today, 11AM EST, they have not received word to let them go to the stores.

No laptops are going out so in my opinion these are not the current iteration of Apple's laptops.

Not trying to stir the pot, just sharing the limited information I know.

If I hear that they're moving out I will post.

Take care.

How does INGRAM relate with Apple? Is it a store? A distributor?

Thanks a ton for posting that! Any specs posted on the boxes?
