I still see no reason to think no invites definitely = no MB on the 14th. Ipod changes always get more pub. because more people have ipods. Apple has cornered that market so well, that everyone looks for new ipods. Not to mention ipods are a lot cheaper and therefore available to more people. An ipod is a possible Christmas present, but a $1500 computer? I don't know about everybody else, but I've never received any $1500 Christmas present. Most people (ie. those not on these boards) aren't sitting and waiting on every Steve Jobbs scrap pertaining to computers. The whole Brick rumor is still not a sure thing and most people could care less how their computer is manufactured anyway. So no big announcement there. Other than that, realistically, what do we expect from these new MBs? Maybe dedicated graphics card, but more likely just a better integrated one. Again, most people would never know the difference. Maybe an LED display, maybe a touchpad with some more multi-touch features, maybe a decrease in size? In all likelyhood, there isn't going to be a major advancement, like all the speculation about the Brick. The whole glass trackpad thing is probably not happening either. We'll see increases in typical specs. To the average consumer, the biggest difference is going to be an aluminum case instead of the plastic one on the current MB. I just think people got too many crazy ideas in their heads about what this new MB would be. It's still going to be a notebook computer, and for that, I really don't think Apple would necessarily hold an announcement event. It would be disappointing.

If they wait until macworld, they are sure screwing themselves over for Christmas. Who wants to buy an outdated product?

imo, they already screwed themselves... they already missed the back to school period.

tons of kids every year in september buy notebooks left and right.

maybe they delayed the announcement to push older inventory onto students, who knows.

This is no more helpful or solid than any of the speculation here. Much to my chagrin. :(

I know but I was just trying to get my point across that even though there are no event it doesn't mean they are coming. People don't get that and think if there are no invites there will be no macbooks. Not the case at all.:D

I'm not sure which photo you mean. There was a photo of an nVidia chipset with 'nVidia' written on it in one of the linked articles, but that was the chipset, not a dedicated graphics chip.

A Chipset no... this is called integrated graphics.... it's still the chip you would find on a dedicated card.. but to save space in a laptop, they move that chip to your mainboard or motherboard, and have it use a partition of your RAM as graphics memory, instead of having its own memory on a dedicated graphics card.

they will still be TONS better than the silly little intel chips on the current macbooks.

Sounds plausible but do you think these radical new MacBooks just "silently" appear on October 14th then?
Then what is the main event of October 14th? Tablet?

For new things like the Tablet I think they do that at macworld or hold special events for them. Like the Air the Air is an entire new branch of the macbook that's why they held an event. Do not expect just to see a 13.3" Air for ever their going to make the "Air" the ultraportable line. That's what I think anyways.

MacBooks will come without an event

Aluminum iMacs were also introduced without event. They arrange events only if they have something more to show than new design and specs. Like new services, software etc. It doesn't make sense to invite the audience for only showing one product.

Well I'm with you there on the "no reason to give up hope yet" train, but that idea has already been stated here. Plus, linking to your own blog about it is a little misleading. I still love ya, though! <noogie> ;)

I edited my post so there won't be any problems

edit:Sorry about the blog thing I am just so sick of the

When is there going to be an event
Where are the invites coming
What time are the invites sent

and blah blah blah

I swear, iPods and iphones are all Apple concentrate on nowadays. Give the Mac some Love!

Unless they show a Tablet, new MacBook Pro and new MacBook at the event.
I doubt it though.

The MacBooks and maybe MacBook Pros would just appear "silently" on October 14th then.

Soooooooooo with you on that one, my friend, as I'm sure everyone here knows. Thanks for clearing things up a bit. :)

I'm not giving up hope for next week. As it has been mentioned, there has never been a macbook event so it is possible it will just be put in the Apple store.

<3.

Seconded. I always zoom past posts like that, regardless of the fact that I might miss important information (I just assume that someone will sum up anything of consequence in a response, and I can read the nutshelled version that way).

Line breaks are our friends! :D
