PC gaming isn’t really in the best place right now. My favorite game of recent times performs so bad on my 4090 13900k setup - Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. It’s a stuttering mess. I get a smoother experience on the PS5 Pro. You think my hardware would blow away aPS5 Pro. And it isn’t just this one game. A lot of recent games perform horrible.

Upscaling and frame generation has ruined everything now.

I fear gaming on the mac just will not be great. I'm surprised they get some big name ports like Resident Evil and Death Stranding. They run well, but IMO if you want the best gaming, PC is the way to go (or steam OS).

I came SUPER close to ordering an HP omen system last night because of a coupon, but it expired. But now that I look at it, a 320 watt gpu and an intel CPU that runs at 120-250w, man that would have been one hot system. I'm just tired of it the heat and power. Plus 5090s are starting to melt 3rd party connectors again. I don't feel like PC gaming is in a great place, and thus, nVidia hardware I want for work is not either
Hopefully HP Omen are made available in u.k. inc’ 50 Series gpu.
Could be perfect replacement for returned 13700k 4070ti.
OMEN HP 45L Gaming Desktop GT22-3000t PC. from .com site has 285k/265k/5090/5080 versions.
I’ll re check over next few months.

I think I'm gonna just wait to see if things settle down. My PC still works and my 3080 TI is using three 8-pin connectors, not the 12 pin which is still a mess

I’m not a fan of social hype/drama. However, the continued (actual) investigations are enlightening.

More and more evidence is confirming the connector is designated and being implemented with far too small (safety) margins. In other words, even a small carelessness/oversight by the manufacturer and/or user equates to a highly probable failure.

I knew from the get go, when the 4000 series was released that this new connecter was trouble. More power delivery over smaller gauge wire and smaller pins; yeah this can't go wrong.

If I end of getting a 5070Ti, I will make damn sure it does not have this nonsense connector for power.

As far as I can tell only the 5060 (series and slower) will come with 8-pin connectors. All the higher tier cards come with 12V2x6.

I have a 4070 12GB with 8pin connector.
I was planning to upgrade to 5070, but since they haven't increased the VRAM, there is no reason for me to upgrade and I don't want to be forced to go up another tier.
My previous cards before this were 1060 6GB, 3060 12GB. Current games already require more VRAM, another 12GB doesn't cut it, the minimum for a xx70 card should be 16GB.
With 4070 at least I received a copy of Diablo IV, which I'm still playing.

I think that may only be true for the founder edition cards; I hope.
Looks like 5070ti MSRP is going to be hopium.

That pin at 10:10... whew.

I’ve decided to forget about 50 series.

P.S. if only 4090s would be available at a fair price.

How many here figure there will be a class suit filed due to the obvious engineering snafu on the power delivery circuitry?

Whoever thought electricity would magically split perfectly 4-ways using a bus bar design is crazy.

If mobile Ryzen 395 "Strix Halo" RDNA 3.5 native RT without FSR is this good then hopefully 9070XT RDNA 4 is around 3x faster and with FSR4 hopefully 4K near 60fps.

Newegg Shuffle for a chance to buy a 80/90 series.

I decided to throw my name in the bucket for a 5090 TUF OC. Afterward, I thought, “Why?” Has my attitude changed? Am I really willing to pay nearly $3k for a GPU? The answer still seemed to be: no. So, I felt mostly glad when I wasn’t selected.

According to Google, RDNA4 on TSMC N4 is better than Blackwell on TSMC 4N. Wonder if it's enough for RDNA4 to take the efficiency crown from 5080, 5070ti or 4080 Super.

"TSMC N4" is considered slightly better than "TSMC 4N" as "N4" represents a more refined version of the 4nm process, offering improved performance and power efficiency compared to the standard "4N" designation; essentially, "N4" is an enhanced iteration of the 4nm technology, making it the preferred choice between the two.

I happened to notice some 5080s and a single 5090, ASUS TUF models, briefly available at my nearest Micro Center — most of us know “nearest” is used loosely. With that tiny bit of intrigued excitement, my thought soon reverted back to:
Am I really willing to pay nearly $3k for a GPU?
Seriously?! The RTX 5090 TUF OC MSRP is (now) $2,500, listed $2,529 at MC. With local taxes, the final cost slides to ~$2,735. By the way, the 5080 TUF OC is listed at more than half, $1,485 ($1,350 MSRP), putting it at a total expense of ~$1,605. Even with the “Because I can” PC enthusiast side wanting to try different configs in pursuit of optimal performance and relevant efficiency, the value of these GPUs looks so horrifying to me. I can’t even seem to twist the figures enough to justify the purchase.

I guess, I’m wondering, if/when supply/availability isn’t a problem, how much are these really going to sell?

P.S. For me, the pandemic-like QC compromises allowing for missing ROPs is far more concerning and appalling than the possible cable melting.
P.P.S. As with Apple, I don’t care why they chose (to raise) the prices. I’m simply calculating the value based on the cost I would be paying.

I see that the 5080 has ROP issues as well. Which is wild cause that is a full die.
