Thats not very helpful as no one can make up their mind before they see if it is sent out and that probably won't happen before tommorrow afternoon which is less than 24 hours till 8/9am on Friday!

It's a shambles isn't it? I've just spoken to someone else and she claims that they've been told that ALL people who successfully managed to order before the 2pm 'out of stock' announcement WILL get their iPhones on Friday. So if I get confirmation then I WILL get it on Friday, negating the need to queue up at a store.

I'm not holding my breath though.

PS. Seeing as it's you, spinstorm, I will also share my anxiety that when I eventually do get one, it'll have negative blacks and/or dead pixels. The stress is all too much really... :)

So i just called o2 and the lady on the phone said that i was guaranteed to have one delivered on friday as they will have new stock in time.

they have started sending out dispatch emails now. I think definitely if you have an order number you are on a winner.

Woohoo - my iphone order just showed up in MyO2. I managed to get the failover form to submit at around 2.30pm yesterday. T

he order shows up as submitted on the 9th but I guess that is because they are doing them by hand. Still says 'in progress' and no money has been taken but I am not really overly bothered if I get it on Friday I am quite enjoying using my old samsung with it's lack of proper internet!

EDIT: I am an existing iphone customer I have just sold my original on ebay.

Well, no email and nothing on MyO2 despite getting a "successful" failover order at about 9am on Monday. Guess my details just didn't get through somewhere. Can't be bothered to queue up on Friday, if I pass an O2 with stock I'll nip in, otherwise I'll leave it until they're easier to get. This hasn't ruined my life, but it does leave a nasty taste in my mouth...

Yeah I didn't get anything either, I'll just dander into town if I get up early enough. Poo to you o2.

I've literally *just* had an email about my failover order saying it had gone through. Had two emails, it's popped into 'my o2' order status, and currently says 'in progress'. Seriously thought my order wouldn't go through.

It was for a 16gb one as well, with insurance (as I have now).

Called 202 from my phone and spoke to the upgrades dept, she said if we've had order numbers then we've been allocated stock and will have them on Friday.

Hurrah!

Still nothing.

I can't wangle a late start on Friday, so can't go to an o2 store to buy one either. Looks like I'll be waiting a few weeks then.

This time tomorrow if your status hasn't changed then friday isn't looking good.

Keep faith guys.

Those are probably the Rogers phones :D

UPDATE I just checked and I have an order number. The status is marked as "In Progress". Has anyone confirmed that this means I will receive my phone on Friday? It's an 8GB model.

Well, after all my moaning I now have a confirmed order too, following a successful 'failover' message on Monday at 1.40pm.

Clearly they're not doing them in chronological order so there may yet be hope for those who are still waiting for news.

Still, I'm not quite there yet - the berks at O2, or rather their stupid address entry system which only allows one line per address, have left a vital line out of my address. This means that some guy 800 yards up the road might be getting a unexpected, shiny new present on Friday, unless they can get get notification of a change of address done on the package.

My use of calm language and lower case letters belies what's really going on in my head at this moment. <twitch>

I just got an e-mail following an order placed (well, many orders really) on the failover page. It just says in progress. I had given up hope, and figured out the store I was going to go to. I phoned O2, and they say we should get another e-mail later today or tomorrow, if the delivery will be made. I need to cancel if it won't arrive on friday, as I am off to the store. I hope this order now doesn't hinder that.

After calling the o2 upgrades department THREE TIMES since my order appeared a couple of hours ago - I've had it confirmed on each occasion that because I have an order number and it's 'in progress' I will definitely have the iPhone I ordered on Friday.

It was also mentioned that there were some orders from the failover process that they were hoping to finish today but didn't, and these will be completed in the morning, so if yours hasn't appeared yet you'll probably get an email before lunch tomorrow.

Just got my emails from o2 - placed the order on the failover page at about 2.30pm - though it is a bit of a blur to be honest. 8GB, existing iPhone customer. Details showing up on my o2 page, but showing as in progress. Have decided not to bother going to the o2 shop and if my iPhone 3G is delayed will just play with the new apps on the 2G machine until it does arrive.

Are you upgrading? Or a new customer? Did they definitely say that the phone would be with you on Friday? Is your order still 'in progress'?

I'm an upgrade customer. They said I would definitely have it on Friday, and it's still in progress.

Take that all with a pinch of salt, but they told me flat out YES on 3 different occasions with 3 different people.

I only got a order confirmation e-mail this morning after using the failover form.

And at about 5pm I got a completion e-mail and tracking number from o2.

I entered it in the "indent" section on DHL's site and it says

Shipment Data Received 09/07/08 LEEDS SERVICE CENTRE

It is down as next day delivery according to O2 but I doubt it will actually be with us tommorrow - Friday will have to do.

Having said that the lady I spoke to at o2 on the phone said they could arrive tommorrow or Friday! But I doubt it - if you wake up in the morning and it says out for delivery then we will be very lucky!

order received

Just got my order confirmation thorugh - 16gb upgrade. I really hope it comes Friday, let's hope O2 redeem themselves and manage to make good on delivery.

could you detail your order number and at what time did you place the order?

Thanks for the response. I am in exactly the same boat. I was told a definitive 'yes' though, so I hope this is true. When i phoned all I was told is that we would receive another e-mail later today, or more likely tomorrow.

Got my order number for a 16GB black this morning at 8:22 after ordering through the failover page at 2 something on monday. Received the first 2 emails and not the third (i.e. dispatched), do you recon they would have contacted me if i entered my debit card details incorrectly? (I'm paranoid!). ;)
