Ok i just called cancellations and they've now moved me from the regular simplicity to the iPhone one. It will take place on my next billing date (30th Dec). It seems only cancellations are aware of its existence as all other departments were clueless when asked

So i get 200 more texts
Free WiFi
Visual Voicemail

all for the same price...not bad.

Hang on a cotton picking minute...

600 minutes, 700 texts, Free WiFi, V. Voicemail and data usage... for £20?! what the hell?! This is going to be a massive money saver for me!

Order online or over the phone and they will double the texts for the same price!!!

Can you answer my question on the previous page?

Its actually 1200 texts...

Did you have an official iPhone o2 tariff before? I cannot get visual voicemail to work! My phone was purchased on PAYG but now on iPhone Simplicity 30.

Anyone else got VV to work but never had an official iPhone o2 tariff?

Thanks

I was never on the iPhone tariff (i change phones too frequently to be locked down). You cannot get Visual Voicemail on PAYG/Regular Simplicity Tariffs. Only the normal iPhone tariffs and now the iPhone-specific Simplicity Tariffs are VV enabled

yes I understand that. I am now on a specific iPhone simplicity tariff but my visual voicemail does not work. That's why I asked if you had a pay monthly tariff for the iPhone before as that may have suggested that it's the only way to have vv on this new iPhone simplicity :(

I've tried everything, just keeps dialing 901

I would get in touch with O2 to see if its been activated on their end (which it needs to be) and then switch off/on the phone. If that doesnt work reset your network settings or erase all settings (not content and settings) and as a last resort restore the phone.

looked for this on the o2 site, but couldn't find it. Did find the offer for home broadband and 3GB tethering for a tenner. that sounds good. Or it would if I got a decent 3G signal at work...

It's not on the O2 web site yet. The tariff has only been available for a couple of days and most of O2's staff aren't even aware of it. It will probably get more publicity in the next few weeks as the contracts are due to expire for those who bought the 3G when it was first released.

They needed to do this - I've just officially unlocked and gone Vodafone SIM-Only. £20/month buys me 600 minutes, unlimited texts and unlimited data. It also gives me something money can't buy: SOME FRICKIN' SIGNAL!

The special iPhone Simplicity tariff will be a retentions tool. You're most likely to be offered it if you call up and threaten to leave. Getting switched to it otherwise might be tricky.

This is exactly what I'm hoping to do. :) How long did it take for o2 to unlock your phone after you filled out the form thing. Thanks

so whats better?
saving £100 off normal simplicty via quidco,
or trying to get on the official iphone simplicity?

i have a pay go just activated today.
gonna switch on the internet tmrw.
so will be logging onto web and wi fi feature using the pay go sim.
hopefully this web and wi fi bolt stays on, even when i put a simplicity sim in my iphone.

12 month SIMS are fine, you can put it into any future 02 handset.

hahaha thats even better!

Looks I know what I'm doing on the 16th December.. calling up and asking to switch to that bad boy :D

Yup...its pretty much the best bang for buck tariff in the UK now (IMHO) if you have O2 coverage. Plus you get free customer service, free roaming discounts (ITS its called think...granted this is moot since they're unlocking phones now) & access to discounted O2 LLU broadband, which is very good broadband if you're in a covered area.

300 Mins
Unlimited Texts
Unlimited 3 to 3 calls
Unlimited Internet
£15 less discount..... that will do me!

)

Good evening to you all.

I purchased the 16gb iphone in October 08. I didn't want to be tied to an 18 or 24 month contract so bought the phone outright. Took cash into store , 10 mins later came out with nice shiny phone on the £20 Simplicity tariff. At the time this was something like 600 mins & 600 texts & I took the free web bolt on with it.

Within a few months I noticed that online you could double your texts to 1200. I phoned o2 up & said that I see this is now better on the web & I would therefore like to trans to it , gaining the extra texts. I was informed that as I purchased the phone from an o2 store , to take up the online offer I still had to go back in store. I informed them that unless he could do it for me now over the phone I would cancel. I got put through to retentions 7 mentioned to the lady I wanted to give 30 days notice. She asked why , I told her & straight away she upgraded me.

About 2 months ago I added the £7 unlimited wifi to my account , thus paying £27 per month.

Anyway , about 2 weeks ago I received my text from o2 saying my phone was now unlocked. Tested by sticking in my works vodafone sim & it worked with no probs.

Read on this thread yesterday about this new £20 iphone Simplicity tariff. Wow ! , too good to be true I thought initially , however as the posts went on it became more & more obvious that o2 were finally getting something right.

Phoned o2 up this afternoon & mentioned to the guy that I wished to be transferred over to this new tariff. His first reaction was that there was no such tariff. Told him that I begged to differ & asked to be put through to retentions as no doubt they knew about it.

Indeed they knew about it , & within about 5 mins my account & tariff was changed & I was a happy fella. Apparently according to them it will be changed from tomorrow as they can't process it the same day , however they confirmed that for £20 a month I now get 600 mins , 1200 texts , unlimited web/data , unlimited wifi & Visual Voicemail. They have also altered my account to obviously take off the £7 wifi bolt on.

Happy indeed.

Regards James

Its also best to get it before jan when VAT goes up again and it becomes £25/pm

Yeah I get good signal where I am, except in my halls but then, no one does. They're built out of shipping containers.

side note of VAT. When it goes back upto 17.5%, that will be added to the tariff so, wont make any difference. Still cheaper

I upgraged my account to the iphone simplicity on friday. I was already on the regular simplicity20, with no VV. Phoned up in the afternoon, the guy hadn't heard of the iphone one, though went and checked, 1 min later he came back and said it will change over midnight. Thank you.

Woke up sat morn and the VV was already in place the first time i looked at the voice page, just had to record a new message.

I'm guessing you may have to phone up again for them to enable it, or is there something you can do (does google have an answer?)

VV is quite a novelty, i don't feel like i've missed out over the last year, but it's nice to have anyway..

Good morning to you all.

You beat me to it JadedBen.

As an update to my previous post. The CS said it would be swapped over the next working day , which is today. Checked my account online & noticed that it now said Simplicity 20 for iphone. Rang myself from landline , left a message & voila , Visual Voicemail working a treat. Just had to set a password & choose a message from default or custom & away we went.

Simplicity indeed.

So you never had an official iPhone Sim Only tariff?

I have tried everything I cannot get it to work! What are your settings under network?

Shawn

I have not had to alter my settings at all.

On the original Simplicity 20 tariff (the one anyone can have) everything was set up correctly for mms & browsing. In the past I've paid no attention to the Visual Voicemail setting as I knew I couldn't get it anyway.

This morning when everything was activated , I tested VV straight away. Once I'd set a pin as prompted , & also set a message as prompted , it started with no problems.

Out of curiosity I looked in the VV settings (Under Cellular Data Settings) & the APN is set as idata.o2.co.uk

Now this is what I always remember it being set at , so to clarify, I had to change nothing.

:-( Oh no, I don't know what is up with my phone then. Did you get a sim update or an activation text?

I am on the Simplicity for iPhone.

My settings are the same as yours.

Thank you.

Good evening to you.

No I have not received any text regarding activation of this new tariff. The only way I knew it had been swapped over is by logging into the o2 application on my phone. As soon as I was logged in , under tariff it had changed to Simplicity 20 for iPhone.

Once I noticed this I then went to my landline & called my mobile & left a message. I then received the missed call info on the screen but noticed I didn't receive the usual text informing me I had a message. I went to voicemail icon & there was a red notification next to it. Once I pressed it it then prompted me to set up a pin code & message. Once I had it then started to work as it should.

Now what I have noticed since the update , is that MMS is not working as it should. When someone sends me a picture message I now receive a message from o2 informing me to log onto the website to retrieve & download , instead of the picture just appearing on my phone. Now my settings under MMS are exactly the same as previous , however why the he'll should this now start happening !

Another call to o2 tomorrow , unless there's anyone here that can help.

Regards James

MMS problem sorted.

As suggested on another forum text MMS to 1010 & activated with no probs.

Regards James

Where do you find the tariffs online because the simplicity pay monthly tariffs don't seem to include unlimited internet. Unless you have to select a BOLT ON?

They aren't a deal to all customers. Only to people who are ending their contracts in January, so its a retentions offer only from what I'm aware of
